The class was over. Karl was delighted that he had created a very satisfying work. So he walked to the back of the classroom to put his work away carefully. There, lying on the carpet in front of the classroom bookcase, was a golden ticket! Karl picked it up. His heart beat faster when he saw that the name line was blank(空白的). He couldn't believe his luck!

The boys and girls in Karl's class could earn golden tickets by doing well in their study or by being extra helpful or kind. Once a week their teacher drew a ticket out of a box on her desk and let the winner choose a prize.

Today was the golden ticket drawing, and here was another ticket, just for him! Karl looked around. No one else was near the ticket. All his classmates were at their desks, laughing and talking with each other. Miss Evans was engaged in grading the papers collected earlier in the morning.

Karl decided to write his name on the blank line. Then he could put it into the prize box with the six tickets he'd already earned. With so many chances, one of his tickets would most likely be picked! Then he could choose the pink toy pig for his sister's birthday, just like he had been hoping.

He smiled and reached for the pencil in his pocket. Suddenly his fingers stopped. There was a strange feeling in his chest, and it wasn't his heartbeat. "Finders are keepers, right?", he wondered. He looked out of the window and tried to figure it out. On the one hand, he did find the ticket, but he hadn't earned it. Somebody must have lost it. But on the other hand, he did need this extra ticket for his great plan!

注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

Paragraph 1:

Karl looked at the blank name line for a moment.

读后续写

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

On my way home, I found a wallet which contained only three dollars and a letter that looked as if it had been in there for years. The envelope was worn and the only thing that was clear to read on it with the return address. The letter was written almost 60 years ago, which told Michael, the recipient(收信人), that the writer could not see him anymore because her mother forbade it. Even so, she would always love him. It was signed "Hannah."

I called information in the hope that the operator could find a phone listing for the address on the envelope. The operator helped me find the woman who bought Hannah's parents' house 30 years ago. She remembered that Hannah had to place her mother in a nursing home several years ago.

I called the nursing home. A man told me the old lady had passed away but Hannah was staying with them. Even though it was late at night, I asked if I could come by to see her. "Well," the man said hesitatingly, "if you want to take a chance, she might be in the day room watching television."

I drove over, and the night nurse and a guard greeted me at the gate. Accompanied by the nurse, I went up to the 3rd floor. In the day room, the nurse introduced me to Hannah.

I told her about finding the wallet and showed her the letter. The second she saw the envelope, she took a deep breath and said, "Young man, this letter was the last contact I ever had with Michael. I love him very much. But my mother felt I was too young. Michael Goldstein was a wonderful person. If you should find him," she hesitated, almost biting her lip, "tell him I still love him. You know, I never did marry…"

I said good night to Hannah. At the gate, the guard asked, "Was the old lady able to help you?" I told him she had given me a last name which might help me find the owner of the wallet.

The first week of my summer vacation was exciting, and my sense of freedom was so intense that it felt like I had to pack everything into that single week. The next week was a little calmer, But by the third week my two best friends had left for summer camp and my activities Wound down into boredom, Getting up later catch morning, I was spending more and more time with my cellphone and in front of the TV, That is when Mom reacted, declaring my phone and the TV off limits between 6:00 in the morning and 6:00 at night, It was shocking just to hear her say it.

In that first hour I felt I'd lost my senses of sight and hearing; The silence was numbing. I circled the house, going from room to room looking for something to do, asking myself what I can do? What can I do? What can I do? When I encountered Mom in the kitchen, I asked her, too, "What can I do?"

"That's up to you," she said without looking in my direction. Through the day I posed my question to her several more times, getting much the same result. Then late in the afternoon, while she was working at her computer, I dared to ask again. Instantly she swung around to look at me, and I could see that my question had a definite effect on her expression. She looked as though she had been shocked. Her jaws clenched, like she was holding her words between her teeth as they struggled to get out. She looked me straight in the eye, then smiled and said, "Well, are you up for a challenge?"

    "Sure what?"

"Your challenge is to follow the same ant for ten minutes,"

"What is so tough about that?"

She smiled again. "You might be surprised."

When I was 9 years old, I used to cut grass for Mrs. Long. The elderly lady paid me very little, for she hadn't much money. But she did promise me. When Christmas comes, I shall have a present for you.‖ I spent much time wondering what it would be. The boys I played with had baseball gloves and bicycles and ice skates, and I was so eager to acquire any one of these that I convinced myself that Mrs. Long intended choosing from among them.

It would hardly be a baseball glove, I reasoned with myself. A woman like Mrs. Long wouldn't know much about baseball. Since she was old and weak, I also ruled out the bicycle, for how could she handle such a large item.

On my last Saturday at work, Mrs. Long said, '' At Christmas you come to the door and collect the present. '' These words clinched(确定)my guess. Since she was going to have the present in her house and handle it herself, unquestionably she was giving me a pair of ice skates.

I became so convinced of this that I could imagine myself upon the skates and the excitement they brought me. As the cold days of November arrived and ice began to form on the ponds, I began to try my luck on the ice. ''Get away from that ice!'' a man shouted.

''It's not strong enough yet.''

As Christmas approached it was with difficulty that I restrained (抑制) myself from reporting to Mrs. Long and demanding my present. On the 21st of December, icy weather froze all the ponds so that boys who already had ice skates were able to use them. My longing to possess mine became overpowering.

So the next day I could control myself no longer and presented myself at Mrs. Long's door. ''I've been waiting for you, '' she said with a smile.

Paragraph 1: She set me in a chair and handed a package to me.

Paragraph 2: On Christmas morning, I could not wait to open the package.

I pulled my exhausted (精疲力竭的) body off the bed and headed out the door. Put one foot in front of the other. That is all you have to do, I told myself. I was determined (决定) to make myself walk every hour for five minutes, regardless of how terrible I felt — it would help me feel better.

My husband and I had been told by my doctor, Tiffany, that my coping strategies needed to change to effectively manage my fatigue (极度劳累). Walking was a key part of my hoped-for change. Cancer had taken so much from me, and it was time to start working my way back. With that goal in mind, I set out into my yard and began walking.

At our second meeting, Tiffany helped us set long-term goals. One of my goals was a day at a theme park, walking instead of using a wheelchair. After our meeting, I carried on with my step challenge. As the weeks progressed, I began meeting other program goals, but I still had the theme park to conquer. It frightened me to risk a whole day on my feet.

The day finally came, and we went to SeaWorld. As we walked into the park, the sun was shining. Over the speakers, Rachel Platten's "Fight Song" played. "This is my fight song, take back my life song ..." she sang. Tears glistened (闪光) on my face, and my husband looked at me with concern. Our teenage daughter saw the worry in his eyes and looked at me. When we shared a knowing smile, my daughter said, "Don't worry, Dad. That's Mom's song."

In the early days of this cancer journey, she had left something at home after leaving for school and had found me balled up in bed, crying from the pain, with "Fight Song" on repeat. I told her it was my "fight song" and I would be fine finally. She gave me a hug before returning to her father's waiting truck. Clearly, she hadn't told him about that.

1)续写词数应为150左右;

2)请按如下格式在相应位置作答。

I walked from show to show that day.

Jon's Pajama Problem

Oh no, he had done it again. He'd forgotten something important. Last year on their family trip to his uncle's cottage for Christmas, he had forgotten the bag with the toiletries (洗漱用品) in it. Neither he nor his brother had toothbrushes or toothpaste or shampoo. He'd had to borrow from his cousins who were not thrilled to share, and Jon was not too thrilled that his hair smelled like strawberries all week.

The year before, Jon had left the marshmallows and graham crackers at home, so they had no mores for the evening fire and annual reading of "The Night Before Christmas". They had to nibble on (小口咬) some stale (不新鲜的) crackers instead. His cousins still teased him about that.

And now, Jon couldn't believe he had forgotten to pack his pajamas. At home, that wouldn't really be a problem: he had extra pajamas. But at the cottage, there were photographs dating back for years and years of Jon's family on Christmas morning in front of the tree in their pajamas. Jon was feeling awful. He would be the first one to break the family tradition ever. Would he ruin Christmas for everyone? What could he do?

He didn't want to tell his parents. He went looking around the cottage, and found an old T- shirt. That could work. He tried putting it on, but it was too small. He tried to stretch it, but it must have been washed 100 times, and it ripped when he pulled on it.

At this point, Jon was getting desperate. He snuck into his brother's luggage, trying to find some spare pajamas, only to find himself in trouble when his older brother caught him and yelled. His brother hated it when Jon messed with his stuff.

Then his brother told their parents.

Then came the next morning. Jon's mother said. "Before we take the Christmas photo, I have a special gift for someone."

It was the first day of our new grade. Everyone in the classroom was chatting happily, excited to see each other again after the long holidays. When the door slid open, all of us stopped talking and turned to look. In came our teacher Ms. Sullivan, followed by an ordinary-looking boy.

"This boy's name is Rafae." Ms, Sullivan announced. "He's a transfer student(转校生), and he's going to be in our class starting from today. Make sure all of you welcome him warmly."

The class clapped. But I didn't want to have a second look at the newcomer, for he had no outstanding qualities considering his small figure and casual T-shirt.

"Ob,I forgot to mention one thing." Ms Sullivan spoke up. "Rafael actually has hearing problems. Normally he would have hearing aids on, but his old ones have just been broken. His doctor suggested that he stay at home until he got his new ones. However, Rafael insisted on attending his first day of school. So if you want to communicate with him, you have to write t on a piece of paper."

This single speech sent the whole class up into an uproar(嘈杂). Some students looked at each other with expressions of surprise. Others voiced cries of concern out of pity.

Ms Sullivan calmed everyone down. I'd like someone to personally help him out throughout the day. Do I have any volunteers?"

"How can a disabled person be intelligent?" I thought to myself. I refused to raise my hand, expecting someone else would. But nobody did or said anything. Dead silence spread across the classroom.

It was by total bad luck that my eyes happened to meet Ms. Sullivan's.

"How about you, James?" She asked me. "Is it okay for you to take care of Rafael just for today?"

It is difficult to refuse a request by someone, especially if that person is a teacher. I sighed and nodded slightly. Ms. Sullivan gestured for Rafael to sit beside me and then asked us to share our holiday stories with the class.

注意:

1. 续写词数应为150左右;

2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

Immediately, the class became excited.
