I still remember the day when my first grandchild, Noah, was born in the hospital. The room was full of1 from the family. And we hugged each other in excitement and wished he would grow up healthily like other babies. But things didn't go2 as planned. Noah faced lots of health problems from the very beginning. And doctor told us that he would3 to grow up healthily, which broke our hearts. Noah wasn't able to suck (吮吸) like most babies. He couldn't eat on his own. So doctors had to give him a feeding tube (胃食管) just to keep him4 . It was heartbreaking for us to see him go through so much5 . But we lived positively (every day 6 complained about the unfairness. Because we realized we should7 the things life gives us.

Noah is a special and excellent boy. He has come a long way since those early days. He has faced many8 and achieved so much. Today is his 13% birthday. We held a big party outdoors. Many relatives and friends accepted our invitation,9 this party on time. We were thankful that we10 together when facing difficulties. Family is where life begins and love never ends.

One day,Jack drove his new car very happily down a street. Suddenly from his car came a terrible sound. He felt1 ,so he stopped his car and looked around. A child2 beside his car with a few stones in his hand. He jumped out of the car and found a dent(凹痕) in the door. He was so angry that he caught3 child and shouted at him,"Who are you? Why did you hit my new car4 a stone?"

"Please , sir , please ... I am sorry! But I didn't know 5 else to do," said the child. "I threw the stone because I wanted you6 me. I need your help!" Tears ran down the7 face. He said,"My brother fell out of his wheelchair and was almost under it. He is hurt but I can do nothing8 he is too heavy for me. Could you give me a hand to get him back into his wheelchair?"

After hearing this,Jack hurried to help. He lifted(抬起)the child's brother gently back into his wheelchair. He looked over the boy9 to make sure that he was OK. Then he watched the child push his brother towards10 home. Suddenly the child turned around and bowed(鞠躬) to Jack. Jack felt pleased and excited. He looked at the dent in his car and smiled.

Friends are very important in people's lives. Some have1 views and interests, but2 like the same things. Should friends be different3 the same? In my opinion, I don't care. I have two best friends, Wang Lei and Lin Ying. Wang Lei4 like me. I am5 than most of the students in my class, and Wang Lei is also quiet. And we both enjoy6 . On weekends, we often go to the library to do some reading. But the other friend of mine, Lin Ying, is7 different from me. She is much more outgoing, and she likes8 and often makes me laugh. She also likes9 , so she is more athletic（体格健壮的）. I don't think differences are important in a10 . What's your opinion? 

Did you know that humans aren't the only species (物种) that use language? Bees communicate by dancing. Whales talk to each other by singing. And some apes talk to humans by using American Sign Language. 

A female gorilla(大猩猩), Koko, was born at the San Francisco Zoo on July 4th, 1971. Koko learned sign language from her trainer, Dr. Penny Patterson. Patterson began teaching sign language to Koko in 1972, when Koko was one year old. Koko must have been a good student, because two years later she moved onto the Stanford University campus with Dr. Patterson. Koko continued to learn on the campus until 1976. That's when she began living full﹣time with Patterson's group, the Gorilla Foundation. Patterson and Koko's relationship has been very close ever since. 

Dr. Patterson says that Koko has mastered sign language and known over 1,000 words, and that Koko makes up new words. For example, Koko didn't know the sign for ring, so she signed the words finger and bracelet(手镯). Dr. Patterson thinks that this shows meaningful and constructive use of language. 

Not everyone agrees with Dr. Patterson. Some argue that apes(类人猿) like Koko do not understand the meaning of what they are doing. Some people who don't believe that say that these apes are just performing complex tricks (戏法). For example, if Koko points to an apple and signs red or apple, Dr. Patterson will give her an apple. They argue that Koko does not really know what the sign apple means. She only knows that that if she makes the right movement, one which Dr. Patterson has shown her, then she gets an apple. The argument is not solved, but one thing is for certain: Koko is an extraordinary ape. 

It seems like Patterson and Koko have a good relationship, but not everyone agrees with it. Some people believe that Patterson is humanizing the ape. They think that apes should be left in the most natural state possible. Even Dr. Patterson struggles with these feelings. When she was asked if her findings could be duplicated by another group of scientists, she said, "We don't think that it would be ethical (道德的) to do again. " She went on to argue that animals should not be kept in such unnatural environment. 

As for the future, Dr. Patterson and the Gorilla Foundation would love to get Koko to an ape preserve (保护区) in Maui, but they are having trouble getting the land. So unless you have a few million dollars to give, Koko's going to be spending her time in Woodland, California with Dr. Patterson. Koko probably doesn't mind that. If she moved to Hawaii, she'd have to give up her Facebook page and Twitter feed, and she's got like 50 thousand "likes". Some may deny (否认) that she knows sign language, but nobody says that she doesn't know social networking.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. I'd like to share my story {#blank#}1{#/blank#} you. Betty is my best friend. She is a lovely and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (friend)13-year-old girl. And she lives next to my home. 

When I meet difficuities in my studies, she {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be)always ready to help me. One day, I didn't pass {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (me)maths exam. I was very sad. She heard ofthis, and then came to my home {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (talk) with me. She told me not to give up. "{#blank#}6{#/blank#} we  meet difficulties, we should try to overcome(克服) them, "said Bety. 

I've tried my best to improve my maths since then. My maths improves {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(slow). And my teacher praised(表扬)me. I am very thankful to my special friend. It is Betty who helped me get {#blank#}8{#/blank#}best marks(分数)in my studies, and she proves( 证 明 )that a friend in need is a friend indeed!We often play together and share pains(痛苦)and{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(happy). We are good friends that are {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(close)than real sisters. 

Frank and his classmates were taking a trip to a space museum. They were going to see what the planets and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} look like. 

When they arrived there, the tour guide, Mrs. Larson, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} students to a large room. After they sat down. Mrs. Larson said. "Look up at the ceiling（天花板）." Everyone looked up. but there {#blank#}3{#/blank#} unusual. They only saw a big white dome（圆屋顶）. "Now, watch what happens," Mrs. Larson said. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} , the lights went off and the dome looked like the night sky. Frank and his classmates felt unbelievable to see the moon and many bright stars. Sitting at such a quiet night. Frank felt more peaceful and relaxed {#blank#}5{#/blank#} ever. After a while, it was getting brighter and then a big sun came out. In order to keep the visit {#blank#}6{#/blank#} , many special materials（材料）were used to protect them. Students wouldn't get hurt and people knew more about the space. In another part of the museum. Frank and his classmates {#blank#}7{#/blank#} what it is like for astronauts to work and live in space. 

This was certainly {#blank#}8{#/blank#} educational trip for all students. It made Frank realize that China has made great {#blank#}9{#/blank#} in space. Now. Frank becomes more interested {#blank#}10{#/blank#} space. He hopes to make more achievements in space one day.
