Shut Up Zoos, Not Animals!

You may think that visiting zoos is harmless fun, but you're wrong because zoos are just prisons(监狱) for animals. The difference is that prisoners get out after a few years! Animals in cages look bored and are boring to look at. After all, we all know what an elephant looks like, we've seen them on TV. So why make animals suffer by shutting them up for our fun? Shut up the zoos instead!

I partly agree. But some zoos aren't there for our fun. I've just got back from Jersey Zoo. It saves rare animals and breeds them. Then it returns the babies to the wild. Not all zoos are the same, you know.

Quite agree! Every time I go to the zoo, I never look into the poor animals' eyes! Kept in the small and smelly cages, they look so lonely and sad. Hope one day they will return to nature, where they can live happily and freely with their families.

Personally, I think zoos are fantastic places for children. They can play with animals and enjoy themselves so much there. Also, they learn a lot about animals. Why shut up?

What do you do in your free time? Many children choose to watch TV, play with smart phones or surf the Internet. They think these{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(activity) are relaxing and funny. 

In some families, children do housework to get pocket money(零花钱). They usually start to do this when they are about ten years old. School students have to do homework and study {#blank#}2{#/blank#}tests on weekdays. They often do housework on weekends. 

Young kids can only do some easy jobs, such as{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(clean) the floor, taking out the rubbish and so{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. So they don't get much money. But that's enough. Many of them just want to buy{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(anything) cheap like candies(糖果). When they get older, they want to buy something{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(expensive). They have to work harder. They often help their parents wash their cars, cut the grass or cook meals for the family. 

In fact, there are many advantages(好处) for kids to do housework. First, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}is important for kids to learn new things by doing housework. They can learn some life skills(技能) and learn how to look after themselves. It is much better {#blank#}8{#/blank#}playing with phones or watching TV. Second, it is one of the{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(good) ways for family members to understand each other(互相理解). Children will know how hard it is for their parents to do housework every day. Parents will also feel happy to see their children{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(share) housework with them. So let's start to do housework now!

There are many ways for you to improve your English outside the classroom. Here is some {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. 

◆ Get an English pen friend. This is a great way to practise your English!

◆ You can learn English from {#blank#}2{#/blank#} or newspapers. Read a story in Chinese first, and then read it in English to see how well you can  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. 

◆ Buy or borrow a book that is suitable (适合的) for you. The stories are interesting and the language isn't too difficult. And you can start to enjoy reading English.

◆ It's a good idea to listen to songs by one of your favourite English bands (乐队). You needn't get every word {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. 

◆ You can try an English- learning website 网站). There are many websites dedicated to (致力于) English learning with a lot of interesting information. 

◆ Don't {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to watch TV or films in English. CCTV-9 is a good choice for you. It's also a fun way to practise your listening.

When you find math hard, you usually ask teachers or parents for help. But now, doctors can help you.

On Oct.8, Shanghai opened a special clinic (门诊) for children who have problems with math and spatial (空间的) understanding. On that day, six students went there with their parents. At the clinic, doctors checked how well the students understood math and their spatial skills, and then made plans to help them learn better. They even had special educational games with VR and AR technologies to help students.

A recent study found that about §97 percent of children at primary school on the Chinese mainland(中国大陆) have  trouble with math and spatiet kills, reported Shanghai Daily. Among them, 10.57 percent are in low grades,10.07 parcent  are in middle grades and 4.76 percent are in high grades.

 Special clinics for helping with learning problems are becoming common in China, especially in big cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, and Nanjing. However, experts remind parents that these clinics may help students, but they can't magically (神奇地) turn them into top students. It's more important to have realistic (实际的) expectations.

 Shi Ping from Tianjin Children's Hospital told China Daily that putting too much pressure on kids can sometimes make learning harder. Parents should think about how they teach their kids and consider making some changes. After all, just as an expert said, "Doing well in school shouldn't be the only thing that matters in a child's life."

In one's life, one usually has little understanding of oneself. When you succeed, you may be very happy. When you fail, you may be sad. If you don't get {#blank#}1{#/blank#} thorough (全面的）understanding of yourself, you may miss lots of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (chance) in life. 

To get a thorough understanding of yourself is to know well {#blank#}3{#/blank#}yourself. You may know your strong points and weak {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (one). You may hope for a wonderful future, but be sure not to expect too much {#blank#}5{#/blank#}you can't realize all dreams . You may be confident enough to meet challenges, but first you should know what to do. 

To get a thorough understanding of yourself, you should believe yourself. Maybe you think you are not a much{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (tall) tree but just some smaller grass. If you get full confidence, you will be sure to face any trouble. 

It also{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (need) to look after yourself if you want to understand yourself well enough. When you are angry, find a quiet place so that you won't be hurt. When you are sad, tell your friends about it {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (change) the bad mood(情绪） into a good one. When you are tired, get a good sleep. If you don't take good care of yourself, you won't be able to stay away from {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (ill). 

So if you get a thorough understanding of yourself, you {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (get) a full control of yourself and find your life will be colorful.
