Have you heard of Zhu Yanjun, a middle-aged builder from a small village in Gansu Province? Can you believe that he 1 second prize in Chinese Poetry Competition hosted by CCTV in February, 2023? 

Born in a family of farmers, Zhu's love for 2 started from a very young age. After he finished middle school, Zhu worked for house building in more than ten 3 .Wherever he was, he went to local bookstores with a notebook. He would take notes from the books and 4 the words in a dictionary to check the meanings. 

In the beginning, he read poems from the Tang Dynasty. As time went by, he found some 5 methods to remember them. Over the years, he has read thousands of poems. 

"I get to know the history and traditions of many places by reading books and poems. It opens up a new 6 for me," Zhu said. Reading also helps him live 7 and he never complains(抱怨)about hard work. There are 8 everywhere in his home, so he can read whenever he wants. 

Zhu is already 50 years old, but he 9 on learning all the time. His story tells us that learning is a lifelong journey. Whether we are old or 10 , we should always learn to improve ourselves. Our life time is limited. Let's put it to good use. 

Bob is a student in No.3 Middle School. It is 4: 30 in the afternoon now. Bob is at the school's Lost and Found office. He doesn't lose anything (任何东西). He comes with a yellow schoolbag. There are some books, a set of keys and a shirt in it. But the schoolbag is not his. He wants to find its owner (主人).

Bob waits for (等候) its owner in the library for about 30 minutes, but no one comes. So he brings the schoolbag here.

"I found the schoolbag under a desk in the library," Bob says to Ms. Black. Ms. Black is in the Lost and Found office (办公室).

" Thank you, boy. It's very nice of you to do it. Please write your class and your name here. We' ll tell your story to your teacher and she may praise (表扬) you," Ms. Black says.

"I do it not for that. I just hope the schoolbag finds its owner soon!" Bob says and leaves the office.

Thanksgiving Day is one of the most important {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (festival)in America. It is always {#blank#}2{#/blank#}the fourth Thursday in November. It is a time to give thanks for all the good things we have. On that day, people usually eat {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (tradition)  food. Everybody{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(want)to be with family and friends. So they will get together to cook a large meal. The main dish of this meal is always turkey. Last Sunday, my mother and I learned

{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(make)turkey. First, we {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (mix)together some bread pieces, onions, salt and pepper. Next, we filled the turkey with this bread mix. Then, we put the turkey in {#blank#}7{#/blank#} hot oven and cooked it for a few hours. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (final), when it was ready, we placed it on a large plate and covered it with gravy. After {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(cut)the turkey into pieces, we started to have the delicious meal. Everybody ate so much {#blank#}10{#/blank#} had fun. What a great day!

When I was a boy, every holiday that I had seemed wonderful. My parents took me by train or by car to a hotel by the 1 . I seem to remember I 2  on the sands with some other children all day. We were strangely 3 . We made houses and gardens, and 4  the tide(潮水) destroy them. When the tide went out, we climbed over the rocks and 5  the fish in the rock pools. 

In those days, the sun seemed to shine always 6  and the water was always warm. Sometimes we 7  the beach and walked in the country, exploring(探索) broken houses, dark woods and climbing trees. There were sweets in one's pockets or good places where one could 8  ice creams. Each day seemed like a lifetime. 

Although I am now thirty-five years old, my idea of a good 9  is much the same as it was. I 10  like the sun and the warm sand and the sound of waves beating the rocks. I no longer wish to 11  any sand house or sand garden, and I dislike sweets. 12 , I love the sea and love to feel sand running through my fingers. 

Sometimes I wonder 13  my ideal(理想的) holiday will be like when I am old. All I want to do then, perhaps, will be to lie in bed, reading books 14  children who make houses and gardens with sand, who watch the incoming tide, and who make themselves 15  for eating too many ice creams. 

Can you imagine going to university at age 14? This year, Jia Zijun, from Henan, did just that. He became the 1 freshman (大一新生) at Beihang University and plans to study aircraft design. 

"I didn't know I was the youngest 2 I got here, and it feels quite cool!" Jia told The Paper. 

Jia took part in the college entrance exam in June and got a total score of 642. People often think students like him must be geniuses (天才). But Jia owes (归功于) his 3 mainly to curiosity(好奇心) and good study habits. 

"When I was in Grade 1, I was 4 about what we were going to learn next. So I borrowed Grade 2 5 and learned the lessons in my summer holidays. I enjoyed exploring new information, " he said. Because of this, Jia skipped (跳过) Grade 2, and then Grade 4. 

As he went to high school, he found things were getting 6 to learn. So he started to make plans every day and 7 goals for himself. "I would 8 follow the plan, and little by little I'd see my 9 . "

Jia would also 10 what he learned each day before going to bed. If there was something he couldn't remember well, he'd take a look at it the next morning. 

"I was not good at English in high school, 11 I printed the vocabulary list and stuck it onto my bed. Every morning when I woke up, I 12 through them, and it's a good way to remember things. "

When Jia felt stressful, he had a 13 way to relax: working on math problems. "I'd find difficult problems to 14 myself, and when I worked it out, I felt really happy. "

As he told The Paper, he hopes he can 15 his curiosity and study habits in university, and keep challenging himself to become a better person. 

Hello, my name is Martha and I'm 13 years old. I go to a{#blank#}1{#/blank#} school near my home. I like my school {#blank#}2{#/blank#} there is a big library and I can read many interesting books there. I'm in Class Three, Grade Seven. In our class there {#blank#}3{#/blank#}27 students, 15 girls and 12 boys. 

 Ms. Reed is our teacher and she {#blank#}4{#/blank#} us English. She often helps us study {#blank#}5{#/blank#} class. We can ask her for {#blank#}6{#/blank#} at any time(在任何时候).
