As winter comes, many people move to the south of China for its warmer climate(气候). However, a growing number of 36.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} have been to Harbin which is famous as the Ice City. 

It is said that Harbin's {#blank#}2{#/blank#} comes from a Manchu(满族的)word that means "a place for drying fishing nets". It is the capital of Heilongjiang Province and one of the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} cities in northeast China. 

The city developed {#blank#}4{#/blank#} with the arrival of the Chinese Eastern Railway. The railway {#blank#}5{#/blank#} it to the outside world. especially Russia. This made preparations for Harbin's future development of its {#blank#}6{#/blank#} culture where East meets West. 

The city is now famous for its Ice and Snow Festivals. Thousands of visitors from all corners of the world {#blank#}7{#/blank#} for different kinds of winter-themed activities and sports. 

Although these festivals may be the most exciting part of a {#blank#}8{#/blank#} to Harbin, the city still has much more to offer. It has not only the traditional European-style buildings but also its more {#blank#}9{#/blank#} buildings, such as the Harbin Grand Theater. The unusual food, including guobaorou. can all be {#blank#}10{#/blank#} along Zhongyang Street. 

While winter may be the best time to visit Harbin, the city has a lot to offer all year round. It is a must-see place no matter what season it is. 

Holidays are very popular with students. They expect to relax and do something they like. However，what do holidays really mean to them？Usually，teachers will give them some homework and parents will ask them to read books，do extra exercises or take a lot of lessons. A junior high school did a survey among their students. It shows that a lot of students end up busier during the holiday. That is not only because they have many things to do，but also because they don't plan their time well. Instead of relaxing and enjoying their break，they often stay up late to finish their homework. And they find it the most painful experience. 

The following charts show some of their findings. Chart I shows different bedtimes of students during holidays. Many junior high school students go to bed late during holidays. They may forget that enough sleep is important for their health and better performance in learning. Chart II shows that more than 80% of the students read during their holidays，and 60% take extra lessons. Reading and learning remain an important part of holiday life，while doing housework and sports are not. 

During holidays，teachers should give homework which students are able to do and interested in. On one hand，teachers need to make sure students practise the key skills and knowledge when they are out of school. While on the other hand，it's important to make sure that students have enough time for something they like or want to explore. 

Parents should help their children make good plans for their holidays. Give reasonable advice and encourage them to read widely and take part in different activities. Finding a balance between having fun and improving themselves is the key to enjoying a good holiday. 

 Riding a Mobike on the street, you might hear some people speaking Chinese aloud. Turning to the right, you see a Sichuan- style restaurant. After walking into a store, you see that Huawei smartphones are on sale. But you' re not in China- you' re in Manchester in Britain. In fact, you might see similar things in many other cities.

 Chinese products have been going all over the world. Chinese food has been enjoyed in Western countries for a long time. To meet local people's tastes, Chinese restaurants have made some changes to the dishes." One example is the meat." said Yin Hang,a Chinese student who is studying in Australia." We like to eat meat with the bone(骨头) in, but people here don't. So the local Chinese restaurants provide big pieces of meat without bones, even for fish."

 Some Chinese brands are also becoming more popular. It is reported that in many cities in Europe, many stores sell TCL televisions, Haier fridges and Lenovo computers. More than half of US- owned drones(无人机) are Chinese models, according to China Daily. They' re not only made in China, but also designed and developed in the country.

 In the past, most Western people thought Chinese products were cheap and unreliable. But now, things have changed greatly. More people trust Chinese brands." Made in China" becomes cool." They are beautiful and offer something special that American phones don't have." an article on CNN once said about Chinese smartphones.

 As it is said, Chinese government has been trying its best to improve its national brands of all kinds to meet the needs of modern life.

The story of the fall of Troy is one of the oldest stories in history. It dates back to around 800 BC, to a poem written by a man called Homer. The poem is called The Iliad(《伊利亚 待》). Ilium is the Latin name for Troy.

The story is a myth(神话), but many believe the city of Troy actually existed. Some people have thought it was in modern Turkey. Others have suggested it may have been in central Europe, northern Europe or even England.

You could write a long book on all the paintings, music and stories about Achilles. His name is used for many things. Since 1744, nine British warships have been named after him, for example.

A Trojan horse is a saying that now means something that seems friendly, but it is actually a trick to hurt you. Some kinds of computer viruses (病毒) re now called Trojans. An Achilles heel (脚后跟) means a person' s main weakness. The Achilles tendon(跟腱) is a medical name for part of your heel at the back.

Around the world there are many famous museums where people can enjoy art. Washington DC has the National Gallery of Art; Paris has the Louvre; London has the British Museum for art and Science Museum for technology. Florida International University (FIU) in Miami also shows art for people to see. And it does so without a building, or even a wall for its drawings and paintings. 

FIU has opened a computer art museum in the US. You don't have to visit the university to see the art. You just need a computer linked to a telephone. 

You can call the telephone number of a university computer and connect your own computer to it. All of the art is stored in the school computer. It is computer art, produced electronically(用电子装置) by artists on their own computers. In only a few minutes, your computer can receive and copy all the pictures and drawings. 

Robert Shostak is the director of the new computer museum. He says he started the museum because computer artists had no place to show their works. 

A computer artist could only record his pictures electronically and send the records, or floppy discs(软盘), to others to see on their computers. He could also put his pictures on paper. But to print good pictures on paper, the computer artist needed an expensive laser(激光) printer. 

Robert Shostak says the electronic museum is mostly for art or computer students at schools and universities. Many of the pictures in the museum are made by students. Mr Shostak said the FIU Museum will make computer art more fun for computer artists because more people can see it. He says artists enjoy their work much more if they have an audience. And the great number of home computers in America could mean a huge audience for the electronic museum. 

Guide dogs have long acted as the "eyes" of  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(失明的) people. They can't get around w{#blank#}2{#/blank#} the help of a well-trained guide dog. Training guide dogs is a difficult {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(任务) , but thanks to The Seeing Eye, we're able to get the most out of the four-legged friends.

The Seeing Eye is the world's o{#blank#}4{#/blank#} guide dog school. They began to raise and train lots of guide dogs in 1929.

When Seeing Eye dogs are seven or eight weeks, they are sent to the homes of volunteer — Dog Raiser(抚养者). They teach the dogs {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(基本的) manners and commands(要求), and take them outside on streets and public transport. 

When the dogs are 13 to 19 months old, the raisers {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(返还) them to The Seeing Eye. Each dog is assigned (分配) to a trainer with w{#blank#}7{#/blank#}they will train for four months.

Once the four-month training {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(结束) , the trainer will train the dogs with their new owners(主人) for 18 to 25 days.  

"Training a guide dog requires lots of work and {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(耐心), but it's well worth the 

{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(精力) ," says Emily Foster, who works for The Seeing Eye. "I feel happy every time I see a working guide dog in the street."
