My favourite food

Once upon a time, there was a soldier. He was brave and strong. But he was not as1 as he thought. One day, he met a blacksmith (铁匠). The blacksmith talked to the soldier about his2 . He told the soldier that his talents were very 3 . He could not only make die best armor (盔甲) but also make it magic as well.

The soldier wanted a magic armor. 4 , he was not very rich. However, the blacksmith said that the soldier could5 him money "little by little". After having the armor, the soldier began a long6 with other soldiers. During the war, the soldier7 the richest and most famous soldier because of his magic armor.

Since he had plenty of 8 , he came to the blacksmith. He said, "Now I'm the richest man in the land. I want to pay for this 9 armor." The blacksmith said, "No, you don't need to pay me. Every spell (咒语) I put upon your armor 10 a day of your life. Your debt is paid and you will die tomorrow."

 Once in a 2 , there is a businessman. He sells 3 at very high prices to make lots of money, but he still wants more.

 So, he starts doing some"4 " things.

 Soon, all villagers know it and they don't want to buy fruit from the businessman. He makes 14 more money ever after.

 Being honest(诚实的) is the right way to do things. To be a good businessman, one should follow the 15 . Never do things like the businessman.

One late summer day, Cindy sat at the kitchen table. She wanted1 making her poster. She found paper, glue and colored pencils. She had 2 box of photos of her friends. " But3 should I make it?" She thought. 

Cindy picked three photos of her friends. She wrote about the books, sports and food they liked. She carried her poster across the hallway of her apartment building. She knocked on the door 4 a smiling girl opened it. " Hello, Cindy!" said Maria. 

" Hello, Maria, " said Cindy. " Do you want to see the poster about my friends? It's my homework. "

" Oh, yes!" said Maria.

Maria asked, " Could you tell me about the girl 7 a red dress?"

Turning Garbage into New Earth

My father is a quiet and shy man. He has his own creative ideas, but he 1  keeps them to himself. Don't get me wrong. If you ask him for advice, he is always glad to 2  his ideas with you. He goes about his business without too much excitement. There is one thing that really gets him 3 . Just mention the word "rubbish" to him! He is especially interested in 4  the rubbish problem. "We've become a throwaway society. We buy something, and then we throw it away. We shouldn't5  doing this, " he said. 

Last year, my father decided to do something about the wasted 6  we were throwing away. A family 7  nearly 500 pounds of food waste each year. Don't 8 , though. There is something that we can do about it. Food waste is also known 9 "organic matter(有机物)". If it is properly 10 , it can be changed from rubbish to compost(混合肥料) which can be added to vegetable gardens to make the plants grow really well. 

"We are going to start composting our food waste, "11  decided one night at dinner. "I bought a compost bin today. From now on, we should put all our food waste in the compost bin 12  throwing it away. Nature will slowly 13  it into compost. In a few months, we will have rich compost to add to our 14  . "

 It took a while to get used to it, 15  soon, we all got into the habit of taking our food waste to the compost bin in the backyard. Three months later, we were excited to find the bin full of rich compost!

Times change! The day I heard that the Bright Bookstore was closing, I was sad. The bookstore had been in the neighborhood for 50 years, and it was a great place where people could know each other through their love of books.

When I met Old Tim, the store's owner, he said it was difficult to run a traditional bookstore. Most young people read e-books and more people bought books online.

Childhood memories came back to me so clearly. A group of us kids often went to the stores, spending hours reading there or just talking with Tim. Tim encouraged us to share our ideas by writing them on a large board.

A few months later, I was back and was surprised to see that the Bright Bookstore was still open for business. It was still old, but inside it was like a different world. In an area, a book reading was going on. Nearby, some readers were sharing their ideas on a screen instead of (而不是) the large board. Some were reading on computers. It even had a coffee shop selling nice food. Clearly, the Bright Bookstore was in good, creative hands. Tim told me that there were more community (社区) events in the coffee shop such as book readings and even music and movie nights.

"Well, as you can see, technology (科技) and creativity have brought my old bookstore into the 21st century! I'm so glad to see that everything I wanted it to offer to the community is still here," said Tim.

No matter how times change, there are always people who love reading. Traditional (传统的) bookstores should also change in a creative way.
