①Malta is a country with 5 islands: Malta, Gozo, Comino, Kemmunett and Filfla. With just 316 square kilometres (平方千米), the country is quite small. But don't let that stop your visit: Malta has lots of things for you to enjoy.

②Valletta, the capital city, is in the east of the island of Malta. It is a great city for tourists. People in Malta started building Valletta in the 16th century after their old capital was destroyed(摧毁). It became the new capital city in 1571. Now in Valletta, there are still lots of old houses, churches and palaces. You can have a drink on Strait Street or a meal at one of the waterfront's restaurants. If you love art, Blitz and Valletta Contemporary are great places to visit.

③Mdina is a city in the middle of the island of Malta and it is an older city than Valletta. Mdina will take you back in time with its old streets and buildings. The streets are so peaceful(宁静的) that Mdina is often called"the silent city".

④Gozo and Comino are also popular with tourists. They are just a short boat ride away from Malta. In Gozo, you can visit the famous beautiful beaches. You can also spend a day relaxing at Comino's blue lake.

Winter sports need to be in cold places. Have you ever imagined one day people go to other planets to hold the Winter Olympics?

Dale has a new baseball hat. It is from his sister Helen. The hat is blue and it is beautiful. Dale loves it. He wears(戴) it every day. When he doesn't wear it, he always puts it on his desk. This morning Dale wants to go and play baseball with his friends. He wants to wear the hat, but the hat is not on the desk. Where is it? Dale looks for it under the sofa, under the chair, in his schoolbag, just everywhere. But he can't find it.

Paris saw a series of "dream-come-true" moments. China's Olympic team delivered its best performance away from home soil, winning 40 gold, 27 silver and 24 bronze medals. Chinese divers and table tennis players swept all the gold medals in their sports. In swimming, Chinese swimmer Pan Zhanle, 20, broke his own world record to win the men's 100-meter freestyle in 46.40 seconds, leaving his name in history. Zheng Qinwen, 21, won China's first Olympic gold in the tennis singles at the Paris Olympics on Aug 3. After withdrawing (退出) from most of her competitions in Tokyo, US gymnast Simone Biles, 27, made a comeback at the Paris Olympics, winning three gold medals and one silver.

Heartwarming moments

Beyond pushing the limits of athletic achievement, the Olympic athletes who participated in Paris will also be remembered for their excellent sportsmanship. After winning silver in women's singles badminton, China's He Bingjiao, 27, carried a Team Spain Olympic pin with her onto the podium (领奖台), showing respect for her semifinal opponent (对手) Carolina Marin, who withdrew due to a knee injury. This act of sportsmanship touched millions.

Better Olympics, better society

The dormitories (宿舍) in the Olympic village will be turned into 2,800 housing units post-Games. By holding the opening ceremony in an open urban space along the Seine, Paris brought athletes, performers and the audience closer together, igniting (点燃) the city of fashion with an amazing carnival.

 In the open field, a crowd was in front of the board, from which a piece of bad news comes-- France lost the battle to Germany.

 That morning, I started for school very late with fear of being punished(惩罚). I hurried as fast as I could to school.

 When school began, there was usually a- great noise. But now it was all so silent! I went in and sat down. I found our teacher had put on his beautiful coat that he never wore except on prize days. On the back benches that were always empty, the village people were sitting quietly like us.

 While I was wondering, M. Hamel said," My students, the order has come from Germany to teach only German in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine. So this is your last French lesson."

 How sorry I was for hardly knowing how to write French! Now I understood why the old men of the village were sitting here. They were sorry, too, that they had not gone to school more. It was their way of thanking our teacher for his 40 years of service and of showing their love for the country that was theirs no more.

 Then, M. Hamel talked of the French language, saying it was the most beautiful language in the world. He opened the book and read us our lesson. I was amazed to. see how well I understood it. All he said seemed so easy! After it, we were asked to write. Whenever I looked up from my writing, I saw M. Hamel staring first at one thing, then at another, as if he wanted to fi x everything in his mind. On the roof the pigeons(鸽子) cooed very low, and I thought to myself," Will German soldiers even make pigeons sing in German?"

 All at once the church- clock struck twelve. It was the time to dismiss(解散) the class.

M. Hamel stood up, very pale. I never saw him look so tall.

" My friends" said he,"I …I…" But something choked(哽咽) him.

 Then he returned to the blackboard, took a piece of chalk, with all his strength, he wrote as large as he could:

" Vive La France!(法国万岁)"
