Should students do housework?

Different people have different ideas about whether students should do housework. 

Taiwan is famous for its night markets. It's fun for you to spend time walking through the night markets. It's common to find night markets in most cities and towns in Taiwan. They take place on the same streets every day. During the day, these streets are quiet. At night, there are crowds of people.

Usually people arrive at three or four in the afternoon. By 6:00 p.m., the streets are full of people, including many tourists. Foodies (吃货) can taste different kinds of snacks here. The food is not only delicious but cheap. When you're just a little hungry, you can buy some snacks. When you are really hungry, you can sit down for a meal. Smelly tofu is popular, although it really smells terrible.

Besides the food, there are shops that sell all kinds of things such as clothes, toys, and books.Things sold at night markets are usually cheap. If you think the price is high, you can bargain with the seller. You may get a lower price.

There are also fun games at the night market. In one game, you throw plastic rings around the top of a bottle. In another game, you shot with a toy gun. If you do well in them, you can win a prize. They're such interesting games that even foreign tourists are fond of them.

I was lonely when I was in high school because I went to a new school far away from my home. In the beginning, some naughty students often laughed at me because of my poor English, so I always tried to avoid them.

Soon I went to university. I was a poor student and I only had $20 for two weeks. I had to hide the truth carefully because I was afraid to be laughed at again. I ate little every day. One day, Joe, a classmate of mine, invited me to help him cook and then shared the completed dishes with him. Since I was not familiar（熟悉）with him, I refused him at first. But after some consideration, I decided to go. I used to cook at home, and I thought I could do it, but I was still full of worry. If he didn't like my cooking, what should I do? Later, it turned out to be a success. Then Joe wished me to make it a daily routine. It went like this. He did the shopping and I did the cooking. And then I stayed to have dinner with him.

It was not until graduation that I knew the whole story. Joe discovered my situation two years ago. In order not to hurt my pride, he came up with this idea just to make it much easier for me. When I cooked the last meal for him, I ordered a big cake and said to him with tears, "My dear friend, you and your help really brighten my college life. I'll never forget that."

"It is especially beautiful. No matter who you are or what your age is, seeing something so fantastic is truly attractive, " said Jin Huilin, who was attracted by the rich patterns (花纹) when he saw Yuhua stones for the first time. 

Nanjing Yuhua stone is a type of water-worn stone mainly found in areas like Nanjing and Yizheng in Jiangsu Province. It is known for its smooth texture (质地), bright colours and rich patterns. 

Because Yuhua stones are often got from mines(矿山), dry Yuhua stones look plain and grey, hiding their true quality（质量）. Jin and his friends visited Luhe mining sites in Nanjing, wearing rubber shoes to collect these stones on rainy days. Rain made the stones' detailed patterns clearer. "It's better to carry a bottle of water on dry days to pour on the surface of the stones. Sometimes you can find something surprising, " Jin said. 

According to Jin, appreciating(欣赏) stones starts with their outer qualities like texture, colour, and patterns.     ①     However, "real appreciation of the stones requires cultural knowledge; otherwise, they might seem like just pieces of colour, " said Jin. With cultural knowledge and imagination, people could see different patterns, such as trees, mountains, or flowers. "     ②     The stones a person chooses as their favourites can show their cultural awareness（意识）, " Jin added. 

Watching patterns of stones in the water is not the only way to appreciate stones. Jin also mentioned other ways.     ③     He gave some examples. "Some people enjoy holding stones in their hands, appreciating their special textures, or using strong light to discover hidden patterns that are even more beautiful. Others choose to put the stones on the desk, inviting guests to appreciate the stones from different positions, " said Jin.     ④   

For Jin, stone watching brings joy and something fresh to his life. "Some people like to have lively pets while I prefer stones for their lasting nature, " Jin added. 

 Recently, researchers have found that dolphins know their com name s mu ch like people. Dolphins talk to one another with whistles(口哨) and calls. Scientists have known that the animals also use unusual whistles to name each other. They had thought that dolphins only heard each other's voices. However, the scientists didn't know that dolphins listen for their names too.

 To test this idea, the researchers caught 14 dolphins and recorded their name calls. The scientists then copied earth dolphin's voice. Wren the changed recordings were played, the dolphins replied strongly to the names of their relatives and group members. They paid no attention to the names of dolphins they did not know.

 Dolphins live in large groups that grow and change. Each dolphin's unusual whistle helps it quickly find a friend or a family member, or call for help. Understanding their calls requires learning. It's a skill that's seen in very few animals, which include humans and elephants.

 Elephants, for example, communicate with sound. Their sounds can be heard by other elephants miles away. Dolphins, too, communicate with each other by making sounds like this. Elephants also communicate by moving their head, feet and trunk(象屏) . In much the same way. dolphins communicate by their movements. They often touch each other to express friendship.

 Unlike dolphins, elephants also communicate by their great sense of smeИ. They can recognize other elephants by the smells they have.

 Why do dolphins and elephants share the gift of communication? Scientists think it may be because they are social and smart animals. Both have st roag family relationship. Now, whether they also have nicknames(绰号) is another question!
