There are all kinds of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (interest) clubs, such as the Reading Club, the Singing Club and the Drawing Club. It also {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(have) got a Sewing(缝纫)Club. Many girls love it. They can learn {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (make) clothes there. Of course, there is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} American Football Club. All the schools have one {#blank#}8{#/blank#} American football is an important sport in America. There are {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (usual) a lot of American football matches at school, and all the students as well as their family will come to watch them. Most of the American students enjoy {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (join) some clubs. They learn things and have fun there.

This week is the English Week, and it is an excellent time to think about how you can improve your English. Of course, every day in school, you have chances to improve your English: through reading, writing, speaking and listening. But I want to talk about learning English outside the school.

In Hong Kong, there are chances all around you to improve your English. There are many people living here whose first language is English. When you hear people speaking English, you should use your skills learned at school to try to understand them. You may even be brave enough to try talking to them. Hong Kong also has many English language media: books, newspapers, movies and television. You should make the best use of these chances to read and listen to English.

Personally, I read a Chinese newspaper that has an English translation of some articles. When I am reading, I try to learn new English words and phrases. This method has helped me a lot. As a student, you should make your English language learning go beyond your school books. It should be a lifelong process. The chances are there for you, so make sure you take them.

Do you have a lucky number? What is it? Many people have a special number that they hope will bring them good luck. 

In Chinese culture, some numbers are believed to be lucky or unlucky based on the Chinese word that the number sounds similar to. 

For example, the word for the number 8 sounds similar to the word for "making a fortune (发财)". So, people consider it a very lucky number. Some people will even spend a lot of money to have 8s in their phone number or on their vehicle license plate (车牌照) number. The opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics began at 8:08 p. m. on Aug. 8, 2008. 

The number 9 is also a lucky number because of its connection to the emperors of China. There were nine dragons on emperors' robes (龙袍) and Chinese myth held that the dragon had nine children. The number 9 also stands for "long lasting". That' s why a man always proposes (求婚) to a woman with 99 or 999 roses. 

So, what's an unlucky number in China? One example is 4. Many Chinese people see 4 as an unlucky number because it sounds similar to the character for "death". 

Because of this, many buildings skip (跳过) the fourth floor, and simply call it the fifth floor. In Hong Kong, some buildings even skip all floors numbered with 4, such as 4, 14, 24, 34 and all 40-49 floors. Some buildings also skip the 13th floor, as this is considered an unlucky number in some areas in Hong Kong. As a result, a building whose highest floor is 50 may have only 35 physical floors. 

 In China, when a baby is one year old. there is a fun activity, zhuazhou, at his or her birthday party. 

 On that day, people usually put some food, toys, and other things on a table. Then , parents put their tables a the table and they can take anything on it. 

 If a baby takes a pen, people will say he or she may be a good writer in the future. If a baby takes a cooker. people will know he or she will take good care of the family. When a baby takes a cake or a toy, people will think he or she may know how to have a good time in future life. 

Zhuazhou has a long history in China. lt begins in the Northern and Southern Dynasties(南北朝). And it becomes popular(受欢迎的) in the Tang and Song Dynasties. Ancient (古代的) people think of it as one of the most important rituals (仪式) in life. Now zhuazhou, is still (仍然) popular. Many Chinese families will have zhuazhou, parties these days zhuazhou, , as an old tradition(传统) in China, shows people's great love for a new member of their family. 

It's easy to plan your vacation in Beijing. There are many places of{#blank#}1{#/blank#} to visit and you can find them amazing. If you want to go shopping, you can go to Wangfujing Street. You can buy anything you like. If you want to visit a beautiful lake, you can go to Kunming Lake in the Summer Palace. The water in the lake {#blank#}2{#/blank#}clean. You will be relaxed and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} like you are a bird. When you are {#blank#}4{#/blank#}, you can taste tanghulu and Beijing Roast Duck. You can also drink Beijing tea. When I was a little kid, I {#blank#}5{#/blank#} it very much. You can visit the largest square (广场) {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the world—Tian'anmen Square.

Many years {#blank#}7{#/blank#}, it was not easy for people to travel around Beijing. But now things become different. You can take the subway. It's fast, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} it takes you a short time to get to the city center. There are many {#blank#}9{#/blank#} in the city. If you can't find one, you can take a taxi. You can also ride a bike by {#blank#}10{#/blank#}. It's fun for you.
