One Thursday afternoon, when I was in Grade 7, a new boy came into my classroom. He was short and thin. He walked up to the teacher and told her, very seriously, that he was new. His name was Christian. He sat down, took a look at me, and then looked away. I didn't think he was very nice and I was sure he wasn't the type I would like to become friends with.

During that year, I didn't talk to him much, but he smiled at me when our eyes met, always shyly. He never ate lunch with anybody, and he never talked to anybody but me.

But one day I joined those unkind kids who were making fun of him. We made fun of him though I thought it was wrong. 

"Haven't you got any friends? " a kid asked Christian, who had walked past us alone, head down.  "No, he hasn't got any friends. He's too stupid and shy. " I said. Then Christian looked up at me with the saddest dog eyes I had ever seen. I felt very sorry at that moment.

That night, I couldn't sleep because I couldn't get Christian's face out of my mind. In the weeks that followed, he never met my eyes in class and never smiled at me. It was really hard for me to decide to write him a note asking him to forgive（原谅）me. But I thought I should. 

The next day in class, I wrote him a note telling him how sorry I felt. About five minutes later, I turned and saw tears in his eyes. "You will never realize (意识到) what your apology（道歉）has meant to me, Jimmy, "he said to me. "I hope we can become friends. "

We had lunch together that noon and we had the best talk I had ever had. Over the years at high school, we were close friends.

When I think back, I realize that, if I had not apologized, I would never have known what a lovely person Christian was.

Apologies can really change your life, so never miss the chance to tell somebody you are sorry.

In September 2022, the paper folding artist Pei Haozheng set the Guinness World Record for his work, Deer with 100 Flowers (《花生满鹿》) made from a single (单一的) piece of paper.

Born in 1996 in Nanjing, Pei started folding paper {#blank#}1{#/blank#} he was just a child. At first, he {#blank#}2{#/blank#} paper folding from his friends and parents. And in 2001, Pei started teaching {#blank#}3{#/blank#} through books about paper folding. He showed {#blank#}4{#/blank#} interest in "the magic world made by paper", because in his eyes a piece of paper held great possibilities. Every day, Pei spent {#blank#}5{#/blank#} folding paper.

His efforts paid off. In 2017, he {#blank#}6{#/blank#} won his fame at an international competition. Pei folded an ancient Chinese woman holding a mirror, which surprised judges (裁判) with its special shape and eastern {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. "The {#blank#}8{#/blank#} of paper folding lies in its creativity from a single square paper through just folding with no cuts or glue," said Pei.

People are amazed at the flowers in his work Deer with 100 Flowers, which shows a deer with 100 roses on its antlers (角). But for Pei, the most difficult part was creating it in a way that could show Chinese {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. "The design comes from the poem To the Oak by Chinese poet Shu Ting and the Chinese saying which means a {#blank#}10{#/blank#} road to a bright future. I made it {#blank#}11{#/blank#} my deep love for my country and help spread Chinese culture to the world," said Pei.

Su Shi，also known as Su Dongpo，was an outstanding Chinese poet（政治家），who lived during the Song Dynasty from 1037 to 1101.

Su Shi was born into a well﹣known family in Meishan，Sichuan province. His father and brother were both great poets. Su Shi showed great talent from a young age and was known for his skills in handwriting and painting. At the age of 20，Su Shi successfully passed the imperial（科举），Su held a number of different government positions across China. However，his different opinions often got him into trouble. Because of disagreements at court（流放）three times. In 1079，Su Shi was even sent to prison. Although he got out of prison at last，Su Shi's literary talent continued to shine，and he produced exile，"Red Cliff"，a great number of poetic works during his lifetime. In 1080，he found peace in nature and produced some of his best works. The famous poem， "Red Cliff"，as he was also a great prose writer. His article "On the Love of the Lotus"shows his love for the beauty of the flower. In addition，his collection of short stories，shows his humour and wisdom. 

It was not only in the literary field that Su Shi was highly praised. As an official，he won the love and support of the people. During his services，he did a lot for the people. In 1077，he protected the city from a terrible flood. The people in Xuzhou were thankful to him and gave him some food as presents. 

Although Su Shi's life was filled with both achievements and troubles，he is remembered as one of the greatest people in Chinese history，and his creative genius and strong spirit continue to influence and guide people around China. 

In a small village, there was a young boy named Mark. He was in the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} grade in a middle school. His parents went {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, so he lived with his grandmother.

 Before Mark's birthday, his parents sent him a special gift —a ticket to the Science Museum in the city centre. He was so {#blank#}3{#/blank#} that he couldn't wait to visit it. He carefully kept the ticket in his drawer(抽屉) and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} it. However, on his birthday, he found that the ticket was missing. He looked everywhere, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the drawer, the table and the chair, but he couldn't find it. He was{#blank#}6{#/blank#} and he couldn't understand how it went missing.

But soon, he decided not to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} himself by worrying too much. He thought to {#blank#}8{#/blank#}," Whatever has happened, it's out of my control. Maybe it's a {#blank#}9{#/blank#} for me to be more careful in the future."

 He enjoyed his birthday with his grandmother at home {#blank#}10{#/blank#} he missed the visit to the Science Museum. He also learned a valuable lesson from this incident— to take care of his things more carefully.

Last week our school held a sports meet. Everyone in our class felt very e{#blank#}1{#/blank#} because we won. In the boys' relay race, Michael ran very fast and our class w{#blank#}2{#/blank#} the first place. Yu Ting is good{#blank#}3{#/blank#} the long jump and she also got the first place. We' re sorry that we did badly in the high jump, but we' re sure we will do better next time.

It{#blank#}4{#/blank#} part in the boys'400- meter race. I did my best and was the first to cross the line. Now I love sports more. I want to be a soccer player. I will do more e{#blank#}5{#/blank#} every day and I hope someday I' ll be able to take part in the Olympic Games.

 One night in July at an all-girls summer camp, the students sat around a fire and talked with each other. Their teacher asked if any of the girls wanted to1 something. It could be anything that happened that day and what they     2 it. One girl put up her hand. She said that another girl said something bad to her and it hurt her     3 . For that, she felt quite sad about it. The teacher went into the4 , and carried a tube of toothpaste(牙膏) when she walked out     5 the door. Then she held the tube     6 in the air so that every student could see7 . She squeezed(挤) a bit so some toothpaste came out. She then tried to put the toothpaste back in the tube, 8 she couldn't make it. It just made a mess(脏乱). She squeezed the tube even more, 9 more toothpaste and making even more of a mess. 10 of the toothpaste would go back into the tube. 

11 , the teacher then told the students, "This toothpaste is just like the12 you say. When you say something bad, it's13 to take it back. It only makes a mess. 14 before you speak and make sure something you say are15 before you let them out. We should always be careful with what we say. "
