Micah is my 12-year-olddaugher. We used to do many things together. But these days, "I'm good" is about all she says to me, which means "Leave me alone". 

I wondered why she didn't want to do things with me. When I set table for dinner one evening, I heard Micah shout, "Mom, come quickly" I rushed out and found a little baby bird on the ground. My eyes went up to the branches (树枝）. For the last few weeks we had watched the bird make a nest and lay eggs there. "The wind must have blown him out of the nest." I said. "No, it was Mr. Whiskers, our cat. You let him go outside !" Micah said.

I realized she was right. So I said sorry and put the bird back. As soon as we went inside, she began to search for what to feed it on the computer carefully. And I found she focused on the screen more than ever before. She didn't even have dinner with me. "It needs a name," Micah said. "How about Chance ? I think he has a good chance of living with your help."I said. "I like it," said Micah.

Early the next morning, I got up to mix the bird food that Micah found on the Internet. But Chance didn't need it, because his mother was back ! Weeks later, we went to check on Chance. The nest was empty. Chance was standing proudly on a branch.He has grown up ！ Then I realized Micah wasn't a little girl any longer. She is her own person.

Prince Caspian's parents died. He lived with his uncle, Miraz, the King of Narnia and his aunt. Though he had wonderful toys, he liked best the last hour of the day when the toys had all been put away and Nurse would tell him stories.

He didn't care much for his uncle and aunt, but about twice a week his uncle would ask him to come and have a walk together.

One day, while they were doing this, the King said, "Well, boy, we must soon teach you to ride and use a sword. You know we have no children, so it looks as if you might have to be King when I'm gone. How shall you like that, eh?"

"I don't know, Uncle," said Caspian. "What do you wish?" asked the King. "I wish-I wish—I wish I could have lived in the Old Days," said Caspian.

Up till now the King had been talking in a tiresome way, which made it quite clear that he wasn't really interested in what they were saying, but he suddenly gave Caspian a sharp(锐利的) look.

"Eh? What's that?" he said. "What old days?"

"Oh, don't you know, Uncle?" said Caspian. "Once there was a White Witch(女巫) and she made herself Queen of the whole country. And she made it so that it was always winter. And then two boys and two girls came from somewhere and killed the Witch and they were made Kings and Queens of Narnia. And so they ruled for a long time and everyone had a lovely time, and it was all because of Aslan."

"Who's she?" said the King. If Caspian had been a little older, the tone(语气) of his uncle's voice would have warned him it would be wiser to shut up. But he talked on...

My life is always filled with sadness and little joy, but I can always face it bravely.

Last year. I couldn't believe the1 that was allowed(被允许) to enter the only key high school in my hometown. Then I rushed to my home and told my parents. But my father die seem as2 as I was. He just kept smoking without saying a word and my mother put her head down and couldn't help 3 . I knew very well what my family was4 . My mum had been ill in bed for two years. We lived a hard life and I couldn't go on with my schooling. I felt very sad but I could say5 to my parents. I decided to help my father with his work to support6 . To my surprise, things completely changed7 the summer vacation ended. My head teacher came to my home with some money which my schoolmates8 . He encouraged me, "Always have a dream." On the first day of the new term, with tears in my eyes, I walked into the key high school.

I have been studying hard since I entered the high school. Whenever I meet difficulties. I always 9 my teachers and schoolmates. I have a college dream and I must work hard for it, no matter10 hard life is. Just as a great man says, "When one door shuts, another opens in life."

In the Tang Dynasty, there was an emperor (皇帝) named Li Shimin. Once, his army won a war and returned {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the Mid-Autumn Day. While Li was celebrating with his army, a Tibetan trader (吐蕃商人) gave him some round{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (cake) as a gift. Li was happy and{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (send) these cakes to his soldiers. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} that, these round cakes became popular. Many people ate {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(they) during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Later, the cakes were named as "mooncakes". 

Zhu Yuanzhang was the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty. He ended the Yuan Dynasty through an uprising (起义). When he organized the uprising, it was difficult to send messages {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(secret). One of his friends came up with{#blank#}7{#/blank#}idea. He gave mooncakes with a note hidden inside of them to other people. The note read, "Uprising on the fifteenth night of the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(eight) lunar (农历的) month." After the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (success) uprising, Zhu gave mooncakes as gifts to his people. Since then, it {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (be) a custom to eat mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
