Dorothy lived with her uncle Henry and aunt Em who were both farmers.Their house had only four walls，a floor and a small space under the floor to protect them from powerful winds.The house was in the middle of poor land with strong sunlight and few plants.Aunt Em used to be young and cheerful，but the sun and wind had taken away her happiness.Uncle Henry also looked serious and strict.Only Toto，could bring laughter into Dorothy's life.

One day，they heard low sounds of wind from both the north and the south.Uncle Henry realized a strong wind was coming.He rushed to protect the animals while Aunt Em hurried Dorothy to the basement.Suddenly，the house began to rock and rise to the air.In the center，but Dorothy found herself riding safely on the rising house.

Frightened，Toto ran around the room until Dorothy caught him and protected him from falling through the open door.She closed it carefully to avoid further danger.As hours passed，Dorothy slowly got over her fear.She finally fell asleep on her bed with Toto by her side.The wind had set Dorothy's house down gently in a beautiful country.

As she looked around, she saw green grass, fruitful trees, and colourful flowers.Birds with special feathers sang and flew around.As she stood enjoying the beautiful views, a group of strangely dressed people came near. They wore round hats that rose to a small point a foot above their heads. Three men were dressed in blue, and a little woman wore a white dress. They stopped and discussed in a low voice, as if afraid to come farther.

It was early spring, and there was a light fog( 雾) over the trees and fields. I and the other young horses {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (eat) at the lower end of the field when we heard the cry of dogs far away. The {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (old) among us lifted his head to listen. "There are the dogs!" he said, and ran away at once. We followed him to the top {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the field.

My mother and another old horse were standing near. "They have found a hare(野兔)," said my mother, "and if they come this way, we {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (see) the hunt(打猎)."

Soon the dogs were all running down the field next to ours, making aloud "yo-yo-yo" sound at the top of their voices. After then came men on horses as fast as they could. Suddenly, the dogs became {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (silence) and ran around with their noses to the ground.

"They {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (lose) the smell of the hare already," said the old horse. "Perhaps she will run away."         But the dogs began their "yo-yo-yo" again and came at full speed towards our field. Just then a hare, wild with fear, ran towards the trees. The dogs jumped over a small river and ran across the field. Six or eight huntsmen(猎人) jumped their horses over{#blank#}7{#/blank#}small river, close behind the dogs. Before the hare could get away, the dogs were upon her with wild cries.

We heard a terrible cry, and that was the end of the hare. She{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (pick) up by one of the men. She was covered in blood, but all the huntsmen seemed pleased.

I was{#blank#}9{#/blank#}surprised that at first I didn't see what was happening by the river. Later I saw a sad sight(景象)—two horses were down and the riders were hurt.

My mother said, "I can't understand why men like this sport so much. They quite often hurt {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(they) and good horses."

There is a farmer. When he is working {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the farm, he sees a rabbit. The rabbit {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (run) into a tree stump (树桩) and dies (死). {#blank#}3{#/blank#} farmer stops working. He walks to the tree stump to get the rabbit.

After that, the farmer gives up farming. He comes to the tree stump every day. He spends much {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (time) around it. But he doesn't see {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (some) rabbits run into the tree stump. What's worse, the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (farmer) farm is full of weeds (杂草) at harvest (收获) time.
