{#blank#}3{#/blank#} in 1936, this 88-year-old grandpa's spirit is as strong as ever. "I still have dreams and pursuits. I can do now what I could not do in the past, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} that is what rebirth should be about."

Due to the physical {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(require) of pantomime, Wang, at 50 years old, decided to hit the gym. Training for two hours was followed by two hours of swimming every single day for 30 years, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} helped him shape a healthy and strongly-built body.

"Thirty years ago, I used {#blank#}7{#/blank#} models how to walk with the help of my wife. One day (in 2015), one of our students asked about my body's condition, and I said it's fine. So I was invited to make {#blank#}8{#/blank#} appearance in the show," Wang said, recalling the events that led to overnight fame.

After making waves in the fashion industry{#blank#}9{#/blank#}a male model in his late 70s, the then 85-year-old Wang was once again defying stereotypes concerning the elderly by taking {#blank#}10{#/blank#} a new challenge: getting a pilot's license.

Smart and highly sensitive （灵敏的）, a new soft sensor developed by UBC (University of British Columbia) and Honda researchers opens the door to a wide range of applications in robotics and prosthetics （假肢）.

When applied to the surface of prosthetic or robotic arms, the sensor skin provides touch sensitivity and flexibility, making it possible for difficult tasks to be completed by machines, such as picking up a piece of soft fruit. The sensor is also soft to the touch, like human skin. which helps make human interactions safer and more lifelike.

"Our sensor uses weak electric fields to sense objects, even at a distance, much as touchscreens do. But unlike touchscreens, this sensor is soft and can detect forces into and along its surface," explained Dr. John Madden, senior study author and a professor of electrical and computer engineering who leads the Advanced Materials and Process Engineering Laboratory at UBC.

The UBC team developed the technology in cooperation with Frontier Robotics, Honda's research institute. Honda has been innovating in humanoid robotics since the 1980s, and developed the well-known ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) robot. It has also developed devices to assist walking and the emerging Honda Avatar Robot.

"Dr. Madden's lab has significant expertise in flexible sensors and we're happy to cooperate with this team in developing touch sensors that can be applied to robots," said Mr. Ishizaki Ryusuke, one of the study's lead authors and chief engineer at Frontier Robotics.

Dr. Madden said, "Human skin has a hundred times more sensing points on a fingertip than our technology does, making it easier to light a match or sew. As sensors continue to develop to be more skin-like, and can also detect temperature and even damage, there is a need for robots to be smarter about which sensors to pay attention to and how to respond. Developments in sensors and artificial intelligence will need to go hand in hand."

On August 1, 2023, new rules went into effect in the United States thạt make it against the law to sell most incandescent (白炽的) light bulbs.

Incandescent light bulbs have been common since the late 1800s. They use electricity to create light by heating a metal wire, which glows. Over 90% of the electricity used by the bulbs goes into making heat — not light.

Since 2005, countries around the world have been banning incandescent bulbs. That's what's happening in the US. The new rules don't actually make incandescent bulbs illegal. They just say that light bulbs that are sold must be able to create a certain amount of light (45 lumens) with a certain amount of energy (l watt). Most incandescent bulbs can only create about 15 lumen s with I watt.

These days, the best way to replace incandescent bulbs is with LED light bulbs. These bulbs can create about 75 lumens with 1 watt of electricity. And they can last 25 or more times longer than incandescent bulbs.

Though the rule just took effect at the beginning of August, it was first created in 2007. Since then, the rule has been delayed many times, usually for political reasons. In the early 2000s, LED bulbs cost more money than they do today, and weren't nearly as good. But in recent years, people have been switching over to LED lights, even without the rule. The lights have become more and more popular, since they use less energy and save people money by lasting longer.

The new rules will also help the environment. Over the next 30 years, LED bulbs are expected to help prevent a huge amount of pollution in the US — about as much as would be used by 28 million homes in one year. That will be an imperative step in tackling the climate crisis.

China Mobile, the world's largest telecom carrier by mobile subscribers, has successfully launched the world's first satellite {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (test) 6G architecture, marking a milestone in its efforts to explore integrated space and ground communication technology.

The low-earth orbit test satellite is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} world's first to employ 6G design architecture, and it{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (launch) on Saturday along with another satellite that comes with China Mobile's 5G technology.

The 6G test satellite hosts a distributed autonomous architecture for 6G, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} was jointly developed by China Mobile and the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Innovation Academy for Microsatellites. The system, using domestic software and hardware, supports in-orbit software reconstruction, flexible deployment of core network functions and automated management,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (enhance) the efficiency and reliability of the in-orbit operation of the satellite core network, China Mobile said.

A group of foreigners visited Weihai, a coastal city, to explore what the rising star in China's tourism market can offer.

Driven by social media and short video platforms, Weihai's tourism industry saw a huge growth, with the city of just 2.92 million residents welcoming over 59 million visits.

China successfully launched the Chang'e-6 spacecraft on Friday. A Long March-5rocket lifted it off from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan. This was a huge success and a remarkable achievement for China's space exploration program. The launch not only shows China's advanced technological abilities but also makes scientists and space lovers around the world excited.

The Chang'e-6 spacecraft has an orbiter, a lander, an ascender（上升器）, and a returner. When it reaches the moon, it will land carefully on the far side. Within 48 hours after landing, a robot arm will carefully collect rocks and soil from the lunar surface. Also, a drill will go into the ground to take samples from deeper layers. At the same time, a series of complex scientific tests and analyses will be done to get valuable data.

The far side of the moon is very different from the side we can see. The Apollo basin in the South PoleAitken Basin is chosen as the landing and sampling place for the Chang'e-6 mission. This area is thought to have precious clues about the moon's formation and development, giving possible ideas about the early history of our celestial（天体）neighbor.
