According to media reports on Wednesday, Zhang Zening, a woman from Nanjing City, East China's Jiangsu Province, has made more than 50 sets of Hanfu, or traditional Chinese costume (服装).

Zhang majored in materials science and engineering when she was in college, and she gave up her job after falling in love with Hanfu. It has been 10 years since Zhang made Hanfu by herself because those of her favorite styles were not for sale. She taught herself painting and costume design, and visited a dozen Chinese cities to explore museums, as well as to draw inspiration from murals (壁画) and literature, before making over 50 different Hanfu from past dynasties.

Zhang said the design of Hanfu was inspired by the murals of past dynasties. "What I did is not only to restore (使复原) a piece of clothing, but more to feel the culture Hanfu possesses, as well as the inspiration and significance (意义) of the mural, which made me very touched and glad," she said.

In July this year, a group of international students from Canada visited Zhang, hoping to work together to restore Hanfu based on murals that have been lost overseas. Zhang is excited about the project, saying, "Even if the national treasures cannot return to the country, restoring Hanfu based on them allows these lost treasures to be seen by more people. It's also a contribution from us young people."

"Amma, your son has sent money to you," said the postman to the old lady. She was sitting outside her house. Seeing him, Amma's face lighted up. "Let me first talk to my son," she was looking at him with hopeful eyes. But the postman tried to avoid it, "Amma, I don't have so much time. Don't talk with your son every time."

Then, the postman handed eight 100-rupee (卢比，货币单位) notes to Amma. After counting the money, she took out one note and gave it to the postman.

"Why, Amma?" asked the postman. Amma smiled and said, "You bring me money and also let me talk to my son. It must cost money, right? So keep it." Amma went inside after giving him lots of blessings (祝福).

The postman left and met his friend Ramu. "Every month you give your own money to Amma. Not only that, you give me money to talk to her on the phone as her son! Why?" Ramu asked.

The postman said, "Her son worked in a foreign country and used to send money to his mother every month. But one day, her son was missing. Now, he's still out of touch. I don't want to tell this to Amma. So I send her some money and ask you to talk with her on the phone."

China is home to tea and has a long history of tea culture. As time goes by, the tea culture has developed greatly.

In the Tang Dynasty, people not only drank tea, but also ate the tea leaves. That was why tasting tea was called "tea-eating". In the Song Dynasty, the way people drank tea became romantic and was full of art. In the Ming Dynasty, tasting tea returned to its true nature of "drinking tea". People put dry tea leaves in the cup and then poured boiled water into it before drinking. And in the Qing Dynasty, the tea culture finally came into common families. Drinking tea became part of their daily life. At the same time, there were more tea houses.

Nowadays, making tea around a stove (围炉煮茶) has become popular among young people. This is a special way of drinking tea. Many young people like to choose a quiet and comfortable environment to make tea. While boiling tea, there must be delicate and tasty snacks like small oranges and sweet potatoes on the charcoal (炭) stove, satisfying people's eyes and mouth. And beautiful cups and teapots would bring them more pleasure in mind. What they enjoy are art, spiritual world and the deep Chinese tea culture. Away from their busy work and life, they feel calm and peaceful in mind.

In fact, people began to make tea around a stove in ancient times. Traditionally, about the art of making tea, the most important part is the types of tea, water quality, the control of fire, the choices of tea tools, and the skills of brewing (沏茶). In some ways, the art of making tea is a kind of communication between tea and people.

As time passes by, Chinese tea culture continues to develop. Modern tea culture has mixed traditional and modern art and life, showing a more open and colorful culture.

My baby graduated last week. Waiting for the ceremony to begin, I took a photo and posted it on Facebook with words "I'm teary. " However, autocorrect (自动更正) changed my words to "I'm ready. " For a minute I was unhappy. But the next minute I was cheering the handsome man, as he walked straight with a big smile to the headmaster. My heart was filled with pride, and I began to wonder if autocorrect had known something. 

The idea of "empty nest" is often connected with sadness, but the truth is that birds don't have a problem with it. Birds' parents encourage their children to leave the nest as soon as possible, while continuing to provide support. That sounds right to me. The fact that my kid is brave enough to go out on his own means I did my job well. And I should have the rewards. 

So, I started with a hot bath at 6:00 p. m. I enjoyed it for over an hour, and then went out to do some running. Back home then, I cooked salmon -my favourite fish but my boy disliked its smell. Later, in the evening, I didn't have to tell anyone to turn off his computer and get some sleep. But at midnight, I missed my boy a little bit more. 

The next morning, I went for a walk. Was I a terrible mother to live in the house by myself? Then I remembered: my kid flew because I taught him to fly. If I'm happy to be drinking coffee as I write this, it's not about not loving my boy but about finding his independence when he's away. It's about realizing that when your smartphone autocorrects "teary" to "ready", you should take note. 

Ben and Tim are good friends. They were very active before. They played games together outdoors a lot. But now Tim is not active any more. He has some bad habits. He watches too much TV and plays too many computer games. Ben worries about him.

Ben sends his friend a poem:

You can be a couch potato and watch TV all day.

But don't do that. There is another way!

Move your body, get out and have fun.

Fresh air, a bike ride, playing in the sun!

Tim gets home from school. There is a letter at his front door. It's Ben's poem! He reads the poem and he laughs. He writes a poem back to his friend:

Your poem is funny,

But I feel really lucky.

With a true friend on my side,

My world will be open wide.

Let's meet tomorrow at six o' clock,

And we can go for a good walk.
