Mobile phones have become an important part of our daily lives. However, to protect students' eyesight, make sure they focus on their studies, primary and middle schools will have more specific rules to limit students' mobile phone use on campus.

The Ministry of Education gave a notice that limits primary and middle school students' carrying mobile phone use at school in January, 2021. Those who still require their phone for some reason must get their parents' and teachers' permission and must hand their phones over during class time.

The purpose of this new rule is to help students focus on study and prevent them from being addicted (成瘾) to the internet and games. According to a 2020 report by the China Internet Network Information Center, China had 175 million internet users under the age of 18 in 2019, with 74 percent having their own mobile devices.

This is worrying, because long-time use of mobile phones harms children's eyesight, cervical (颈部) vertebrae (脊椎) and even the brain, according to the World Health Organization. Many schools have taken measures to limit students phone use on campus.

Before the new rule , Li Wen, an English teacher in Shantou, noticed that many students brought their phones to school. Some even played games on them during class. Now the situation has improved since the notice was given.

(1)、When was the notice given?
(2)、What is the aim of this new rule?
(3)、How many internet users under the age of 18 did China have in 2019?
(4)、Why do people worry about long-time use of mobile phones?
(5)、Who noticed that many students brought their phone to school before the new rule?

When I was a child, my parents always told me that I never talk to strangers. This was part of a whole list of things I should never do: Never accept food or candy from strangers, never get in car with strangers, and so on.

But if we didn't start conversation with strangers, we'd never make new friends. We would never get a job. ①We may miss the joy that comes from talking with strangers. And the more people you know, the more chances you can find.

The following passage offers you some advice on how to ②break the ice.

Don't just stare at your shoes. Go and say "Hi" to that new guy. It will be easier to break the ice if you know more about different cultures.

    British: Beautiful day, isn't it?

The weather in Britain is changeable. So, it's one of the topics the British care most about. And there's a simple rule: Say "Yes" whether you agree with the person's idea on the weather or not. ③That's because the British start a conversation using the weather so that they can continue their talk.

French: Where did you go on holiday?

To talk with a French person, the safest way is to ask about his or her last holiday. French students enjoy a 10-to-15-dayholiday every two months. French employees(雇员 )get more than six weeks of holidays per year.

American: So, where are you from?

The US is so big and people move so often that location is always source(来源) of talk. You can try to find connection with the place they're from. For example, if someone is from Los Angeles, you could say, "Oh. I have friend who studied there."

When we want to buy a house, we all want to have nice neighbours to live near us, because most of us think that it is helpful to live with some good neighbours. But what kind of neighbour is good? The answers are different from people to people. Here are my answers.

First, it is very important for our neighbours to respect our life. If we have a neighbour and he or she tries to know more about our life, how will we feel? He or she may also talk with others about our life. Do you want to live with him or her any more? The answer is "No". We will feel very sad to have this kind of neighbour and we may want to move away as quickly as we can.

Next, a good neighbour is always ready to give us a hand when we need him or her. For example, if we are not at home and someone tries to open our door, our neighbour sees it, and calls 110. It will help us a lot.

Finally, a good neighbour should love the environment(环境). He or she never puts rubbish here and there. And he or she should throw all the rubbish into the bin and keep the place clean. A good environment can make people who live in it comfortable and feel happy all the time.

I think we all should learn to be good neighbours, and I also hope everyone will have good neighbours and live a happy life.
