阅读下列短文,从下面每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选 出最佳选项。

Public toilets arc known for a number of things, and they're almost all bad — dark, dirty, smelly, scary, and depending on where they're located, crowded. There's nothing worse than needing to use the restroom only to catch sight of a public toilet and then walk up to see that it s occupied (占用).However, the first transparent (透明的)public toilets in Tokyo arc way cooler than you can imagine.

Designed by Shigeru Ban Architects, a Pritzker Prize-winning architecture company, the two new sets of transparent toilets have been built in two Shibuya parks in Tokyo. The toilets are lined with transparent glass. When not in use, the three stylish units are almost completely see-through, with purple glass for men and pink for women, as well as a yellow unit (br changing babies. The real trick, however, comes when you enter and lock the doors.

Nobody wants to have people watching them while lhey're doing their business. When you lock the doors, the glass panels turn opaque to provide privacy. When the door is unlocked, the glass becomes transparent once again.

"This allows users to check the cleanliness and whether anyone is using the toilet from the outside says a statement on the project's official website, Tokyotoilet.jp. At night, the toilets lights up the park like a beautiful lantern "

It remains to be seen whether people in Tokyo will decide that these new and improved restrooms arc worthy of use, but I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to spend some time in them.

 阅读下列短文,从下面每小题所给的A、B、CD四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

Theo works days, nights, and weekends in the tulip, fields in the Netherlands and never feels tired. How is this possible? Theo is an AI robot that looks fo sick flowers each spring.

The work stops viruses(病毒)from spreading among the plants. The robot looks for troubled tulip bulbs(鳞茎) and kills them if necessary. They are removed (去除) from the healthy ones,in a processing center after the harvest.

There are 45 robots like Theo working in the tulip fields of the Netherlands. Their job becomes important as the winter turns to spring and the busiest season nears. People come from around the world to see the colorful flowers.

This is the second season that Allan Visser has used a robot. He said it is very costly-the same as sports car-about $200, 000. In the past, knowledgeable farmers would walk the fields looking for tulips that showed signs of sickness. "I prefer to have the robot because a sports car doesn't take out thesick tulips from our field, " he said "Yeah, it is expensive, but there are fewer and fewer people who can really see the sick tulips.

Erik de Jong, the manager of the company that makes the robots, said all of the knowledge they use in the computer program comes from tulip farmers—farmers like Theo van der Vourt. He is the farmer after whom the robot is named.

Van der Vourt retired(退休)after 52 years of looking for sick flowers in his fields. "It's fantastic"he said, "It sees just as much as I see. "

 阅读下面短文,从方框中所给的 A—E 五个选项中选择正确的答案(选项中有一项是多余项),并将其序号填入第41—44题,使短文意思连贯,然后回答第45题。

English is one of the most important languages in the world. Here are four ways to learn it well.

Speak without fear. The biggest problem most people face in learning a new language is their own fear. They worry that they won't {#blank#}1{#/blank#} or that they will look stupid so they don't talk at all. Don't do this. Just do it again and again until you get it right.

Use all of your resources. You can learn English both at school and after class. It is a good way to {#blank#}2{#/blank#} and tools to learn faster, so don't limit (限制) yourself to only one or two.

Listen to English. By this, we mean,{#blank#}3{#/blank#} or listening to the radio or CDs in English. Many English learners say that talking on the phone in English is one of the most difficult things that they do and the only way to improve is to practise.

Record your voice. Try to record your own voice on tapes. It is good to {#blank#}4{#/blank#}from time to time. Then you may find you've made such great progress.

A. use different methods

B. compare your tapes

C. speak out loudly

D. say things correctly

E. speaking on the phone

What else can you do to improve your English? {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳选项。

①It can be really embarrassing if someone sees you talking to yourself. But don't feel bad about it! Talking to yourself actually has a lot of advantages.

②You probably know that thinking is good for the brain. It helps us do things like making plans and managing our feelings. Talking to yourself loud is like showing this quiet inner(内在的) speech. It can help us do better in different areas like studies, sports and work.

③Talking to yourself, especially in the third person, can help us manage bad feelings. "Talking to yourself in the third person is like giving yourself advice." said Jason Moser, a professor( 教 授 ) from Michigan State University in the US. Jason uses himself as an example. He does not like flying, but he often has to fly for his work. So when he is feeling nervous or afraid during a flight, he talks to himself – only silently. Well, you know, Jason knows air travel is very safe. And Jason has been on thousands of flights. This can help us to see things from a different aspect(角度), especially when we're feeling sad or angry.

④When encouragement comes from oneself, it adds to self-confidence. A study invited 72 tennis players to take part in some matches. Researchers divided the players into two groups: one group that said nothing while playing, and the other that talked to themselves while playing. They found that the self-talkers showed more confidence and played better than those in the silent group.

⑤Self-talk also helps to improve memory. Researchers tested four different ways to memorize things: read silently, reading aloud, listening to someone else read and listening to a recording of oneself reading. "Those who read out loud record the information best," Researchers said in their study. It's because the information will probably become a long-term memory if it is said out loud.
