Long long ago, there was a spider. She found a beautiful farm. She liked the farm and decided to live there forever.

    One day, the spider caught a little bug. When the spider ate it, the bug said, “If you let me go, I will tell you an important thing. The thing will save your life.” The spider stopped and listened.

    The little bug said, “You'd better get out of the farm. The harvest is coming! If you stay here, you will be killed by the farmer's machine.”

    But the spider didn't listen to the bug and ate it for lunch. The next day when she was sleeping, the farmer came to have a harvest. The spider was killed by the machine.

    These days, few 11-year-olds are allowed to walk to school by themselves. However, 11-year-old Rosalie Atkins is traveling the world alone.

    Rosalie Atkins lives in England. Her parents decided to let her travel alone. This summer Rosalie's mother put her on a plane to Paris with a host family.

Rosalie spent a week visiting Paris. She visited the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame, as well as several museums, markets, and parks. "If I had visited with my parents, we would have seen only the touristy parts of Paris," said Rosalie. "But because I was staying with a French family I saw more." Traveling to different countries, Rosalie also expressed the confidence. "I am quite confident when I have to talk to new people, which is a useful social skill, " Rosalie said.

Rosalie is glad that her parents allow her to go on adventure() that other kids could only dream of. Rosalie said, "Your parents aren't going to travel with you forever. You have to learn to be independent some day, and in my opinion the sooner the better."

    Once Einstein gave a lecture(演讲)in many places in America. His driver always listened to him and knew the lecture so well that he was sure to give it himself. So Einstein agreed that the driver gave the lecture for him. As nobody knew Einstein there, the driver gave the lecture for Einstein that evening. At first he was a bit afraid, but Einstein's smile made him feel better. He gave a good lecture and the people were quite pleased. Then the driver started to leave and Einstein followed him without a word. Then they got to the door, a man asked the driver a difficult question. The driver said that the question was very easy, and told the man to ask his driver behind to answer it.

Luo Xiaojun isn't tall or strong. Of all the boys around he is the{#blank#}1{#/blank#} kid. So he is called Bones by his friends. He talks more and laughs {#blank#}2{#/blank#} than anyone else. But he is always unhappy, because he is not good at sports. 

One day, Luo Xiaojun {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the men's marathon （马拉松） on TV. The runners didn't go fast. They didn't have strong muscles either. They were more like Luo Xiaojun. He decided{#blank#}4{#/blank#}a try. "Boy, it's better to do a little bit each day, " said his mother. The next day, and he kept on{#blank#}5{#/blank#} in the park every morning. 

{#blank#}6{#/blank#} the race day came, there were 109 runners and they were all bigger than Luo Xiaojun. They all started to run. Luo Xiaojun tried to catch up with （赶上）{#blank#}7{#/blank#}, but he fell farther and farther behind. Halfway someone got tired. Luo Xiaojun passed a big runner with muscles. Suddenly, he {#blank#}8{#/blank#} like a switch （开关） that had been turned on. He passed another one, then a {#blank#}9{#/blank#} one. All the runners looked tired except Luo Xiaojun. He didn't see the crowds until he heard their cheers. Finally, Luo Xiaojun won. He raised （举起） his two{#blank#}10{#/blank#} as he crossed the finishing line!

The summer holiday is coming. Ben will have a trip to Beijing with his two {#blank#}1{#/blank#}this weekend. His dad will also go and have a meeting. This is a great journey for Ben and he is very {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Ben knows little about taking a plane. It is his first time to take a plane. However, Ben's father often goes to other places by plane. 

In the morning, they arrive at the airport early. It is very {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Ben's dad tells Ben what to do. They sit close and wait there for a few minutes. It will take them about four hours to get to Beijing. A few days ago, they {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a hotel far from the Summer Palace because all the other hotels were full (满的) and they had no {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Ben is really looking forward to the trip. 

I'm a foreign student at Ningbo University. Can you guess what I'm majoring in? It's Chinese Language and Literature! When I was young, I found a book in the library, Journey to the West. The story about Tang Monk and his three disciples (徒弟) was so fascinating. After I finished high school, I decided to come to China. But my parents didn't understand me. In their minds, China was still a developing country, and they couldn't see why I would like to go there. This July, China had a 72/144-hour visa-free (免签) policy for foreigners, so I invited my parents to travel in China.

We started our journey from Ningbo where Ningbo University is located. We went to Tianyige Museum, China's oldest private library and the Moon Lake Park, feeling the rich history of China. After that, we flew to Chengdu. We visited cute giant pandas and even had the chance to feed them bamboo. We also tried the delicious and spicy Sichuan hot pot, which was truly a unique experience. Finally, we took the high-speed train to Beijing. The train ride was smooth, quiet, and fast. Both my parents and I enjoyed the ride very much. In Beijing, we visited the Forbidden City and Tian'an men Square. Beijing is a modern city, yet it still has its ancient beauty.

On the way to the airport, my mother left her passport on the subway. Thankfully, the subway staff were very friendly and quickly found the lost passport. They even delivered it to the airport for us. When it came time for our tearful goodbye, my parents said to me, "Now we understand your choice, and we fully support you."
