"Spell ‘champion,'" Scott told his elder sister.

"C-h-a-m-p-i-o-n."

Unsure about it, Scott still cheered, "You'll win the spelling bee (拼写大赛)!"

Lucy thanked, happy but worried, wondering if her dog Senator would be looked after well when she was away for a week.

"Dad and I will keep him perfectly!" said Scott, dreaming of getting his own pet if he could prove himself.

It was time to leave. Dad wished Lucy good luck.

"See you in a w-e-a-k," Scott said.

"W-e-e-k," Lucy corrected him and said, "Bye!"

Each morning Scott woke up early to feed Senator, leaving a note to remind Dad. After that Scott continued to sleep.

A week later, Lucy returned and told the family she failed. Then she found her dog sick. Scott felt sorry but confused, because he'd been a strict direction-follower.

They came to the animal hospital. After the examination, Lucy was angry, "A terrible stomachache! How could Senator put on two pounds in such a short time?"

Dad said, "I only fed him two scoops of dog food every morning."

Scott shouted, "Dad! You fed him again? Didn't you read my note? It says I've fed him!"

It took Lucy a while to understand before asking Scott how to spell "fed".

"F-e-e-d? Scott! ‘Fed' is spelled f-e-d. But your note says f-e-e-d, telling Dad to feed the dog!"

"So Senator was fed twice?" Dad asked.

Scott said sorry, "I just wanted to be responsible so I could get a dog for my next birthday."

"OK. I'll teach you how to spell correctly and train myself for next year's spelling bee," Lucy said.

"You have a few months to practice before you get one for your birthday," Dad added. 

Scott burst into laughter.

"Having a little brother isn't so bad," Lucy told Senator, "if he can help f-e-e-d!"

Bella was playing basketball when she saw a car pulled up in Jill's driveway. Jill jumped out of the car, laughing and waving goodbye happily towards the car.

Bella watched as the car drove away. Her eyes started to water."Hey, what's wrong?"Mom asked."Nothing. I don't want to play any more."Bella shut the door heavily."How could Jill do that to me? I thought we were friends."

There was a knock on the door. Her mom called outside,"Bella, are you OK?"Bella ignored(不理睬) it and put her pillow(枕头) over her head."I'll be downstairs if you want to talk later. It's a good choice to calm(平静)yourself down first."

Finally, Bella calmed down and went to talk with her mom. Her mom always had some good ideas to help her.

"What's going on, Bella?"Mom asked.

" Jill went somewhere with our friends and she didn't invite me," Bella said."Why wouldn't she ask me? I thought we were friends."

"Oh, honey, I'm sorry. I'd be very sad too if I felt left out. Maybe Jill knew that you wouldn't like what they were going to do,"Mom said.

"Maybe …"Bella wasn't sure.

"Why don't you talk with Jill about it at school on Monday?"

"I don't want to talk to her. I'm angry! I'm just going to ignore her."

"Well ... sometimes ignoring another person is a good choice, but if you ignore her, how can you solve the problem? Not talking about it is just going to make it worse, and you might lose Jill as a friend."

"OK, Mom,I'll talk to her at school. Thanks."

And guess what? Bella's mom was right! Jill knew Bella didn't like snakes,and she and the other girls went to the zoo to see the new snake show. Bella was glad she talked to Jill to solve the problem.

Children's Day is next Sunday, but Dong Fei is not happy. Her father is in Beijing. He is very busy and can not come back to Nanjing. Now, Dong Fei is in her room with Lin Min, her cousin. Dong Fei says,"I don't think I'm important(重要的) to my father. He is always busy with his work. Next Sunday is Children's Day. But he can not come back."

The telephone rings and Dong Fei goes to answer it. It's from her father." Feifei, can you come to the airport(机场) at 4:00 next Sunday afternoon? I can be there for only an hour. I have something for you."

" Yes, Daddy! Yes!" says Dong Fei.

After Dong Fei puts down the telephone, her cousin says," Well, I think your father really loves you. What about you? Do you love him?"

" Yes." says Dong Fei.

" Well, do you know it's Father's Day today?" Liu Min says.

" Oh, what? I'm so sorry." says Dong Fei.

Connor Halsa is a 15-year-old boy. One day, he caught a wallet while fishing with his family on Lake of the Woods. Connor opened the wallet and found there was some money in it. He showed everyone the wallet. Then they took out the money and put it all on the ground to make it dry. 

There was a total of $2, 000 inside the wallet. "My dad said we should give the wallet back to the owner. We did it. We found a business card in the wallet and called the number. At last, we got in touch with the owner, who was a farmer named Jim Denney, " Connor said. 

A month ago, Jim Denney was fishing in the same lake. His wallet slipped (滑落) out of his pocket and fell into the water. He didn't even realize it was missing until he had to pay for the boat trip. But he gave up looking for the wallet because the lake was so huge that it was nearly impossible to find the wallet. 

Jim Denney made the trip to meet Connor and his family. "To thank them, I tried to give them some money, but they refused, " he said. 

Last weekend my father, my mother, my sister and I went to summer camp. We went to Mountain Ermei. It was a very sunny but windy day. We got to the foot of the mountain by bus. In the middle of the mountain there was a clean river. I washed my face with the water. It was a little warm. There were some fishes in the river, too. In the mountain there were many beautiful flowers. At noon, lots of people got together, and they were very friendly. We had lunch in the mountain. The food was very nice, and we liked it very much. After lunch, we went on our trip. Finally we got to the top of the mountain. From there we could see everything below because of the fine weather. I felt like I was flying in the sky. We had a wonderful time.
