    The film Alice Through the Looking Glass is on. Millions of people go to cinemas to see it. The little girl Alice, with long hair of gold, is alive in people's mind again after the film Alice in  Wonderland was shown in 2010.

    These two popular films were adapted from the novels Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Through the Looking﹣Glass Both of them were written by Lewis Carroll, a famous English writer, who himself was as interesting as his books.

Many other strange characters such as the Mouse, the March Hare, the Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts were brought to this wonderful world too.

    Alice Liddell loved the story and she begged Carroll to write it down for her. After Carroll finished the manuscript of the story Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, he gave it to the girl as a Christmas present. When the book was published shod in 1865. It was an immediate success, and soon was famous around the world.

    Gift giving is different from culture to culture and person to person.

    When giving gifts, sometimes color is important. For example, for many Chinese people around the world, red is a lucky color, and people often like to pack gifts in this color. However, did you know that in Korea, red is a color of death? That is why you should not pack gifts in this color if you are giving a gift to a Korean person.

    What about western countries? In western countries, the color of packing paper is not really important. But color does matter when giving flowers, especially roses. You should not give red roses to a western person you don't know very well because they are a symbol of love. You could give yellow roses instead as these are a symbol of friendship.     What other things should you remember when giving gifts to someone from a different culture? Well, one thing you should keep in mind is the person's religion. When choosing a gift for a Muslim or Jewish friend, you should never get good food including pork or things made from pigskin. Another thing that you shouldn't get for a Muslim person is alcohol.

    Lao Men Dong (also known as East Zhonghua Gate Historical Culture Block) is a well-known place of interest in Qinhuai District, Nanjing. It is not big, but has attracted visitors of the whole city and the whole country as well.
