People in Los Angeles love cars very much. The city is very big, and its public transportation (公共交通) is slow. So people drive everywhere. But now, a lot of people who like riding are trying to get people out of their cars but on bikes.

Devon says he has to be careful when he rides his bike on the streets. "A lot of people drive very fast, and it's very difficult to be careful." Although riding a bike to work can be dangerous, he likes to ride his bike to work. "It's much better than driving a car. For example, I don't have to think about where to park the car."

Roger drives to work. "You always have to look at the both sides because someone would rush (冲) across by bike. Or you can easily get into an accident."

 If some people live and work near each other, they can ride to work together to make the bike ride relaxing. They call a "bike train". Anna helps make the group—L. A．Bike Trains. "You're in a big group. If you're afraid of riding alone, you can now ride with other people." Anna says that people would feel safer (更安全的) by riding together in a group.

 You and your family are planning a picnic for tomorrow. But you want to 1 the weather forecast(预报) first to see whether there will be rain or not. Your father turns on the television and the family listens to the2 make the weather report.

I studied French for 2 years in high school, and German for 4 years in college and got good marks. I studied Chinese for about 4 months before moving to China. For any language, if you don't use it, it will be easy to lose it I've forgotten the French l leaned except for a few phrases. I speak Chinese every day. My writing, reading and listening are quite good, but far from fluent. I think it's necessary to learn Chinese.

Learning any language can be valuable, but it is not suitable for everyone. Chinese is a difficult language to learn, and teachers in the UK are not good at teaching foreign languages. However, China is a big and developing market for English businesspeople. For them, Chinese is worth learning.

 Hello, everyone. My name is Tom. It was fine last Saturday. My parents and I were so excited, because we visited the farm in the village. We took a car there in the early morning. After about two hours, we arrived there. Firstly, we took some photos in front of the gate. After that, one of the farmers showed us around the farm. On the farm, there are some crops(庄稼) and vegetables. They grow very well. We picked some fresh vegetables there. They cost(花费) us fifty yuan. At noon, we had lunch in a local restaurant. The food there was very fresh and delicious. In the afternoon, we helped the farmers feed the chickens and milk the cows. We felt they were so interesting.

The Chinese lunar calendar（Nongli） is the traditional Chinese calendar and is often used in agriculture（农业）. In the Chinese calendar, the beginning of the year falls somewhere between late January and early February.

According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the crescent （新月） appears on the first day of each month and full moon comes out in the middle of the month. The cycle lasts for about 30 days.24 days mark 24 divisions of the solar year in the Chinese lunar calendar, according to the different positions of the sun. For example, the division "Lichun" or "the Beginning of Spring" reminds people that spring is coming. "Jingzhe" or "the Awakening of Insects" means that the weather is getting warmer. "Lixia" or "the Beginning of Summer" is the point that crops are blooming. "Dahan" or "the Major Cold" is the end of severe winter. All these create a circle. 
Year after year people experience the mysteries of nature with the Chinese lunar calendar.24 solar terms are helpful for Chinese people to predict the changes of weather in daily life, especially for peasants.

The dates of most of the traditional festivals base on the Chinese lunar calendar. Some countries belonging to the Chinese-character cultural circle, such as Japan, Korea, and Vietnam also celebrate the traditional festivals, such as the Spring Festival（Chinese New Year）, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival and so on.

Although Chinese firstly adopted（采用） the Western calendar in 1912, the Chinese lunar calendar, as one of the most important carriers of Chinese culture, is still widely used among Chinese people.
