完形填空

Like two different worlds

I come from London in England- a very big city! Over 81people live there, and it's always busy with tourists. So moving to a little town2only 15 ,000 people was a big change for me! I am living in a little town in Germany now.

In the countryside, the towns are3so everyone knows each other. At home in London, I don't even know my neighbours! Another nice thing about the countryside is that it's very green and there's lots of fresh air. I like nature, and it's nice to see4the seasons change the trees. My favourite thing about living in the countryside is that at night I can see thousands of5. At home I can hardly see any! That's because there's6light in the city, but here everything is dark and the stars twinkle in the sky.

One thing I do like about living in a city is that it's7to travel. We have the subways, buses and trains, and we even have buses that run all night. Here, the last train is before 9 pm, and there's only one in an hour! Another good thing about cities is that there are lots of8 , so you can usually find what you need. Here there aren't many shops,9I have to go to the nearest city!

I always thought I was a city girl, but now I like the countryside too. They are like two different worlds, but10are like home !

Poetry (诗) is a creative way to express your ideas and views in words. Many writers enjoy poetry because there are no real rules to writing a poem. Even so, there are some useful suggestions that can help you write poetry.

Keep reading

{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Reading poets' work can help you explore what kind of poetry you might like to write. Ask a teacher for advice, or visit your local library. You can check out books about poetry like A Journal of Poems by Kristine George, Poems About Soccer by Elizabeth Steinglass.

Pick a subject

When thinking about what to write, pay attention to what's around you. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} It can be anything from a sport you love to a nice place you've visited. You can also get ideas from subjects that matter to you, such as protecting the planet.

Start writing

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Write down anything that touches you, from colors to smells to sounds. From there, you can start writing your poem. Once you have a draft ready, you can put it away for a day. Then read your poem again and improve it.

Share it with someone

After you finish your poem, read it to a family member, a teacher, or even your pet. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (We'd love to read your poem! Have an adult send it to us at hello@theweekjunior.com.)

A. Here's how to read your poems.

B. Saying a poem out can bring it to life.

C. Keep a small notebook or a note to write your ideas.

D. The best way to become a better writer is to be a reader first.

E. You could also spend some time thinking about what you love.

Which of the suggestions above is the most useful to you? Why? (用约20词回答){#blank#}5{#/blank#}

 阅读下面语言材料,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳选项。

Have you heard of depression(抑郁症)? It's a mental illness. People who have it may feel轮sad all the time or do something to hurt themselves. Now, doctors can put a"happy switch(开关)" in their heads to help them. The "happy switch" is a kind of Brain-Computer Interface (BCI, 脑机接口). It works like a bridge— it connects your brain to a computer. Some BCIs can influence people's brain activities. Some can let people control the computer with their thoughts.

Doctors at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital helped a patient called Wu Xiaotian. Wu, 31, has had depression since he was 15years old.

The doctors did a surgery on Wu. They put two long lines of electrodes(电极) inside his brain. The 16 electrodes are used to let out electricity on different parts of the brain, which can change the patient's feelings. The electrodes are connected to a small "box"—the power source(电源)—inside Wu's body.

Wu can control the"happy switch"remotely via an app on his phone. When feeling down,Wu turns on the switch and the electrodes start working. He is soon cheered up. "It feels like there is power rising from the inside of my body," Wu said.

"The hospital has tested the switch on 26 patients since 2020. Up to now , it has helped cut down a patient's sad feelings by 60 percent," said the hospital.

But is the switch safe enough? Although patients like Wu feel great using it, the implant surgery is actually a dangerous one. Also, doctors have to make sure that patients don't rely on it. Healthy people shouldn't use it, or it may be like a kind of addiction(瘾) for them.
