Molly and David live in a big house with their parents. Molly is twelve years old and David is fourteen years old. They are both middle school students in Zhonghua Middle School. Every morning, they get up at 6:45 and have a big breakfast. Molly eats eggs, bread and corn and David eats sandwiches and eggs. Molly usually drinks milk and fruit juice and she likes orange and apple juice very much. David always drinks cola and coffee（咖啡）. His mom tells him that it is not good for his health. 'For lunch, Molly usually eats healthy food like rice, chicken, fish and pork（猪肉） with some vegetable soup but David'only likes chicken and fish. He doesn't like green vegetables or fruit at all. When he goes shopping with his mom; he buys a lot of food to eat and he likes Latiao very much. Sometimes, his mom is not happy about him. 

Sometimes when the rain falls hard and fast on you, it might hurt a little. But what happens when it hits a mosquito(蚊子)?

In 2012, David Hu, a scientist at Georgia Tech, became interested in this problem and decided to do a research. He used a high- speed camera so that he could watch the mosquitoes in very slow motion and find out what they' re doing when they' re out in the rain.

What he found is that when a raindrop falls on a mosquito, it's like when a bus hits a person. Besides, the little insect(昆虫) is hit by a raindrop about once every 20 seconds. So why don't we see many dead mosquitoes after it rains?

A mosquito is as big as a raindrop, but it is much lighter—0.002g only. This saves its life in raindrop hits. Because the mosquito is so light, when it is hit by a raindrop, it won't experience a force that is strong enough to kill it.

The study also found that when a mosquito is hit by a raindrop, the insect is pushed by the raindrop and falls together with it. But the mosquito doesn't get wet easily because it is covered with hairs which keep off water. After dropping about 6 cm, it will roll off the raindrop and fly away.

However, this trick isn't always successful. If the mosquito flies too low when it is hit by the raindrop, it won't have time to fly off. Then it will hit the ground and meet its death.

The Chinese pingfeng (folding screen) is an ancient invention and traditional Chinese furniture(家具). Its earliest common use dates from the Han Dynasty. The term pingfeng means protection from wind. showing its purpose at the very beginning. 

As time passes, it has been made into different sizes with colourful paintings. On screens usually appears a dragon. It's a symbol of light, growth and life-giving water. It also stands for nobility and power. The peacock, a beautiful bird, can be seen on screens, too. It's a symbol of everlasting life. Beautiful flowers, which mean wealth and good luck, are also chosen as a popular design of the pingfeng. All the designs carry people's beautiful wishes. 

Behind the pingfeng lies an interesting story. In the past the unmarried daughter of a rich family was not supposed to see or be seen by men except her father, brothers or very close male cousins. When an admirer paid a visit, however, she might take a secret look at him from a screen behind which she would be completely hidden. Her father would discuss poems with the young man and ask him to create one. If the daughter and her father were satisfied with the young man's poem and his looks, she might agree to take him as a husband. 

Today the pingfeng is back in fashion for its beauty and its practical(实际的) use as furniture. Acting as a moving wall or divider, it can be the perfect match(相配) for modern sofas and walls, which adds style to them. 

The pingfeng is more than beautiful furniture.

Confucius liked music education. Confucius believed music education was useful. He thought music could make people and things different. And he believed that music could make people get on well with each other. So music made it possible for the society to develop well.
