When I was fifteen years old, I became very interested in shopping. I had many things that I no longer needed at home. I knew with the help of my father, I could make money. For months and months I enjoyed myself by selling things on my dad's bank account.

On July 18th, 2015, I made my own account and began to start my own business. Things were going great and then I realized that selling things around the house wasn't enough for me. I went around to the yard sale and bought things at low prices and sold them at higher prices to make money.

Last October, I went to a yard sale that was a little bit different. A lady had many nice things to sell. Through the communication, I knew she was jobless at the moment and needed money to feed her family. I thought I could do it better and more quickly for her. So I made up my mind to help her out. She looked at me for a while and then said yes. When I gave her the money, she broke down into tears thankfully.

I know my skills could be used to help those in need and that even one small act of kindness could make a difference.

A. I bought all her things.

B. So I decided to increase my business by running a re-sale shop.

C. And I decided to stop my business.

D. I went up to her and had a conversation with her.

E. I have never felt so pleased to help someone in my life.

F. After being just a buyer for a while, I wanted to sell something.

G. After that I took away some of her things and over the next month I made $ 1,500 for her!

举一反三
Here is a 2-way student exchange. Fred, 19 , spent last year in Germany with George's family. In turn, George's son Mike spent a year in Fred's home in America.
Fred knew little German when he arrived. But after 2 months of studying, the language became easy for him. School was very different from what he had looked forward to and it was much harder. Students stood up politely when the teacher came into the room. They took 14 subjects while American students usually took 6 in the US.
Family life, too, was different. The father's word was the law(法律) . All the children had to do their activities with their family. Fred also missed having a car. In Germany, you should walk to go out to have a good time.
At the same time, in America, Mike was forming his own ideas. He says,' American schools are too easy for our level but I have to say that I like it a lot in Germany , we do nothing except study. Here we take part in many other activities.

Waste sorting(垃圾分类) is a big matter worldwide. In order to sort the rubbish properly and protect the environment, people in different countries are using different methods to sort their waste.

UK A UK company invented a "smart bin" to help with waste sorting. People just need to drop their waste into the bin(垃圾箱). A camera and sensors(感应器) in the bin can tell what type of rubbish it is and correctly sort it. The bin also compresses(压缩) the waste so it takes up less space.

South Korea South Korea is using a method called "Pay For Your Waste" to encourage its people to reduce food waste. When throwing away rubbish, people have to separate their food waste from their other rubbish and put it in a bin. The smart bin then weighs the food. People have to pay for their food waste by scanning(扫描) a barcode(条形码) on the bin. If they throw away more rubbish, they will pay more.

Japan Japan is leading the world in waste sorting. They sort waste so carefully that even plastic bottles and their caps go into different bins. Different types of paper products have their own bins.

China China is improving its waste sorting efforts. Shanghai has worked with Alipay to create a "green account(账户)"service for its residents(居民). The city is asking all of its residents to sort their waste into four groups: wet, recyclable, harmful and dry.
