If you had billions of dollars, would you donate almost all of it to charity? Well, that's what Mark Zuckerburg, CEO and founder of Facebook, just said he would do.
    Zuckerburg and his wife Priscilla Chan promised to give 90% of their Facebook shares to society. Right now that is about $45 billion, and they plan to donate the money to things like science and education.
    Many billionaires have done similar things. Bill Gates, creator of Microsoft, made The Giving Pledge, an activity in which billionaires promise donate more than half of their wealth to charities. This started in 2010, and now 139 people from 15 countries joined it.
    But giving back and helping others isn't just for big billionaires. People like Zuckerberg, and Gates may have more to give, but people with less are doing it, too.
    Especially around the holidays, people want to do their part and give back to people who are less lucky than them. Schools may have food collections where people bring a few food items, and together they can make a big donation to places like homeless people's homes.
    People also host special events like concerts of runs to be creative while raising money. Regular people donate whatever they can to US charities like the United Way and the American Red Cross.
    Then these charities are able to help US communities in different ways like education, health and improving the lives of the poor. These individual donations come together to make a big difference.

Hangzhou, together with five other cities in Zhejiang, hosted the 19th Asian Games from Sept 23 to Oct 8, 2023. The Games were very "smart" with the use of many exciting technologies. Let's have a look!

The venue (会场) can change for different kind of weather.

The venue for the tennis finals (决赛) of the Hangzhou Asian Games is sometimes called the "Small Lotus (莲花)". On the top of the stadium, there are eight "petals" (花瓣). They can open and close freely. It's built this way for different kinds of weather.

Drones can help with first aid during the Asian Games.

What if there's an accident during the game and the athletes need first aid? Drones (无人机) can be used to send things over. They can fly as far as 20 kilometers and travel 16 meters in one second. Using a drone saves about 60 percent of the time, according to the drone maker Antwork.

This AI system keeps athletes' food safe.

Every dish at the Asian Games should be safe and healthy to eat. In the kitchen of the athletes' village in Hangzhou, there is a special system that can tell people's faces. If a "stranger" goes into the kitchen, an alarm will go off to let people know.

A Good Idea

There was asign on the bridge. It says, "Danger! Low(低的)  bridge." But the driver of the van did not see it. When he drove the van through the bridge , there came a terrible noise(声音), and the van suddenly stopped just under the bridge.

The driver tried to drive the van back, but he couldn't move it. The men passing by tried to help him move the van out of the bridge. They pushed(推)and pushed ,but they could not move the van back.

The driver telephoned a garage(修理厂) and, a few minutes later, a truck gothere from the garage. The man from the truck tied(拴) the van to the truck. Then he tried to use the truck to pull(拉) the van out. The truck pulled, and the men pushed, but the van did not move at all.

The men got very tired and stopped pushing. Other people were angry because they could not move their cars. No one knew what to do. Then a little girl had an idea. She pulled the truck driver's armand wanted to say something to him. The truck driver did not notice(注意)her, but the girl pulled his arm again. This time the truck driver listened, and the little girl said something in his ear.

There was a smile on the truck driver's face. He nodded(点头) when he was listening to the girl's words. He went to the van and pressed(按压) the mouths on the van's tyres(轮胎),The air came out and the van began to come down. Then the van's driver drove the van out easily.

Do you often play with your cellphone before bedtime? According to a study, 72% of the students use their cellphones in their sleep environment. Scientists have found a "strong connection" between the use of cellphones at bedtime and poor sleep.

A good breakfast is very important. You will understand it. By breakfast time you have not eaten anything for twelve hours. Your body needs energy for morning activities(活动). One good breakfast can serve enough energy. It should be rice or bread, an egg. milk and fruit. On a cold morning, a cup of hot milk is necessary(必需的). A good breakfast helps you to smile more easily. It helps you to be more friendly and also to work better and play more happily. Your whole day will be more fun after you have enjoyed a good breakfast.
