My mother took me to visit the orphanage (孤儿院) last weekend. I spent some {#blank#}1{#/blank#} with the children there. I couldn't sleep that night{#blank#}2{#/blank#} I kept thinking about them. I thought they must be unhappy without parents. I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to do something for them. I would like to go there {#blank#}4{#/blank#}month and spend some time with them. A month later, I went back there on my birthday and {#blank#}5{#/blank#} them some chocolate. They {#blank#}6{#/blank#} my name and it made me happy. We played and sang together and the children were very {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. They prayed for {#blank#}8{#/blank#} that day. They didn't know much about me {#blank#}9{#/blank#} they were very kind. We should care more about the orphans and try to help {#blank#}10{#/blank#}live a happy life.

When I was a little girl, my favorite thing was a shoebox, I filled it up {#blank#}1{#/blank#} pieces of paper that I had gathered. The shoebox{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(call) "Post Office" in my heart. I would take it from under my bed and pour my "letters" on the floor, and then put{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(they) back into the box.

This led me to pick up {#blank#}4{#/blank#} new hobby—writing letters to children I had never met. It was magical{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(send) my written pages to people who I would never talk to. My best penfriends Alastair{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(live) far away from me. It was to Alastair that I first {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(proud) showed my dream of being a songwriter. I started to discover my favorite bands and thought about{#blank#}8{#/blank#} I should write a song or not.

In my early teens, I wrote to the{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(kid) I had met on school trips and boys at other schools. The freedom I found to express myself in letters is one of my {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(great) memories of childhood.

As I now create music, I always remember my childhood hobbies. Releasing new songs is similar to sending out handwritten letters. My "Post Office" is where I got started.

In 1971, a poor young man was traveling across the country, trying to make a new start for himself. On the way, he had run out of his{#blank#}1{#/blank#}so he had no food to eat and had to live in his car.

One morning, after a week of sleeping in his car, he walked into a restaurant and ordered a big breakfast. After eating his first good meal in weeks, he found he had to{#blank#}2{#/blank#}to the waiter, telling him he had lost his wallet. He was so embarrassed(尴尬的) that his face turned red. The waiter, also the owner, walked behind the young man's seat. He bent down(弯腰), and stood up{#blank#}3{#/blank#}a $20 bill in his hand. It seemed as if it had fallen on the floor. "Son, you must have dropped this." the owner said. The young man was so{#blank#}4{#/blank#}that he couldn't believe his eyes! He quickly{#blank#}5{#/blank#}for the breakfast and went out.

On the way out of town, he realized, "{#blank#}6{#/blank#}nobody dropped the money at all. Maybe the owner of the restaurant just knew I was in trouble and he helped me in a way that didn't embarrass me. What a kind person he is! {#blank#}7{#/blank#}I have the chance in the future; I will do the same to help others."

Now older, the man lives near Kansas City. Each year he gives away thousands of dollars to poor people. He is regarded{#blank#}8{#/blank#}the "Secret Father Christmas", because at Christmas time each year, he personally hands money out to those homeless people on the streets. Last year, he gave more than $50,000 away in Kansas City.

Rick is fifteen years old. He is from England and he is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} good boy. He {#blank#}2{#/blank#} up at 6:30 every morning, and then he cleans the house. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} about 7:00, he eats breakfast and then goes to school. He has four classes in the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} and three in the afternoon. Of all the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, he likes English best because he thinks it's very useful. In the afternoon, Rick goes {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. He helps his mother buy food or wash the car for his {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. His little sister sometimes helps {#blank#}8{#/blank#} do some things. He feels a little {#blank#}9{#/blank#} because he does lots of things every day. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} he is very happy because he can do something for his family.

Bob likes to play sports, but he doesn't have any things for sports. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} He wants to buy a volleyball and two pairs of ping - pong bats, too. He goes to the sports store. The basketballs are $ 10, volleyballs are $ 9 and ping- pong bats are $ 5 for a pair. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Then he buys a basketball, a volleyball and two pairs of ping- pong bats. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} And then he wants to buy a soccer ball. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} He thinks it's too expensive(贵的).

" I want it for $ 12. Is that OK?" says Bob to the salesman(销售员).

Jing Baoshan，69，lives a quiet life in Pinglu County， "Baoshan" 1 "protecting the mountains"，something he seems to have been doing in his life. 

In 1970，the then 17-year-old 2 the army and became a soldier. After 17 years，Jing3 to his I hometown in Pinglu and worked as a forest ranger （护林员）. He worked there for 25 years until he retired in 2012.4 his 25 years of service，he worked alone most of the time and met a number of5 situations. Fighting forest fires was one of them. 

In 2000，he was patrolling （巡逻） when he found one fire. He called for6 from the closest village. As more firemen made their way，Jing and five farmers were7 the fire when the wind suddenly changed direction. Four of the farmers8 . Jing and the surviving farmer were9 hurt. He felt very sad for those farmers' deaths and that was one of the reasons why he decided to devote （奉献） the rest of his life to the forest. 

On October 1^st ， 2019，Jing was invited to the ceremony10 the 70th anniversary （周年纪念）of the founding of the People' s Republic of China. He said he would11 forget it for the rest of his life. 

Now，Jing continues to12 the forest as a volunteer at least once every two weeks. Smart GPS plays a very important role in keeping the rangers13 today. Jing believes the14 show the country's development. More importantly，he said that people are now coming to15 the importance of a well﹣ protected environment.
