Last month, we went for a school trip to a group of islands called Langkawi. It was exciting at first, but by the end of the day, I'd say it was a trip full of pain.

We got up early and jumped onto the boats. As the engine(引擎) of the boats worked, snow-white bubbles came out from below the boats, and the breezes (微风)touched our faces.

The first island we arrived at was called the Island of the Pregnant Maiden. We were allowed into the water for about half an hour, and I had fun playing with my classmates in the water. All was fine until one of my water shoes fell into the lake.

So I had to do the rest of the trip with only one shoe on.

When we first walked through the forest, I thought it was a nice walk. But with only one shoe, my foot came across either cold shards (玻璃碎片) or hot stones along the way. As the time went on, the land became increasingly jagged (凹凸不平的). I winced (皱起脸) with every step I took. But then something magical happened-I found a pretty seashell! I felt like I had found gold and all the pain was worth it.

The trip was a valuable experience-the beautiful sea views and the beach treasure hunt were wonderful moments for me. I've learnt an important lesson from that day, which is not to focus on the bad memories, but to remember the cheerful feelings and value them.

The moon was behind a cloud. And there weren't many stars in the sky. It was a dark night. I saw a glow (光) in my neighbor's kitchen. I thought he was having a night meal. So I went back to my bed.

Soon there was a smell of burning in the air and I thought there was probably something wrong. I jumped out of bed quickly and went out to make sure. I saw fire coming out of my neighbor's kitchen. Then I shouted, "Fire! Fire!" But no one in the neighborhood heard my shouts for help.

I ran into my house, called the firemen and went back to my neighbor's house. I knocked on the door hard and called out my neighbor's name, but there was no answer. Finally I got into the house and saved a cat and a dog.

I tried to pour water through the kitchen window but it didn't work. It was a big fire. Luckily, the firemen arrived over ten minutes later and stopped the fire.

When my neighbor came back, he was sad for his kitchen but he thanked me for calling the firemen and saving his pets. He wanted to give me some money but I did not accept it.

Weeks later, my neighbor had a new kitchen. He invited me to see his new kitchen and we enjoyed a big meal there. It made me very happy. After that, he became my best friend.

Bees are truly fascinating insects that we often see flying around gardens or woods. They move from one flower to another and might even come inside our homes. They make the skies of gardens or forests more beautiful with their presence. 

What does a bee look like? A bee has six legs and two sets of wings on each side of its body. Its body is divided into three parts: the head, thorax, and abdomen. Bees have two feelers on their heads called antennae and two large eyes on each side. They come in different colors and shapes. 

Then, are all bees the same? No, they come in different colors and shapes, and there are many different kinds of bees. In Ireland, there are 101 different kinds of bees. However, only honey bees make honey that we eat, while other bees don't make honey at all. There is only one kind of honey bee that lives in Ireland. The places that honey bees live in are also different, including hives（蜂箱）, holes and even nests made from leaves. 

What does a bee eat? Bees feed themselves with nectar and pollen, which they collect from dowers. Nectar, a sweet liquid（液体）found in flowers, serves as the primary energy source for bees. Honey bees use itto make honey. Meanwhile, yellow pollen sticks to the bees' hairy legs as they gather food. 

Why are bees important? While we enjoy honey as a sweet treat and beeswax（蜂蜡）for candle-making, bees play a far more important role in our life. Besides, bees are very important to the environment because they bring pollen from one plant to another on their hairy legs. Without the hardworking bees, the growth of fruits and crops would be seriously affected, highlighting their special role in protecting our environment and food supply. 

Dust storms（沙尘暴） appear when strong wind blows sand and dirt from a dry surface. Strong dust storms may cause deaths, so you should know how to protect yourself from dust storms when you meet them.

①We all think that history is really important, but how much does it actually matter?

②A famous writer from the 20th and 21st centuries, Michael Crichton, once said, If you don't know history, you don't know anything. You are a leaf that doesn't know it is part of a tree. "But not everyone agrees. George Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, a philosopher from the 19th century, said, "The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing. "Karl Marx from the 19th century said, "History repeats itself first as a tragedy, second as a farce(闹剧). So, we do learn from history, but that doesn't mean we don't make the same mistakes again.

③However, in my eyes, history tells us where we come from, what we did right, and what we did wrong. It gives us warnings for the future and helps us move forward with knowledge. We might repeat mistakes, but at least we can move forward with our eyes open.

④As we head into the future, it's important to know not only our own history but the one of our neighbor countries. What better ways to understand a country than through its people?

X-rays were discovered in 1895 by a German professor, Wilhelm Roentgen. People all over the world were amazed by his invention, the X-ray machine. This invention was so important that Roentgen won the first Nobel Prize for Physics in 1901.

The telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell, a doctor and speech teacher. The first phone call was made by Bell in 

1876. He got acid (酸) on his pants by accident and wanted his partner, Thomas Watson, to help him. The first words spoken on the telephone were "Mr. Watson, come here! I need you!"

Television was invented in 1926 by John Logie Baird, a Scottish inventor. Baird's television certainly didn't look like a television today! Electronic televisions like the ones we have today were invented by Vladimir Zworykin in the 1920s in the United States.

The first computer was built in 1946 by two American engineers, J. Presper Eckert and John W. Mauchly. It was developed for the army, and it was so large that it took up a whole room! Later, in 1971, the "microchip" was invented, and small home computers were first produced for personal use. Today computers are used in almost everything we do and are found almost everywhere we go.
