阅读下列短文,从每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。

Ladies and gentlemen, I returned to this year in a time machine. In the year 2500, we are able to travel through time to any year in the history of the earth. This year is your last chance your lifestyle to save the earth.

Beginning in the middle of the 20th century, a few people were worried about polluting the earth's water and air, but most people did not change their way of life. Instead, they continued to pour(倒) dangerous chemical(化学物品) and other waste into lakes and seas, to drive more and more cars and trucks, and to cut down trees.

By the year 2200, the earth's water was completely polluted. People could no longer drink water, and they had to use other types of liquids(液体). Scientists said that in the future there might be too many people on the earth. But not enough was done.

So by the year 2300, there were so many people that food became scarce. There was no water to grow food and all of the fish in lakes and seas died because of pollution. Terrible wars broke out between the rich and the poor. Scientists were working very hard to find another planet in space where humans could live.

By the year 2400, the air was too polluted for humans to breathe. So we had to leave the earth. But only the rich were able to leave. Where did we go? Nowhere. And everywhere. You see scientists did not find another safe planet, so now we must travel around the universe in our space ships. We are still looking for a place to call our home.

So it is up to you to change history. There is still hope. You must change your lifestyle now, before it is too late.

Thousands of years ago, people didn't know that the Earth moved. They thought the sun really did move across the sky. The Greek god Helios was said to drive the sun around the sky with his chariot(战车). But now, these ideas have all changed. Nowadays, it is the sun that drives our “chariot”around the sky.
So what does all this mean? Well, quite simply, there is now a plane (or “chariot”) that is powered by the sun. It has special parts in its wings. These parts absorb power from the sun. They absorb so much power that they can carry on flying at night. In the Greek myths(希腊神话), Helios had to take a break at night. It seems we're finally even more efficient than the gods themselves.
This plane is called Solar Impulse (“太阳驱动”号). It will fly across the US in May. This is very important for the future of the world.
So why is solar energy so good for us? Well, other kinds of energy cause a few problems. If you live in China, you've probably noticed the pollution. This is caused by burning coal or gas to make energy. The heat and chemicals(化学制品)from this make things work. But if we use the heat from the sun, we don't have to burn anything, and there's no pollution.
Solar energy is not all there yet. It needs to be improved. But the best thing about it is that, unlike coal and gas, it doesn't run out. Solar Impulse could keep flying forever. Well, actually, the sun will run out too, one day, but not for another 5 billion years. That's a pretty long flight.

We humans produce a lot of waste every day.We pour it onto the environment. This waste often gives off gases and dusts into the air.Often.it is harmful both to nature and to our human life.

Do you know one of the main causes of the large amount of dangerous waste? It is people who do not realize how big a problem it is.Because it can be simply removed and sent to a landfill(废渣填埋场).The problem is often believed to end there. In addition, industries are not willing to find ways to deal with the dangerous waste. They think it will cost money. Many industries and governments build simple landfills to store waste. They often just pour waste chemicals into nearby bodies of water.Often, the chemicals used for industrial production cause dangerous forms of waste. The amount of these chemicals has increased greatly in the past.It is often difficult and expensive to get rid of them.It is also hard to store them in a safe way.

Every year, major health problems result from dangerous waste.Sadly, often only after someone has died or become seriously ill,and then the governments will take measures to reduce the levels of harmful waste.

Some governments have realized how serious the dangerous waste problem is.They are now trying to solve this problem. They are also trying to limit the amount of waste industries.

Not only governments but ordinary people must work together to solve the problem. We can choose not to buy those products which produce dangerous waste. Many scientists think waste can be reduced at least one third by using technologies and methods.

What do you usually do on your smartphone? Send text messages, make phone calls or play video games? Now, thanks to a beginner-friendly programming(程序设计) tool, kids can do more than just play games on their smartphones-they can make their own games.

US high school student Samuel Ndungi spent a few months learning how to make apps(应用软件)for smart-phones.

"I was really shocked that you could do this on your own," Ndungi said "I thought only people from Microsoft and big companies could do this."

Ndungi took a class run by his teacher, Michael Braun. In Braun's class, kids learned how to use the beginner-friendly programming tool to program their own mobile apps.

This tool is called TouchDevelop. It puts basic instructions(基本指令) into blocks of code(代码), and kids can put them together like Legos to run games, stories and other apps.

With TouchDevelop, student Tony Huynh learned how to make his own games. "You get to put your own thoughts into the game, like the animals you want, the kinds of backgrounds you would like to see, and so on," he said.

Another student Shina Williams wrote a program with about 80 lines of code that paints a picture of his childhood Teddy Bear." It's your own creativity, your own mark(印记) of something that's put in there and it stays in there, " she said.

Coding is more than just a job skill. Children who learn coding also find new ways to think, create and express themselves.
