A. Surround(围绕)yourself with English

B. Do exercises and take tests

C. Visit an English-speaking country

D. Don't be afraid to speak English

E. Talk to yourself

Here are some ways to help you learn English.

Most people think a big problem of learning English is worrying. They worry that they won't say right things, so they don't talk at all. In fact, a good way to learn anything is to do it again and again. Learning English needs practice. Don't let your worry stop you from getting what you want.

Put yourself in an English-speaking environment(环境). Put English books around your room, listen to English music, watch English news, movies and TV programs and speak English with your friends. By doing this, you will learn faster and you will begin thinking in English.

Although it sounds a little strange, it can work. When you are doing housework or taking a walk in the park, you can read words to yourself or ask yourself questions and answer them in English.

Many people think that exercises and tests aren't much fun. However, they are really helpful. By doing exercises and taking tests, you can really improve your English.

If English is not a common language in your country, try to take a vacation to an English-speaking country, such as Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom or Australia. It will be interesting and can help you improve your English in a short time.

任务型阅读

Your nose has many important jobs, and is always busy.

Smelling

Smelling helps you gather information about the world around you. A good scent (气体),like flowers, brings you pleasure. A bad scent, like smoke or sour milk, warns you of danger. Most things around you release scent particles (微粒) into the air. These invisible chemicals enter the nose when you breathe. Nerves in the nose send information to the brain to identify a smell. You are able to recognize thousands of smells.

Breathing

Most of the air you breathe enters through your nose. The nose uses hair and mucus (粘液) to clean dust and germs (细菌) out of the air. The air that enters your nose contains oxygen. Your body uses oxygen to unlock the energy in the food you eat.  Even when you sleep, your body needs energy to keep your heart beating and your brain working.

Tasting

Your nose helps you enjoy food. Flavor is a mixture of taste and smell. The smell of the food helps you identify what you are eating. The sense of smell contributes more to (贡献) food flavor than the sense of taste .When you are sick and have a stuffy nose, your food doesn't taste as good because without smell, food loses most of its flavor.

Smell memory

Smells can bring back memories. Your brain uses a process to create a picture in your mind from the odors(气味)you smell. Smells can affect your feelings because the part of the brain that helps you identify smells is close to the area that affects your emotions, mood and memory. More smell memories are collected as you get older.

Your nose has many important jobs, and is more than just a smeller!

According to the dialog, answer the questions.

These days, "What do you want to do when you grow up?" is the wrong question to ask children in the USA. The question should be: "What job are you doing now?"American companies are employing more and more young people as consultants(顾问)to evaluate(评估)products for child consumers. The 12-to-19 age group spends more than $100 billion a year in the USA. Specialist agencies help manufacturers ask kids about all the latest trends in clothes, food and other markets. One company, Teenage Research Unlimited, has groups of teenagers who give their decisions on products like jeans. Another company, Doyle Research Associated, holds two-hour meetings in a room called the "imaginarium". Children are encouraged to play games to get into a creative mood. They have to write down any ideas which come into their heads.

Some manufacturers prefer to do their own market research. The software company Microsoft runs a weekly "Kid's Council" at its headquarter in Seattle, where a group of school children give their decision on the latest products and suggest new ones. They are called young consultants. One 11-yearold consultant, Andrew Cooledge, told them they should make more computer games which are suitable for both boys and girls. Payments for the work are increasingly attractive, Andrew Cooledge was paid$250 and given some software. However, even if their ideas are valuable, the children will never make money. They cannot have the copyright to their ideas.
