The Palace Museum，known as the Forbidden City, is the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (large) and most well {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (reserve) imperial (皇帝的) residence in China today. It is divided into an outer and an inner court with a rectan­gular shape, 960 meters long from north to south and 750 meters in {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (wide) from east to west. It has a splendid history since the Ming Dynasty, and it {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (rebuild) and repaired many times in the past. I was so excited to visit it {#blank#}5{#/blank#} my family last summer vacation. After we passed through the Front Gate, a lot of palaces appeared. The tour guide told us there were almost 8, 700 rooms in the Palace Museum. During the Ming Dynasty, construction began in 1406. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} took 14 years to build the Forbidden City. I was {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (real) surprised that the workers could build it so well {#blank#}8{#/blank#} even today it is not out of style. I could not remember all the names of the buildings，but I took hundreds of beautiful {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (photo) on the way. I think I will never forget the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (amaze) trip I had in Beijing, China and I will go there next time with my friends. 

No one is born a winner. People make themselves into winners by their own 1 .  

I learned this lesson from a(n) 2 many years ago. I took the head coaching job at a school in Baxley, Georgia. It was a small school with a weak football programme.  

 It was a tradition for the school's old team to play against the new team at the end of spring practice. The old team had no coach, and they didn't even practice to 3 the game. Being the coach of the new team, I was excited because I knew we were going to win, but to my disappointment, we were defeated. I couldn't 4 I had got into such a situation. Thinking hard about it, I came to 5 that my team might not be the number one team in Georgia, but they were depending on me. I had to change my 6 about their ability and potential.  

I started doing anything I could to help them build a little 7 . Most importantly, I began to treat them like 8 . That summer, when the other teams enjoyed their vacations, we met every day and 9

passing and kicking the football.  

Six months after suffering our 10 on the spring practice field, we won our first game and our second, and continued to improve. Finally, we faced the number one team in the state. I felt that it would be a

11 for us even if we lost the game. But that wasn't what happened. My boys beat the best team in Georgia, giving me one of the greatest

12 of my life! 

From the experience I learned a lot about how the attitude of the leader can 13 the members of a team. Instead of seeing my boys as losers, I pushed and 14 them. I helped them to see themselves15 , and they built themselves into winners.  

Winners are made, not born. 

Kelli Boehle says her son Nik was an amazing and caring person. Nik was diagnosed(诊断) with cancer in 2008 when he was 17. He passed away in 2012. But Nik's kindness and generosity have lived on long after his death.

After he was diagnosed and started treatment, Nik was granted (给予) a wish experience from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. "For just this period of time, we didn't think about cancer, "Kelli Boehle said. "All we thought about was enjoying our time together."

In 2009, Nik met another young man Nate, who was also going through cancer treatment. He'd been diagnosed a month after turning 18, and Nik learned he was too old to qualify for a wish. The night before Nik passed away, he asked his mother to help ensure that young adults fighting cancer could have their wishes come true too. 

"It was like a seed he planted that just wouldn't stop coming into my mind, " she said. In 2012, Kelli Boehle started Nik's Wish. The nonprofit grants wishes to young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 who are battling cancer. Nate was the organization's first wish recipient. "It's meant to bring them joy and know that they're loved and that we're fighting for them, too, "Kelli Boehle said. 

Recently, 19-year-old Jordan Morrow received her wish to attend a Taylor Swift concert as part of a trip to Los Angeles. For Morrow, who has spent the last year battling brain cancer, going to the concert has done more than lift her spirits. "I think it's something to get me through whatever comes my way, "she said. "And I'm thankful for Nik's Wish for that. "

In the 11 years since Nik passed away, the organization has granted more than 300 wishes across more than 30 states. In the beginning, Kelli Boehle says she wasn't sure she could be a wish maker and work closely with the young adults. But now, it's her favorite thing to do.

Grainne lived alone. My morning routine 1 with her daily walks to and from her gates, and we began having 2 there.

She was an easy conversationalists, with a good habit of focusing 3 on me as we talked. She told me she was 87, and she was surprised I was only 26. I found myself 4 her things I hadn't necessarily told anyone. "I have never felt at home anywhere, I'm traveling to find out where I 5 ." I told her.

We both looked forward to my daily 6 . However, as our friendship grew, my beloved grandfather was seriously ill. I 7 to go back to India soon.

The day before I left Dublin, I went to say goodbye to Grainne. We both knew we were likely talking to each other in person for the 8 time.

Shortly after my return to India, my grandfather 9 . I emailed Grainne telling her "I lost the only person who made me feel less 10 ." Grainne wrote back, an email full of 11 . She said: "I hope you understand you don't fit into places. You fit into 12 . You will always fit where you have people to fit with."

Although I was never able to 13 Grainne again, my friendship with her continued through emails. It was one of the most 14 friendship I've ever known. I was 26 and alone in a foreign country, and she was 87 and alone in her own home. Together we made the world 15 again.

One day as I drove toward my home in a small town, I passed the local bus station. Several passengers had already 1 a bus and were making their way to parked cars or setting off on foot to their various destinations.

I 2 as a group of people crossed the road in front of me. As I watched, I noticed an old lady struggling with a too large suitcase.Witnessing this lady and remembering similar 3 I had experienced in the past when traveling, I called out through the open passenger window, "Excuse me. Would you like a 4 ?" She stopped without answering. I said. "If you want to tell me where you are going, I'll drop you off. That suitcase looks 5 heavy." "Well, all right," she answered. When we got to her 6 , I helped her down with the suitcase. Suddenly, she said, "God bless you, lady. No one has ever given me a(n) 7 like that before. I hope someone will do a good turn for you one day." 

Shortly after 8 the suitcase lady, I decided to spend a day in the mountains. After driving my truck for nearly two hours, I found it had 9 something in the heavy bush, breaking down. Then in the 10 came the roar of motorbikes. I could see a string of bikes coming in my direction. As they drew nearer, I heard a(n) 11 voice say,"Do you need help, ma'am?". I almost sighed with 12 . The bikers formed a group around the truck. A couple of them got underneath it to check.

The whole adventure ended with my truck and me being 13 back to safety. I shall never forget the kindness of the motorcycle riders who 14 . Some people will say it was all just a happy 15 , but personally I like to believe the old proverb, "What goes around, comes around."

Juleus Ghunta is an award-winning children's author, but growing up, he could barely 1 . Raised by a single mother, who often had to make 2 choices about how to use their limited resources－including a decision to send his oldest sister to school, he had been kept home and had no 3 to books as a child.

When Ghunta finally got the opportunity to attend school, he couldn't 4 words, spell, or read with understanding. The situation was made worse by a series of teachers who made him feel 5 . "They were not very patient, not very kind," he said, "I suffered from a deep sense of loss and shame."

Fortunately, a young teacher decided to start a reading program for 6 students. Ghunta was the first to sign up. "The teacher was 7 kind to me." he said, "She had left me with the gift of literacy, and a deeper appreciation of my value as a human being." Under her patient 8 , Ghunta's reading skills gradually improved, and his sense of inadequacy (不足) began to 9 .

After interacting with the young teacher, Ghunta's life took a new 10 . He graduated from high school with a number of academic awards, and went on to college successfully. Nowadays, he is the author of two children's books about 11 difficult experiences in childhood.

In 2010, Ghunta went back to his old school to 12 his old teacher's name, but in vain. However, he still hopes to 13 her one day, so that he can thank her for seeing his 14 . "I would love for her to see the significant impact she has made on my life, and the ways in which I have carried this 15 of her－the hope, the light, with me－and how it continues to be a source of joy."
