One of my best friends went abroad to enjoy her holidays, so the job of looking after her dog Missy has been given to me. A few months ago, Missy came to my friend's house. She looked terrible. She has been abused for a long time.

    When we first visited my friend and Missy, my friend had to gently pull her over on a lead (牵绳) to get her to come to us. She wanted to come but afraid to do so—the poor, beautiful thing. Clearly Missy came to the right home. My friend has given birth to a baby of his own and shows the love of a mother. This is just what Missy needs. Thanks to the love of my friend, she has changed into a new dog step by step. Sadly, she is still afraid of strange humans. I hate to imagine what the dog must have gone through.

    Now, Missy trusts me completely, so I can touch her berry（肚皮）.While standing, she will jump up so gently to be closer to me, putting her paws（爪子）on my legs as she looks at me with those beautiful eyes.

    Missy is really brave. She has the courage to try again, to open her hearts, and to know that not everyone is the same kind of people as before. Keep it in mind that tomorrow is another day.

    Mrs Smith is going shopping with her son. They are looking for a present for Mr Smith's birthday. Mrs Smith wants to buy her husband a new camera and Tom wants to buy his father a jumper.

    They drive to the department store on the high street. Mrs Smith uses the lift to go to the Electrical Department on the third floor and Tom goes straight to the Men's Clothing Department on the first floor.

    When Mrs Smith gets to the Electrical Department, she finds that cameras are sold in the Photography Department on the ground floor. So she takes the lift down and asks the sales assistant there for some help. She doesn't know much about cameras and needs some advice. The sales assistant recommends(推荐) an automatic camera by Olympus, but it is too expensive. She asks the assistant if he has anything a little cheaper and he tells her about a special offer on the Pentax range. It still seems expensive, so she thanks the assistant and decides to shop around first.

    Meanwhile, Tom is looking at the jumpers. He only has ￡10, so he can't buy most of them. He sees his mother and they decide to go to the smaller shops round the corner.

Early Life

Confucius was born around 551 B.C.in China.That was over 2，500 years ago.Some say that Confucius was born into a rich family.Others say he was born poor.One thing is clear：Confucius lived during a time of great trouble.

Philosophy（哲学）and Teachings

Different groups in China were fighting.People forgot about good manners（礼仪）.This made Confucius sad.He wanted people to be kind and polite to each other.He believed in the idea of"ren".That means "loving others"."People should follow the Golden Rule，"he said.The Golden Rule is"to treat others as you would like to be treated".He believed that a good leader should treat his followers with care.This would help the leader set a good example.Confucius thought leaders could make people follow the law（法律）

Confucius promoted（提倡）music education.He thought music had a strong influence on people and believed that music could make the things on the earth get on well with each other.

So music made it possible for our society to develop well.

Death

Confucius died at the age of 71 or 72.After his death，he was honored as a man of wisdom.His ideas helped shape the Chinese government.Today he is known as one of the most important teachers in Chinese history.

 It was Jimmy's birthday and he was five years old. He got a lot of nice birthday gifts from his family, and one of them was a beautiful drum.

" Who gave him that thing?" Jimmy's father said when he saw it." His grandfather did," answered Jimmy's mother.

" Oh," said his father. Of course Jimmy liked his drum very much. He made a terrible noise with it, but his father didn't mind. He was working during the day and Jimmy was already in bed when he got home in the evening, so he couldn't hear the noise.

 But one of the neighbors didn't like the noise at all, so a few days later, she took a knife and went to Jimmy's house while he was hitting his drum. She said to him," Hello, Jimmy, do you know, there is something very nice inside your drum? Here is a knife. Open(打开) the drum and let's find it."

"Aly, I know you took the money." 

"I didn't take the money, Grandma. 1 you love me, you should believe me."

Her anger came from a deep place. 2 her would only cause her anger to rise. So I tried a different way.
