It was nearly dark. The sun was dropping down the mountains. Little Tom came back home {#blank#}1{#/blank#} his head down, looking really sad.

"What's the matter, Tom? How was your trip?" his mother asked with {#blank#}2{#/blank#} big smile. "I failed, Mom. Although the mountain was so high and filled with {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(stone) on the way, I still went ahead. But I felt too tired {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(climb) to the top of the mountain and it was so late that I had to come back, " Tom {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(cry) loudly. "It doesn't matter, you are only 14 years old after all. You {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(have) another chance if you keep on trying," his mother said. "But I am looking forward to{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(stand) at the top of the mountain for a long time!" Tom said.

His father came over and asked, "Did you see the green trees on {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(you) way to the mountain?"

"Sure," Tom replied. "Did you feel the beauty of nature, my dear?" his father asked.

"Of course." Tom answered. "Did you notice other people on the way?" his father asked. "Yes! A little girl followed her mother {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(happy)!" Tom answered. "That's enough!" his father smiled and said, "Please remember, my boy.{#blank#}10{#/blank#} you didn't reach the top of the mountain, in fact, you have got a lot on the way already." Tom finally smiled with satisfaction.

Dora and Annie were called to the teacher's office for breaking the glass apple on Mrs.Marley's desk.They sat opposite Mr.Barlow and they looked quite nervous.

"Would either of you like to explain what happened？"Mr.Barlow asked.

Dora took a deep breath，"I was looking at Mrs.Marley's glass apple.The sun was shining on it，and it made a rainbow on the desk.I thought the rainbow would get bigger if we moved the apple."

"So you moved it？"Mr.Barlow asked.

Dora pointed at Annie. "She did it，but the rainbow got smaller.I tried to get the apple back，but it fell on the floor and broke."

"Dora said she wanted to make the rainbow bigger，so I told her how my sister used a sun catcher to make a rainbow on the ceiling.I tried to show her that，but she said the rainbow was getting smaller and she could do it better.She tried to take it

"It was not!" Dora cried angrily.

Mr.Barlow stood up."Do you want to know what I think？" "Yes!" They said.

"I think Dora wanted to make the rainbow bigger and Annie tried to help." "Exactly!" Annie said.

"Not so fast，"Mr.Barlow said. "Annie，you thought you could make the rainbow better，and the apple fell and broke.Does that sound right？"

"So，we're both to blame，"Dora said.

"Yes.The real blame isn't in who broke the apple，"Mr.Barlow said. "It was in the fact that you both touched something that didn't belong to you."

"I guess we did，"Annie said.

"We should say sorry to Mrs.Marley，"Dora added.

"I think you both learned a valuable lesson，"Mrs.Marley said，smiling in the doorway.

The most positive(乐观的) person I have ever seen is my dad! He is so positive that I do not1 hearing a single word from him which is related(相关的) to hopelessness!

Unlike most moms and dads, my dad never says things that make me feel2 He is always there to give me encouragement and help. 3 I do wrong things, he always tells me what's right in a positive way. For example, if I am in4 he often tells me to open the books he bought me. Then he asks me to read the 5 that can help me with the problems I'm facing. After that, we have a6 together.

I had a trip to Aruba on my vacation. We 1 the Holiday Hotel in Aruba at about 1:30 a. m. We were pretty glad 2 it was our first trip to Aruba. The flight （飞行） was fine and the bus ride from the 3 was great. We stayed at the Holiday Hotel. We saw the rooms one 4 one because we wanted to have a room to 5 the sea（海洋）.

Me, the lead? Mrs. Smith continued," I was thinking of you for the role when I wrote the play!" Suddenly, I thought it was time to throw away my shyness and show the world who I really was. I looked at Mrs. Smith and said," OK, I'll try."

After five months of practicing, the big day finally arrived. I felt so nervous. My knees shook and my heart beat like I'd just run a mile." It doesn't matter how you do tonight," said Mrs. Smith, as if reading my thoughts." You've already shown yourself how wonderful you are. That's the most important thing for you."

Mrs. Smith was right. When I stepped on the stage(舞台), I showed that I could take chances(机会) and be brave enough to make a big change for myself — a girl with new- found confidence(信心). I thanked Mrs. Smith a lot. She helped me to change by encouraging me to act the lead role of the play. It was a great experience and I'll never forget it.
