Susan had long blonde hair and big blue eyes.So did most of the other1in her school class，which troubled her a lot.“I look like everyone else！I'm not special！I'm bored！”Susan2to her mother.

    She decided to try to make herself look3She painted big pink spots on her neck and when she didn't get attention，she stuck a long plastic nose on top of her real nose.Nobody noticed that，4.She took ink(墨水)and poured it all over her5.She wore clown(小丑)clothes to school and stuck leaves in her ears.6no matter what she did，she still didn't get any7and nobody thought she was special.

    One morning her8went to wake her up and told her to get ready for school.She made Susan9the ink out of her hair and clean her neck.“I'm not going to school10！I'm bored！”She buried(埋葬)her head11the quilt and cried.

    “Susan，”her mother said，“you are different.You are unique(独一无二)and special.12in the world looks just like you.Some people have blonde hair like you and some have blue eyes like you，but none of them has your smile or the twinkle in your eyes or your pink face.Nobody laughs like you，either.Now13and get ready for school.”

    Susan went to school that day and looked at all the other kids in her class.“Mom was14.Nobody looks just like me.”Susan said.“I am special.I am unique and I am not15！”

    On the first day of school, the new teacher had a look at the name list of students. How pleased she was!

    Guess what she 1? After each student's name, there was a number 2 138, 140, 154 and so on. "3 these high IQ (智商) students." She thought to herself. "They've given me a wonderful 4!"

    As a result, the 5 teacher worked harder with this class than with her other classes. She 6 some new teaching ways. She thought these 7 would cheer the students and hold their 8. She was right. It 9 out well! The class did much better than any of her others.

    Later, however, she found out the 10 the number after each name did not mean the IQ, but the number of his or her clothing box in the school.

In my classroom last Thursday, I sat next to a girl who was coughing. I covered my mouth to protect myself from the cold. However, the moment (时刻) I got home, I knew those germs (细菌) had got to me. I had a headache. My mum took my temperature. Sure enough, I had a fever. I was asked to drink as much water as I could. My dad asked me to stay at home until I got better. I was feeling down because I had a science test the next day, and I didn't want to miss it.

The next day, my dad took me to the doctor's. The doctor said I had the flu. He advised me to get a lot of rest and take some medicine. While at home last Friday, I slept most of the day. When I woke up, I tried to study for my science test. However, I couldn't stay awake long enough to study. At that moment, resting was more important than studying.

After being home from school for four days, I finally felt better and returned to school. My teacher, Mrs. Jenkins, gave me the science test I had missed earlier. She sent me into another classroom to finish it. The science test was much too difficult for me, but at least I was feeling healthy enough to take it. Great!

My crafty(鬼点子多的) child was driving me crazy the other day. That afternoon, I was busy getting the house ready for guests to arrive. When I walked across the entrance( 入 口 ). I found a piece of folded paper1 on the recently-swept floor. 

"Paul must try to carry waste paper from the living room to the rubbish can and 2 a few pieces, " I sighed(叹气), picking them up. 

Moments later, I passed through the entrance again and found 3 paper. No quiet sighing this time, I4 , "Who is throwing rubbish around the entrance?"

No answer. 5 , I saw more bits of paper silently flying down from upstairs. Looking up, I saw my seven-year-old son6 over the stairs. 

"Paul!" I cried tiredly. "Stop making a/an 7 . " Paul looked at the paper bits falling quietly to the floor. "It's not. They're butterflies. " He ran down the stairs to 8 his papers. "Where are my other butterflies?" he asked, looking around. 

Every time Paul puts five or more words together, I can't help saying 9 from the bottom of my heart. For the first three years of his life, there were no words; the next three years, he still could10 put two words together. But lately he seems to realize that the advantage( 好 处 ) of forming11 sentences is worth his effort when communicating. 

Butterflies. Of course. I rushed into the kitchen to 12 them from the rubbish and hand  them to Paul. 

"Want to see them fly again?" he asked. "Oh, yes! They are beautiful, Paul. " I agreed. 

He ran back upstairs to fly his paper down again. I watched them fly softly down 13 me. 

They really did look like beautiful butterflies. 

That day Paul made me look up at14 instead of looking down at rubbish. Life is not what happens to us but it is 15 we look at it. 

One day, Mr Smith takes an apple to the class. He stands in the front of the 1 and says,"Please smell the smell (闻气味) in the air!"

One student puts up his hand and answers, "I can smell it. It is the smell of a(n) 2 ."

Mr Smith asks, "Are you 3 about it?"

"Yes, I am sure about it," the student says.

Mr Smith walks to the students, passes by each of 4 and says, "Please smell again to see if (是否) the smell of the apple is still (仍然) in the air."

Half of the students put up their hands to show that they can smell it. Mr Smith returns (返回) to the front of the classroom 5 asks again if the students can smell the apple. Everyone says 6 except one student called Henry. Mr Smith goes him, asking, "You really can't smell the apple?"

Henry answers, "No, I can't smell it. I don't think it is a real apple."

Mr Smith smiles and says to the class, "He is 7 ! This is not a real apple. 8 doesn't have any smell."

Some of the students may have thought that the apple is not real, but they don't 9 any confidence (自信) to speak up. They just follow (跟随) others and go along with the 10 student.
