My mother is a teacher. On weekdays, she gives lessons at school and on Saturdays she works in clubs. On Sundays, she is still busy.

On Sunday morning, mum gets up at six. She cooks breakfast for us first. And then it's time for cleaning. After that, she has breakfast with father and me. At 9, she goes to buy food for lunch in the supermarket. She can have a short rest after lunch. In the afternoon, mum doesn't go out. She helps me with my lessons. She does some reading, too.

    Mother watches TV at about 7 when she finishes (完成) the housework. But at that time she is always tired and falls asleep (睡着) in the sofa sometimes.

    In this August, I had a trip called "Cultural Trip: Germany, Italy & France" to go to Europe with a group of American students.

    This was not my first time to other countries, but it was unusual one. Why do I think the trip Unusual? Travel agencies (旅行社)usually have travel buses for tourists, What about us ? For five days, we traveled along Germany by bike. We were tired but happy! For some times on the trip, something went wrong with someone's bicycle. But at the end of the trip, everyone was safe and happy.

    In Italy, we went to a kitchen to learn to cook Italian dishes, we made a great dinner and ended by making the chocolate cake. I gave full marks to that night!

    France was the last stop, we went to the capital of France, Paris. We went to the Eiffel tower and we even got onto it. The tower is 324 meters tall, It has three levels(层) for visitors. There are restaurants on the first and second levels. The top level is 276 meters above the ground. If you climb from ground level to the first level, you need to climb over 300 steps. There are another 300 steps from the first level to the second level. That's why people usually get onto the top level by lift.

    One rainy evening I went to fill up at the gas station. A poor boy came up to my car and asked me for money to help him and his mother{#blank#}1{#/blank#}in their hotel for another week. They had to leave{#blank#}2{#/blank#}they did not come up with $25. Having worked in social services before, and being a little skeptical (怀疑的) , I asked why his mother hadn't asked social{#blank#}3{#/blank#}for help. The boy said that they needed to{#blank#}4{#/blank#}in their hotel for one more week until his grandmother, who lived out of town, could take them in. I gave the boy what I had—$5. He thanked me and continued to ask{#blank#}5{#/blank#}for help. I got my gas and drove{#blank#}6{#/blank#}. Weeks before, a boy asked me for money and I told him I didn't have any though I did because I didn't believe him.{#blank#}7{#/blank#}, I knew the boy was really poor. "This time," I thought, "I'll do it{#blank#}8{#/blank#}." I went to my bank and got $20, then I returned to the gas station. The boy was {#blank#}9{#/blank#}there. I handed him the $20 bill. He reached through my car window and gave me a{#blank#}10{#/blank#}hug. His hug told me all I needed to know was that finally this kid could get out of the rain.

In March of 2019, a piece of news drew people's attention. The 1 boy called Tani won the New York State chess championship. He completed the whole competition 2 losing a match. It isn't easy for 3 to achieve this honor. Tani lives in New York now, but he used4 a hard life in Nigeria. He is interested in studying chess, and his skill is increasing 5 . He practices every evening on his father's laptop and 6 three-hour practices every Saturday. He dreams of becoming 7 chess master. 

A New York Times columnist wrote an article about Tani, and many readers wanted to help his family. Several people offered them housing, and lawyers offered to help with their immigration hearings for free. A week later, over $200, 000 8 to help them. Within a week, Tani was running through his family's apartment excitedly, "I have a home!"

But Tani's family doesn't plan to keep their good fortune to 9 . They are giving ten percent of the money to their church, which had helped them when they were struggling. The rest of the money will go to other African immigrants(移民) who need help. Tani's father said, "God has blessed me. I want to release my blessing to 10 . "

This morning I went out to have breakfast in a small restaurant with a friend. It was sunny and the wind was gentle. Everything was lovely. But what wasn't lovely was the lady who took our order. She spoke to my friend in a way that was unhappy, certainly not friendly, and sort of rude. Working in hotel myself, I noticed it.

When it came to my turn to get close and order my food, I thought to myself, "What can I do here to make her day nice, to touch her to make her smile?". I was watching her and considering what to do.

Surely there must be something I could do. Then there it was and I knew，it was her voice. She had the most unbelievably well-spoken and clear voice. It was so good. It's so clear, well-spoken and sounds so professional. That was it.

So after she took my order and gave the same unfriendly attitude. I told her , "I hope you don't mind me saying, but____. " I told her how she honestly had one of those voices that would be perfect for announcements or even radio.

Her whole face lit up. She smiled (the first time I had seen her do so) and as I left and walked away, I noticed her whole attitude change. The customer behind me received a totally different kind of service. A happier one. All because of the simple thing I did. Surprisingly, she sent me a note to show her thanks when we pay the bill, which also makes my lovely day.

There was a time when this sort of thing would have embarrassed（使尴尬） me. Or I'd have been too shy to say such a thing. Not now. Now I must! Why? Because there is great power in words and I have the power. The power to completely change someone's day by something as simple as a few kind words and being kind. And you have this power too. We all do.
