Many teenagers feel that the most important people in their lives are their friends. They believe that their family members，and in particular（尤其是） their parents，don't know them as well as their friends do. In large families，it is quite often for brothers and sisters to fight with each other and then they can only go to their friends for help. 

It is very important for teenagers to have one good friend or a circle of friends. Even when they are not with their friends，they usually spend a lot of time talking on the phone. This communication is very important in children's growing up，because friends can discuss something difficult to say to their family members. 

However，parents often try to choose friends for their children. Some parents may even stop their children from meeting their good friends. The question of "choice" is an interesting one. Have you ever thought of the following questions? Who chooses your friends? Do you choose your friends or your friends choose you? Have you got a good friend your parents don't like?

◆What do you eat for breakfast?

I have milk and eggs. They are my favorite food for breakfast. I think they are healthy. I don't like bread.

◆Do you eat lunch at school?

Yes. I eat chicken and rice at school. Sometimes I eat salad for lunch. I don't like eating hamburgers. They are not good for my health.

◆What fruit do you like?

I like bananas, apples and strawberries very much. I eat fruit every day. Fruit is important to our health.

◆Do you play sports every day?

Sure, I do. I play basketball with my friends every day. I think it's interesting and relaxing. Sometimes I play volleyball, but it's difficult for me.

I'm living in a small village in the countryside. My wife and I run(经营) a cake shop. We live a very peaceful life. Someone might say our simple life is boring. But we love it. We know all the people in the village. I have much time for my hobbies-- gardening, fishing and walking in the countryside. I love the outdoor activities.

 Three years ago, in 2020, I had a really terrible job in a company. I used to work very late in the office from Monday to Thursday. Usually I went home the latest on Thursdays. Luckily I could go home early on Fridays, but I had to bring work home on weekends. Because of the job, I used to smoke and drink too much.

 One day, my wife, a P. E. teacher, decided to leave me. She complained(抱怨) that she seldom saw me. She also said that I had become not humorous but serious since having the job. This made me realize what was really important to me. We talked and decided to start a new and happy life together. Last year,I gave up the job. Of course, I also gave up smoking and drinking and took up new hobbies.

Steve, a twelve-year-old boy, lives in a small town. He has a round face. He isn't tall or short. He is kind of thin. 

When Steve was one month old, his mom found he couldn't see anything. She took him to many hospitals, but it didn't help Steve much. After that, Steve's mom always told him what things around him were like. With his mom's help, Steve knew everything around him slowly.

It's not far from his home to school. It only takes him about ten minutes to walk to school. He likes all the subjects and studies hard. His teachers and classmates always help him. He doesn't go home for lunch. His mother always cooks his favorite food and takes it to school.

Steve likes playing the piano and he started to learn it two years ago. Now he is in a music club and he can play many songs. Every day, Steve plays the piano for his mom after school. He wants to be a great musician and play the piano for more people. "I know it is difficult for me to be a musician, but I will work hard for it. It will come true some day," said Steve.

How much do you know about whales(鲸), a kind of fantastic sea animals? Now we are 1  an ocean park and learning much about them. 

We know whales 2  in the sea. Are they fish? A worker in the ocean park gives us the 3 , " Whales live in the sea and look like fish, but they aren't fish. "

We all get a 4  when we see such big whales. However, how big are they really? Another worker 5  us, " Blue whales are the biggest of all kinds of whales. They are 6  one of the biggest animals on earth. Most of them are more than 30 metres long and each of them is 7  enough to be about 130 tons(吨). "

We also learn about some interesting facts about whales. Whales 8  on sea life. Some eat seals and fish and some eat sea plants. Some whales like the blue whales don't have 9  and just swallow(吞下) food, but some can eat food with their teeth. And whales can't take in air under the sea 10 , so they need to jump out of water often. 

Are whales in danger? For some whales, landing(上岸) on beaches accidentally(意外地) is 11 . Beaches are not safe 12  for them. They need to stay in the 13 . Maybe they will lose their lives if they don't get back to the sea in time. Some kinds of whales are in danger14  people catch them for meat, fat and oil. To protect whales, people 15  stop killing them and polluting(污染) the ocean. 

Our visiting has taught us a lot about our fantastic friends—whales.
