    Fraser is four years old. He has autism(自闭症). He lives in his own world. Everything is very difficult to him. He doesn't want to play with other children. He doesn't want to say any words to others. His parents are worried about him.

    Then Billy, a cat, comes. It helps Fraser go out of his world.

When Billy sees Fraser, it runs to him quickly. It sits beside Fraser with its paws on Fraser's legs. They seem to be old friends. Fraser says, "This is our cat. He can come to live with us." "I know our life changes," says Fraser's mother.

    Billy stays with Fraser all the time. They play together, listen to the story together and sleep together. When Fraser walks in the garden, Billy is never far away. When Fraser is unhappy, it always lies beside him.

    It seems crazy. But Billy is like Fraser's angel. Fraser changes a lot. The doctor says he is getting better. He doesn't have to see the doctor now.

    As a student, I was most afraid to answer questions in class, and I found that the students around were just like me. At the beginning of each class, when the teacher asked a question, I always lowered my head because I was afraid the teacher saw me.

One day, in a foreign language class, Mr. Black gave us a lesson. He wanted us to be active in class, so he asked us some questions, but no one answered. "Let me tell you a story first," he said.

"When I came to the United States to study, the university often invited famous people to make speeches. Before the beginning of every speech, I found an interesting thing. The students around me always took a cardboard folded(折叠的) in half, wrote their names in bold(黑体) with the most eye-catching(引人注目的) color, and then placed the cardboard on the seat. So when the speaker needed the answers from the students, he could see it and call a listener's name directly."

"I couldn't understand that. My classmate told me the speakers were all top people, who meant chances. When your answer was to his surprise, it meant he might give you more chances. In fact, I really saw a few students got great chances because of that."

    After listening to the story, I understood that the chance will not find you itself. You must show yourself all the time so that you can find a chance on the card.

    We are often educated to have the courage, but we also need to understand "fear" correctly. "Fear" also has the meaning of "awe (敬畏)". If a person has no respect (尊敬) or awe, it will surely bring trouble to the family, to the society and the country. So, how should we do?

    Fear life. Life is the only one. The fear of life will make us value life more. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} If we don't respect nature, nature will punish us in turn. All kinds of natural disasters (灾害) will come one after another, making us helpless in front of nature. We should learn scientific knowledge and skills to avoid some dangers.

    Fear your parents. Know how to respect parents and thanks for their efforts. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Fear the law. No rules, no standards. Follow the order, rules of the society, schools and public places. Know the law and understand the law. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Whoever breaks the law can't run away from punishment.

    Fear knowledge. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} We will keep on progressing, have the awe of teachers, and accept their teaching and education with pleasure.

Finally, however, we had ten boxes full of different things. Then it was time{#blank#}11{#/blank#}the yard sale.{#blank#}12{#/blank#} (即使；尽管)we had ads in the newspaper and online, I was still not sure whether whether anyone would come. {#blank#}13{#/blank#}(令我们惊奇的是), so many people came to our yard sale. I p{#blank#}14{#/blank#}to get 400 to 500 that day. At last, we got $743.23! We sent the money to the poor children in Haiti. Thanks for all the people who{#blank#}15{#/blank#}helped us.

Embroidery(刺绣) is an important traditional art form in Chinese culture. The most famous embroidery styles are Su embroidery from Suzhou, Shu embroidery from Sichuan, Xiang embroidery from Hunan and Yue embroidery from Guangdong. Shu embroidery has the longest history of all. 

Since modern machines can make cheaper embroidery products today, fewer people buy hand-made Shu embroidery products. There are also very few young embroiderers. The skill is endangered. 

Meng Dezhi, a national-level inheritor(传承人) of the art form, has been making Shu embroidery for forty years. She used to work at the Chengdu Shu Embroidery Factory. But in 2006, the factory went broke and Meng lost her job. Wanting to save the art, Meng wanted to have her own place and teach Shu embroidery to others. 

It's hard work. Embroidery takes time and patience. Workers need to divide each silk thread(线) into more than ten or even thirty pieces. Each piece is thinner than a single human hair. In 2016, Baidu invited Meng to make a homepage logo for Qixi Festival. It was a small logo, but it required the use of 45 types of sewing techniques(针法) and 35,000 stitches(针). 

Meng is teaching in different universities and communities to save Shu embroidery. She believes that Shu embroidery stands for thousands of years of Sichuan culture and should be saved. "I feel that I have the responsibility to pass on Shu embroidery skills to young people, to let it run from generation to generation." She said.

Twelve teachers and students from the University of Verona in Italy recently went to Liangnong town, Yuyao city, Zhejiang province, to do research and learn about traditional Chinese culture.

The group went to Liangnong's Intangible Cultural Heritage(非物质文化遗产) Exhibition Hall, where they learned about Yuyao's unique cultural heritage and the local ways of life and traditions.

With the help of a skilled baker, they also learned how to make Liangnong Rice Cake, a traditional local food. People in the area eat this cake during special events like the Lunar New Year, weddings, housewarming parties, and birthdays. It'a symbol of the hope for a good life.

" First, we pour the mixed rice flour into the rice cake mold(模具). Then use tools to make square holes. Next, put sweet fillings into the holes," The skilled baker carefully showed the steps of making Liangnong Rice Cake while telling the Italian teachers and students about its history and culture. The finishing touch, which the students found most interesting, was to print Chinese characters on the cake with a special tool.

"Today's experience was fantastic. We learned how to make Liangnong Rice Cake, and I really enjoyed it. This is my first time in China, and I hope to come to China more in the future," said Giordano Giada, an Italian student.

Barbara Bisetto, the head of the Chinese Department at the University of Verona and an expert on Chinese culture, said in fluent Chinese, " China has a long history and a rich and beautiful culture. This time, I also learned about Chinese manners, customs, and traditions. So for me, as someone who studies Chinese culture, it is a very special experience."

This summer camp is a project between Ningbo University and the University of Verona. By inviting Italian students to visit Liangnong, the university wants to present local culture to a bigger world and support rural revitalization(乡村振兴) with cultural strength.
