Christmas was coming and ten-year-old Tracy told her father and me that she wanted a new bike. Her bike was too 1, and it needed repairing as well. As Christmas 2,  her dream for a bike seemed to disappear(消失), we thought, for she didn't say it again. We were busy3 some beautiful story books, a doll house, a holiday dress and toys. Then to our surprise, on December 24, she said she really wanted a bike more than 4.

    Now we didn't know 5 to do. It was just too late. We were busy with Christmas dinner and packing 6 presents, parents'presents, a brother's present and friends' presents till midnight. So there was 7 time to take to buy the "right bike" for our little girl. Thinking we were parents who would make their child unhappy, we felt sorry and 8 .

    Suddenly my husband had an idea. "What about making a little bike with clay (黏土) and writing a note that she could trade in (交换) the model bike for a real one?" So he spent the next five hours carefully 9 with clay to make a small bike.

10 Christmas morning, we were so excited for Tracy to open the little box with the beautiful red and white clay bike and the note. She opened and read the 11 loudly. She looked at me and said, "So, does this mean I can trade in this bike for a real 12?" Smiling, I said, "Yes!" Tracy had tears in her e yes when she replied, ‘I would 13 trade in this beautiful bike Daddy made me. I 14 keep it than get a real bike. This is the best Christmas present 15 I have ever got in my life!"

Three students talk about the most interesting museums they have ever been to.

Ken: The most interesting museum I've ever been to is the American Computer Museum. They have i{#blank#}1{#/blank#} about different computers and who invented them. The old computers were much b{#blank#}2{#/blank#} than modern computers. It's unbelievable that technology has p{#blank#}3{#/blank#} in such a rapid way! I've also learned that there was a special computer. It could play chess even better than h{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. I wonder how much more computers will be able to do in the future.

Amy: I've recently been to a very u{#blank#}5{#/blank#} museum in India, the International Museum of Toilets. I just couldn't b{#blank#}6{#/blank#} my eyes when I saw so many different kinds of toilets there. The museum teaches people about the h{#blank#}7{#/blank#} and development of toilets. It also encourages governments and s{#blank#}8{#/blank#} groups to think about ways to improve toilets in the future.

Linlin: Last year I went to the Hangzhou National Tea Museum. It's a relaxing and peaceful place near a lake. The tea art performances show how to make a p{#blank#}9{#/blank#} cup of tea with beautiful tea sets. Watching the tea preparation is just as enjoyable as drinking the tea itself. I've finally realized why my grandpa loves drinking tea and c{#blank#}10{#/blank#} tea sets.

There's an elephant living in a forest. He's very beautiful and clever. He usually helps people who get lost in the forest, so people in the countryside all like him very much.

One day, a young man came to the countryside. He knew the elephant from the farmers and he wanted to catch him. Then he went to the forest and looked for the elephant. After two days, he saw the elephant and ran after him. But the elephant ran so fast. The young man couldn't catch him. The elephant ran from morning to night. He was very tired, so he hid (躲藏) behind the trees. The young man couldn't see him.

After some time, the young man got lost in the forest and fell into a pool. No one could help him out. The elephant saw that and saved him. The young man thanked the elephant and said, "I'm sorry for what I do at first. Please tell me what you want me to do for you." The elephant said, "I only want to stop catching animals and save them."

Have you ever seen a bird fly into a building? Now, some students in Shenzhen are working to help the birds and learn more about this problem. 

In March, they made a team to study bird collisions(碰撞). "Every morning, we walk around buildings with big glass before 9:00 am. That is the high time for bird activities, " Feng Yongyin said. If they see a bird hit a building, they will take photos of the bird and the place around it. Then, they put the photos onto an app called Biotracks. Scientists can use them to do more research. 

The students'careful bird-watching also made the school think about moving the basketball court(场地). That's because it is a place with many plants and birds around. "Once we found a bird's nest(巢) on the ground and put it back. Then we set up a camera, " says 14-year-old Lan Zijia. Using the camera, they saw that many students might accidentally(意外地) throw their balls at the plants and go into the green ground to get their balls. It might hit the plants and birds'nests. "We told our school about this, and our school placed a line to protect the plants and birds, " Lan said. 

Since March, the team has done 416 bird-watching studies, found five bird collisions and saved one bird. 

A little boy invited his mother to attend his school's first parent-teacher meeting. This would be the 1 time that his classmates and teacher met his mother. She had a large scar(伤疤) that 2 nearly the entire(全部的) right side of her face. The boy 3 ashamed (羞愧的) and never asked why or how she got the scar. At the meeting, everyone 4 the act of his mother's kindness, but the little boy was still embarrassed and 5 himself from everyone. He did, however, overhear(无意中听到) a conversation 6 his mother and his teacher.

The teacher asked carefully, "Is it OK to ask 7 you got the scar?" 

The mother replied, "When my son was a baby, he was in a room that 8 fire. Everyone was too 9 to go in because the fire was out of control, but I went in. As I was running toward his bed, I saw a long piece of wood 10 from the ceiling (天花板), so I stood over him to 11 him. I was knocked senseless, but fortunately(幸运地), a fireman came and 12 both of us." She touched the scarred side of her face. "This scar will last, but to this day, I have 13 regretted what I did." 

The little boy had never 14 the story of his mother's scar. He ran toward his mother 15 and held her hand tightly for the rest of the day.
