Mark and Bert are good friends for most of their lives. A few years ago, when Mark was nine, he developed a serious disease (疾病).The disease took away the boy's eyesight, part of his hearing and his ability to play his favourite sport. However, throughout the years, Bert was still his closest friend. They shared their love of Australian football and enjoyed talking about the Sydney Swans, their favourite team.

Two weeks ago, I took my seat at Sydney Cricket Ground to watch the Swans. The old stadium was full of fans. Shortly into the second quarter(一节), I heard someone describing the match. It was Bert who was bringing the match to life. I turned and saw him. Mark was sitting next to him.

Although he could not see any more, Mark still loved the Swans very much. Usually, he went to the stadium and listened to the match on the radio. However, in the second quarter of that match, the radio broke down. That was when his friend Bert came in.

I hardly paid attention to the Swans and Buddy, the team's star player. Instead, I was listening to Bert and Mark. "What's happening now?" Mark asked. "Don't worry, Mark," Bert said. "Okay. Buddy's got it. Will he go for it? He's going for it! It's his tenth goal! Buddy is on fire!"Mark listened carefully. He was lost in the magic of Australian football and his friend brought the match to life. And I was really moved by this heart-warming moment.

Zhao Li, 51, is known as "the Chinese Fabre". He is famous for writing the "Chinese version (版本) of Fabre's Book of Insects (《昆虫记》)" and setting up Asia's largest insect museum – the Insect Museum of West China in Sichuan.

Much like the French naturalist (博物学家) Jean Henri Fabre, Zhao's story with insects dates back to his childhood. In his early years, Zhao started making butterfly specimens (标本) with the help of his parents. In high school, the butterfly specimens he collected were enough to support his first specimen exhibition.

Zhao's love for butterflies is nearly crazy. During his college years, he went into the forests of western Sichuan every summer. In 1991, the then 19-year-old cycled over 500 kilometers, living in farmhouses, eating dry food, and sometimes even sleeping in temples or on big rocks along the way. Finally, he discovered a new butterfly species – Lethe bipupilla (舜目黛眼蝶). It's reported that this was the first time a new butterfly species (种类) in Sichuan had been discovered by a Chinese person.

The discovery trips can sometimes be dangerous. In 1992, Zhao came across a mudslide (山崩) in Mount Gongga, Sichuan province. Luckily, a tree got in the way of a big rock coming toward him and saved him. However, the dangers didn't stop him from looking for butterflies. To find the nationally protected Teinopalpus aureus (金斑喙凤蝶), Zhao camped for seven days on the highest peak (山峰) in southern Hainan. He became the first person in China to successfully take a detailed photo of this butterfly species,which help people see clearly how beautiful the butterflies are!

Zhao is often called "Prince Butterfly". But he said, "I am not a prince, just someone who loves insects."

It was the last day of the school year. The classroom was filled with excitement. When our teacher, Mr. Johnson, walked in, holding a CD player, everyone's face lit up with a smile. We knew that this wasn't going to be another normal day, but a special one.

" Please calm down and sit, " said Mr. Johnson,"I'm glad everyone's here for the final reading test of the year." When everyone cried, Mr. Johnson laughed, saying it was just a joke. Then he reminded us that we still had a job to do." You need to clean out your desks and put all your things into your backpacks." he added gently.

As we began our task, Mr. Johnson turned on the CD player. The lively music made the room feel like a party. Some of us started singing along with the music, others were dancing around their desks while they were cleaning them out. Even Mr. Johnson showed us a few dance steps, making everyone laugh heartily. After we finished cleaning, someone asked," When is break time?" Mr. Johnson took out some balls and started playing with them. Suddenly, he let the balls drop and said," Break time starts… now!"

Just as we were about to rush out, our headmaster, Mrs. Miller, appeared at the door." Mr. Johnson!" she cried out. A moment of si lence fell over the room as we thought," Mr. Johnson might be in trouble." However, to our surprise, Mrs. Miller couldn't help but laugh at the sight and left us to enjoy our break.

During break time, Mr. Johnson surprised us with another treat. He went to the cafe and came back with ice creams for everyone. We all cheered for him!

As we walked back to the classroom, we passed Mrs. Miller's office. Someone joked," Don't play with the ice creams, Mr. Johnson!" We all laughed together...

Yesterday, Peter had a wonderful trip with his parents on the Ferris wheel (摩天轮) in Bao'an Coastal Cultural Park. He was so amazed at the new city landmark that he wanted to know more about the Ferris wheel. So he looked it up in an encyclopedia online.

In 1892, so mc leaders from Chicago planned a fair. They wanted it to be the greatest fair ever. It would show the newest ideas in science, business and art. They also wanted to build something amazing at the fair. The Eiffel Tower had been built three years before in France. The Chicago leaders wanted something even more impressive. So they asked people to send in designs.

G. W. Ferris was a young engineer. He heard about the fair. He wanted to attract visitors to the fair, so he decided to design a big wheel made of steel (钢). The wheel was 250 feet across. Large cars hung from the end of each spoke (车轮辐). Each car carried 60 people in a big circle through the air.

On May 1, 1893, the fair opened. People from around the world came to see the latest inventions. They felt the heat of new electric stoves. They stood in the cool wind of small fans. They even saw a machine that washed the dishes.

Ferris's wheel was the main attraction at the Chicago Fair. People stood in line to ride on it. They wanted to see the fairgrounds from the wheel's highest point. As the wheel turned upward, some people were afraid. Others were thrilled at what they saw below. Fountains shone in the sunlight. Flags waved in the wind. A train snaked through the grounds. At night, coloured lights li t up the sky.

Today we call these smaller wheels "Ferris wheels".

The19-year-oldgirl Peng Xiyue, like most girls of her age, enjoys sports like running and swimming. No one knows she has intellectual disability(智力残疾) if people just meet her for the first time.

 Peng was shy and easy to get angry before. She has changed a lot after going to a special education school. She has got training(训练) in the school for 6 years and won first place at the Special Olympic Games(特殊奥林匹克运动会) many times. She also learns about Chinese tea culture(文化) and other helpful skills there. She tells her father that she wants to work as a waitress in a restaurant to make a living(谋生) by herself after she finishes her studies in

2024. Her father is glad to hear that. He believes Peng will have no problem living a good life in the future.

 There are many children like Peng in the school. The school gives them training to help them keep healthy and get some important social skills for their future. Every weekend, volunteers go to the school to help the children exercise. Dong Ruixue, one of the volunteers, thinks people with disabilities are just a little different from others. "They need to beloved, "Dong says. And some college students choose to return to the school to work as teachers when they finish their studies. Wang Furong is one of them. She says working there is different from volunteer work(志愿活动) and she needs to have more skills.

 Now China has more than 85million people with disabilities. "We give different kinds of lessons to help them get jobs in the future. And I'm glad that some companies are willing to offer jobs to them,"says Bian Rong; the school's headteacher.
