Cindy is my friend. She likes sports very much. She runs (跑步) every morning. Cindy is healthy and she eats well.

For breakfast, she likes eggs, bananas and milk. For lunch, she has chicken, tomatoes and vegetables. She likes fish, salad and carrots for dinner. She eats oranges, pears and apples, too. 水果和蔬菜是健康食品。She doesn't like ice-cream. And she doesn't eat hamburgers or French fries (薯条). They are not healthy food.

    The Internet is generally(通常) considered to be the world that belongs to young people. But some old people in Shanghai don't think so. Recently, more than 8,000 people over 50 took part in a web page designing contest in Shanghai.

    The contest lasted for two months and attracted a lot of old people. Among them, the oldest is a 79-year-old retired (退休的) lady. She had learned web page designing for 4 months before attending the contest. She finally got an honorary ( 荣誉的) title of “The Most Senior Participant(参与者)”. About 30 other old people got different prizes such as “The Best Creative Work” and “The Best Fine Arts Work”. Their works' themes included science, technology, Olympics, personal life and so on.

    The organizers of the contest hoped to encourage more and more elderly people to learn more about the Internet world. And many of the participants felt they really got a lot from the contest. “Designing web page enriches my life and makes me feel much closer to the young people,” one participant said.

    The designing of web page is not an easy job. But that doesn't mean it is the patent(专利) of young people. In fact, as the saying goes: “It's never too old to learn.” As for the teenagers, perhaps they should know“It's never late to learn”, whether it is English, piano or others.

    Why here are thousands of people including lots of the old and the young, climbing the Fenghuang Mountain. Because there is a famous festival in Dazhou, which called Yuanjiu Mountain Climbing festival.(元九登高节) This festival is related with a poet as well as an official in Tang Dynasty. His name was Yuan Zhen and people called him Yuan Jiu later. In A. D. 815, Yuan Zhen did something wrong with his job, so he was sent to Tongzhou, which was a poor and remote place in ancient China. He didn't give   ❶  and made lots of projects to promote (促进) the economic development.   ❷   the leadership of him, Tongzhou changed a lot.①因此人们喜爱他. Because he did such an excellent job, he was transferred to Henan in A.D.818.The day when he left was the ninth day of the first lunar month. All the town people climbed onto the top of Cuiping Mountain in the South and the Fenghuang Mountain in the North to say goodbye to him. ② From then on, the custom and tradition of climbing hills on the day of "Yuanjiu" has been kept in Dazhou. To remember Yuan Zhen, all people in Dazhou go out in groups and climb hills on that day. People are looking forward to getting rid of the bad luck in the past year, hoping in the next year everything is going well. To show great respect for the public customs and opinions, every year our government plans a series of activities to promote the influence of Yuanjiu Mountain Climbing Festival. Nowadays, ③Dawhou, more, feeling, and, people, more, cultural charm (魅力), are, of, even the tourists and foreign friends are attracted to take part in such traditional activities. I take pride in Dazhou.

We are often warned by our teacher not to waste precious (宝贵的)time, because time lost will never return. I think it quite true. What does time look like?  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Time is abstract (抽象的), so we have to think about it.

Time passes very quickly. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.  It is because they don't know how to make use of their time. They waste it in going to theatres, cinemas and parks, and doing other things. Why do we study every day? Why do we work? Why do most people would rather take buses instead of walking? The answer is very simple. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

Today we are living in the 21st century. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. When a person dies, his life ends. Since life is short, we must devote our time and energy to our study so that we may be able to serve the people well in the future. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, for it does not only bring us failure but also does us other harm. If it is necessary for us to do our work today, let us do it today and not leave it until tomorrow.

Remember time is much more valuable (珍贵的)than money.
