牛津译林版初中英语七年级上册Unit 5 Let's celebrate单元测试
Each child loves to celebrate their holiday. ①It is a special day for them because they can get almost(几乎) everything they want on that day. Children usually celebrate their birthdays with a party. The party may not be on the exact(准确的) date of birthday if it comes on a school day. It may be on the closest(最近的) weekend.
Some children have birthday parties at home. Parents make the house beautiful with balloons and coloured paper. And home—made food is a wonderful treat for the children. The children play different games and have lots of fun at the party.
Others may have their parties at their favourite restaurants. They eat pizza and ice cream. The waiters serve(端上) the food and also sing and play games with them.
②Every party has a birthday with candles on top. There is one candle for each year of a birthday boy's or girl's age. When the candles are lighted, everyone sings the special birthday song: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

If you think you are too shy and want to be a little bit braver(勇敢的), just try the following things:
Be open to others. Tell people you are shy. There is no need to hide(掩盖) it. When they get to know you are a shy kid, they will understand you better. This also helps you feel more comfortable i n talks.
Try to smile more. When you smile, people think you are friendly and easy to talk with. Remember that other people have feelings, too; and most people will stay away from an angry-looking face.
Learn to be a good talker. If you find it hard to start a conversation, say something nice about people around you. Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn't it make you want to keep talking to that person?
Get your attention elsewhere. Think more about ways to enjoy parties or games. Don't waste time worrying about your look or whether(是否) people like you or not. You will become relaxed and find it's not so ha rd to talk with others.
Take one small step at a time. Each time when you say “Hi!” or smile at someone, say to yourself "You can make it." Keep trying and one day you'll never feel shy when you talk to others.

I've got some information for everyone who are going to Britain next month. As you know, you'll be staying with a family for two weeks. Now the most important thing is money. You should take about £30 in cash(现金) and about £200 in traveller's cheques(支票). Then when you arrive at the airport, you'll be met by your host family. You must remember to wear a red shirt so that the family can find you easily. I've told them to look out for the red shirts. You'll also need to take with you four photos of yourself and, of course, it's very important that you take the school letter. While you are there, if you have any problems, please call our agent. I'll give you her office phone number. It's 580-4436 and the person to ask for is Mrs. Belcher. She's in the office from 9: 00 to 17: 00 everyday. OK! That's everything. Have a good trip.

We live on the earth. We use the sea around us. What do we take from the ocean? And what do we give to it?
We take fishes from the ocean—millions of kilograms of fish, every year, to feed millions of people. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}We take minerals (矿物) from the ocean. We can get salt by evaporating (蒸发) seawater. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}such as gold. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Seaweed (海草) becomes food of many kinds—even candy and ice cream—as well as medicine. Believe it or not, fresh water is another gift from the sea. We can't drink ocean water. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}But ocean water becomes fresh water when the salts are removed. In the future, we will find ourselves depending more and more on fresh water from the sea.
The sea gives us food, fertilizer, minerals, water and other gifts. What do we give the sea? We pollute the ocean all the time. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}Throwing waste into the ocean is killing off sea life. Yet as the world population grows, we may need the sea and its gifts more than ever.
We are finally learning that if we destroy our sea, we might also destroy ourselves. Hopefully, it is not too late.
A. Other gifts, such as seaweed, can be also got from the sea. B. Huge as it is, the ocean can't hold all that we pour into it. C. Along with salt, other minerals are left after evaporation. D. We even use their bones (骨头) for fertilizer (肥料). E. Some of its contents (所含物) may cause illness. |
