    Rose was telling her granddaughter Lily stories about how she had written a best-selling 1 in her early 30's.

"Did you always know you wanted to be a2, Grandma?" asked Lily. Rose smiled at her granddaughter. " I 3 knew it on my first day of primary school."

"I felt like that on my first day of primary school too! It was singing, I used to be sure that I would be a singer," said Lily. "Why 'used to' ,Lily?" Rose asked.

"Well," began Lily,"4 be the best singer in the class. But there was a new girl coming to my class, and she was better at singing than I was. What was the point(意义) of 5 as she was much better than me?"

"You know, Lily," Rose said," Although I was the best at writing in primary and middle school, when I got into high school, I met a girl in my English class. She was always the best writer. I used to 6 because of it, thinking that I was no longer the best writer, I was 7."

"So what did you do?" Lily asked. "I did what any person would do." said Rose." I did everything to be better than her."

"Did you ever write better than her in your class?" Lily asked." No. But I realized that it wasn't about being the best out of everyone, it was about being the very best that I could be.

"Wow!" said Lily in surprise. "But what's that girl doing now?" "Who knows, but there's one thing I am 10:she hasn't written a best-selling book yet."

    I'm Tony. I love weekends! I always get up late on weekends. For breakfast, I only have 1. It's usually an apple. I have a big lunch. After lunch, I like to eat ice-cream. It tastes 2. In the afternoon, I like to 3. I usually play basketball. 4 I swim. In the evening, I clean my room. I like 5 rooms. I always go to bed late.6 my sister doesn't like weekends. She has a job in a big store and she always 7 on weekends. She never goes out 8 her friends. She usually gets home from work at 22: 00. After taking a shower, she 9. Sometimes she reads in bed. Chen Kai and Zhang Juntao are good friends. They study in No. 5 Middle School. They are in the same class. Chen Kai's home isn't far from school. So he walks there. It just takes him about 10 minutes. He is often the first student to get to school. Zhang Juntao's home is 10 kilometers from school. He takes the subway to school. And he is never late for school.

Chen Kai likes math. But he doesn't like English. He thinks it's difficult to remember English words. But Zhang Juntao's English is good. So he often helps Chen Kai learn English. The two boys like music. Chen Kai is good at playing the guitar and Zhang Juntao can sing very well. They are in the school music club. On weekends, Zhang Juntao sometimes goes to Chen Kai's home. Chen Kai plays the guitar and Zhang Juntao sings songs. They always have a good time.

The two boys also like animals. They often go to the zoo. Zhang Juntao likes giraffes because they are beautiful and friendly. Chen Kai's favorite animals are pandas. He thinks they are cute.

Friends are a part of our lives. In my life，I have a best friend named Lucy. She means a lot to me. My life would be less colorful without her. Although we sometimes argue，we still treat each other as best friends. 

We met each other four years ago. She said hello to me with a sweet smile. I guessed that she was a gentle girl. And she really was. When I was in trouble，she always stood by me and made me feel better. 

This winter holiday，we went to the amusement park Happy Valley together. We had fun together on the roller coaster （过山车）. We held each other's hands and shouted loudly when we were riding the roller coaster. It was so exciting. The ride made me feel a little sick, so she bought a bottle of water for me. This experience left me with a lot of good memories（回忆） and made our friendship stronger.

There is a line in the movie Soulmate that says， "If you step on someone's shadow，you will never leave each other. " So I will try my best to "step on her shadow". Many adults think that children can't be friends forever. But I don't believe this. 

Maybe we won't always spend all of our time together. But I will enjoy the time I spend with her and the good memories she has given me. 

Wilbur the pig woke up and looked for Charlotte the spider. Wilbur wanted to thank Charlotte for her help yesterday. He found her sitting in the corner. An egg sac(卵囊)was next to her on the web. 

"What is that thing next to you, Charlotte?"

Charlotte looked very proud of herself and said "I made it myself. This egg sac is the best work I have ever made. "

Wilbur had to agree that it was truly beautiful, but he still did not know what was on the inside. Charlotte told him that there were five hundred and fourteen eggs in the sac. Wilbur could not believe his ears. Charlotte said she was not kidding because she counted it herself. 

Wilbur saw Charlotte was not in the mood and asked, "It is really pretty, but why are you sad?"

"I an just sad that I will not see my children come out of their eggs next spring, " Charlotte said in a soft voice. "I just have a feeling that I will not be around to see that happen. I'm feeling my age. I'm not young anymore, Wilbur. But I don't want you to worry about me. This is your big day today. Look at the web I made. Doesn't it show up well with the dew(露水)on it?"

Wilbur was surprised that although Charlotte needed to make the egg sac, she still made the web for him while she was aging fast. Charlotte's web never looked more beautiful than it looked this morning.
