It was a hot day. At noon I stopped at the traffic lights and saw a homeless man walking up and down in the street.

     “This will make1 smile,” I thought, and I turned my car towards a frozen yogurt shop. I grabbed a2and filled it with a couple of flavors and came to the counter to weigh it. I wanted to add some toppings but my3was not enough for that, so I asked the lady if she would have change for a $ 100 bill. She said she wasn't

    allowed to accept a bill that large. All right, I thought and4for the yogurt. As I was about to leave, she said, “Madam, don't5your children. Please add their favorite things. ” I turned to her and said, “Thanks for your6but this is not for my children.

    It's for the homeless man in the street. ” She smiled with surprise and said, “Oh! That's really sweet of you. God bless you. ” She thought for a moment, and then she said, “I think we can do7than that. ”

    She took a bigger cup, filled it nicely and covered it with colorful toppings. Then she8it to me and said, “This is from me. Please give it to the homeless man. Let's treat him nicely. ” Now it was my turn to be 9. I said, “Thanks a lot. ” And I left with a big smile on my face. On the way I said to myself, “ Angels are10, aren't they? I believe them because I saw one today!”

I really like Peking Opera because it makes me feel peaceful and happy. When I was 8 years old, I saw Peking Opera actresses dancing with flowing sleeves and s{#blank#}1{#/blank#} in a graceful (优雅的) way on television. I told my mom that I wanted to learn Peking Opera, and she put me in classes. Since then I've been on my learning j{#blank#}2{#/blank#} for 5 years.

I have to wake up at 6 o'clock every morning to practice the key skills in Peking Opera performance, such as leg exercises, somersaults (翻筋斗), and voice t{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. When practicing handstands (倒立), all the w{#blank#}4{#/blank#} is on my arms and I sweat. And to make my p{#blank#}5{#/blank#} more clear, I read the lines loudly and quickly. It makes my lips numb (麻木的), but I don't give up. In practice, what really w{#blank#}6{#/blank#} me is getting hurt. One time, I fell down while practicing. That made it d{#blank#}7{#/blank#} for me to go up and down stairs for a long time.

As the saying goes, "One minute on the stage needs 10 years' practice o{#blank#}8{#/blank#} the stage." All the hard work was worth it o{#blank#}9{#/blank#} I got the chance to perform Peking Opera onstage. In 2020, I took part in King Cross (《跨界歌王》) on Beijing TV and performed Ode to Pear a part from The Drunken Beauty (《贵妃醉酒》) during a show on CCTV. Peking Opera puts t{#blank#}10{#/blank#} different parts of theater like writing, music, painting, and costumes. The charm of Peking Opera is timeless. I hope Peking Opera will be loved and enjoyed by more young people.

Last weekend, the four members of my family spent an excellent holiday at the Disneyland. And one thing made our visit seem 1 . 

We got to the front of the line at Space Mountain, only to find out that our little daughter Gloria couldn't take her 2 on the ride. It was our first time to be there, so we were too 3 to remember that ice cream was not allowed on the ride. 

Gloria started 4 and we all didn't know what to do. Then Tony, one of the staff(员工) members, came over. He bent down and told Gloria that he would 5 the ice cream for her and give it back to her when she finished the ride. Gloria said, " Really?" Then she gave Tony her ice cream, and enjoyed 6 on the ride. 

Half an hour later, we 7 . And sure enough, there was Gloria's new friend 8 " her" ice cream. And we knew what had happened, 9 we knew that an ice cream couldn't last for thirty 10 without melting on a summer afternoon in Florida. Tony knew clearly 11 we would get off the ride. He went to the nearest shop and 12 a new ice cream half a minute before we walked out of the exit(出口). Gloria said, "13 . " But I was sure she didn't know it was a 14 ice cream.

Eddie loves playing football. It's his favourite sport. But there's a small problem. His shoes are very 1 . When he plays football at school, some of his classmates 2 when they see his shoes, "Are these shoes your grandpa's? Ha ha ..."

After school, Eddie goes back home and cries 3 . He doesn't want to play football anymore. He tells his 4 to Grandpa, "My shoes are too old! I can't play well with them." Grandpa listens carefully and has a good 5 . He says to Eddie, "Dear, I'm sorry to hear that, 6 I think I can help. Bring those shoes to my room and let me give you a 7 ."

His grandpa begins to colour the shoes in black and red. Slowly, the shape of a football and fireworks show on the shoes and the old shoes start to look 8 . When Grandpa finishes, he says with a smile, "You have amazing shoes now, but you should always remember: You can play well without beautiful shoes. The boy in the shoes 9 , not the shoes on the boy!" The next morning, Eddie wears the shoes and goes to school happily. After that day, Grandpa's words always 10 him when he plays with his "Grandpa's shoes".
