    Mattie celebrated her 6^th birthday earlier this month. For her birthday, she wanted to do something for other children.

    “We {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (talk) about Mattie's birthday cake when she said that she wanted a big one so no one was hungry at her party,” her mother said. “She didn't want anyone to be hungry and she got big tears in her eyes and asked if we could donate food {#blank#}2{#/blank#} people.”

    Mattie and Eliana are still children, though, and enjoy {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (play) with their dolls and stuffed animals just like every other kid does.

    “For being so young, it's a blessing {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (have) kids that are living for something more than themselves,” Wall said. “I'm pretty {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (hope) that it will continue over time and it's amazing to see {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (we) kids doing things for others.”

    It was a dreadfully cold and cloudy afternoon. I was on the bus with my children, aged four and two, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(head) home when it started to rain. I realized this would mean a wet walk home {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the bus stop.

I accepted the offer and expressed my gratitude to him.

    This man might have needed the umbrella for himself later during the day but preferred to give it to me. It was a lesson to me {#blank#}10{#/blank#} it's possible to give without expecting anything in return.

    When I was a kid, Mom used to cook food for us. One night after {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (spend) a long hard day at work, Mom placed a plate of bread jam and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (extreme) burnt toast（烤面包） in front of my dad, I was waiting {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (see) if he noticed it.
