Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to afford all of that fancy equipment used in the gyms Now here are some effective exercises that you can do at home, without the need for any equipment.

Jumping Jacks (开合跳)—These are always fun, as they bring back memories of being a kid.Well, surprise- they are also great aerobic exercise, and good for warming up, too.

Pushups—While they can be hard to do, you can find easier ways to do them. You don't need to pretend you're“Rocky”, and do them with one hand; just do what works for you.Or, do them standing up against a wall. You will be building up arm strength and working out muscles(肌肉) in your chest area.

Light weight lifting—No, you don't need to go out and buy expensive weights for this! Just use whatever you can find in your house. Start out with something lighter, such as a can of peas.

Step exercises—Using the steps in your home, you can do repetitions which will strengthen your leg muscles. (Just remember to be careful!)

You needn't join a gym, paying a large amount in membership fees each month. You don't even need the expensive equipment. Use what you have in your house, and work out in the comfort of your home. You will be more likely to keep up with the exercise when you're comfortable, so just get up and start exercising!

A. Now you have no excuses!

B. Getting some exercise is important.

C. And work yourself up to heavier items little by little.

D. Who has not done jumping jacks for fun as a child?

E. Nice as it sounds, it just isn't an option for most people.

F. Do them on your knees, instead of keeping your legs straight.

G. To make these exercises even more fun, you can watch TV while doing them.

Relax during a job interview

Fewpeople actually like job interviewing. It's nervewracking trying to showyour“best” self to a perfect stranger.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} That's not easy, but thereare some ways to pull yourself together and feel more confident.

      Prepare solid talking points. It's always best to overprepare for possible questions by not only researchingthe company and the person interviewing you, but also by preparing answers andpracticing those responses. Review the skills and experiences requested in thejob announcement and have two to three examples of how you have demonstratedeach one.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

RememberIt's a twoway street. This is a conversation, not an interrogation(审问).

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Remembering that this is a back and forthdiscussion, whereyou can—and should—ask questions as well as answer them, can help you feel morecomfortable.

Just breathe. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Your body will relax a lot. You wantto avoid upper chest breathing, as it tends to just move your stress upward toyour face.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#}Ifyou go into an interview picking apart your outfit or imperfect responses, you're only hurting your chances of coming off as calm and collected. Turn offyour negative selftalk and then create a different selftalk message, like “I am here to share the best ofmy ability and that is all I can really do.”

Work it out. Putting in some gym time on themorning of your interview can help you get rid of any nervous tension. Exercisehelps calm your nervous system and tends to reduce the intensity of physicalmanifestations(表现形式)of stress such as restlessness.

A.Stop the negative thoughts.

B.Put your idea into practice.

C.When faced with an interviewer, youmay be nervous.

D.Before you walk into your interview, take a few deep breaths.

E.You're trying to prove you're the onefor the job and that you can handle stressful situations.

F.Don't forget that you're not the onlyone being interviewed—you're also interviewing the organization.

G.This will strengthen your answers andallow you to show how your experience is relevant to the job or organizationfor which you're interviewing.

Now, if you want to be charming, then you'll need to build self-confidence, but becoming more outgoing is actually pretty easy. To get to a point at which you feel comfortable talking to complete stranger, follow these steps.

Encourage your curiosity about people{#blank#}1{#/blank#}I wonder what his parents look like. I wonder what her favorite color is. Is he from around here? Is she the girl I saw at the movie theater last week? It will take some conscious effort, but you can't be outgoing if you don't care about people.

Smile at others. Make it a goal to smile at one person a day. It can be anybody, and it can be the most subtle(微妙的) of smile. A quick glance paired with a smile—then run away if you want!{#blank#}2{#/blank#}Eventually, you will want to get to a point where you smile instinctively whenever you make first eye contact with someone.

Ask people questions. The standard ”how are you?” doesn't really count, because people use it as a greeting rather than a real question{#blank#}3{#/blank#}This is where the curiosity and interest in others come into play.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}This is key to being a good conversationalist. If you don't make enough eye contact, the other person will feel invisible and the sense that you're elsewhere mentally. If you make too much, they'll feel uncomfortable. Is that specific enough for you?

Note your body language{#blank#}5{#/blank#}To show that you're outgoing and welcome conversations, keep your body open, you head up, and a smile on your face. Resist playing with your phone or otherwise occupying yourself.

A. Master eye contact.

B. Never hesitate to smile at others.

C. Most of communication isn't verbal.

D. The more you do it, though, the less scary it will be.

任务型阅读

Every person wants to achieve the goals set at the beginning of a new school year. The following are some ways to help you achieve your goals.

{#blank#}1{#/blank#}When it comes to choosing your goal, ensure that it states precisely what it is that you want to achieve. Don't generalize. Your goal should involve both what you want to achieve and the effort that you will put in to achieve it.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#}Having a copy of your goal makes it real. You can write you goal in a journal you'll be keeping all year, or you can write it on a poster and stick it on your desk so that you can look at it each day. Every time you remind yourself of your goal, you're training your brain to accept the effort needed to make the goal happen.

Try various methods. One may not work while another may be just right for you. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Some people learn best through writing, some through listening and reading, and some through talking it through. Once you realize which way works for you, you can work better and achieve your goal easily.

Think positive. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Negative thoughts are unhelpful and they became roadblocks. Stop telling yourself you can't and start telling yourself you can, and talk about you are doing rather than hoping you can do something. Always believe that you're capable, even if you have difficulty along the way.

Reward yourself along the way. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}Occasionally, when you've achieved certain “milestones” in your goal plan, take a break and reward yourself. Watch a movie, visit a friend who lives across town, go to the ice cream shop with your friends or buy yourself something new.

A. Write down your goal.

B. Choose specific and realistic goals

C. Be aware of the way you learn best

D. Remember that everyone makes mistakes

E. Set aside some time each week for exercise
