People often don' t do what they really want to for fear  of failure. You don't apply for a job {#blank#}1{#/blank#}case you don't get it. You don't perform at the school concert b{#blank#}2{#/blank#} others might laugh at you. A lack of confidence can l{#blank#}3{#/blank#} to a lot of suffering.

    The key to o{#blank#}4{#/blank#} this problem is to believe in yourself. This might be{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(容易)said than done, but there are many w{#blank#}6{#/blank#} to help you do this. Talk about your problem with a friend or look{#blank#}7{#/blank#} advice on the Internet. Imagine yourself being {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(成功）and practice breathing techniques to keep you calm when you get nervous. And the{#blank#}9{#/blank#} important thing is: believe you can do it. When you've {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (学会）to do that, you are well on your way.

    Most children with healthy appetites are ready to eat almost anything that {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(offer)to them. A child seldom dislikes food {#blank#}2{#/blank#}it is badly cooked. The way meal is cooked and served is most important and a {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(good) served meal will often improve a child's appetite. Never ask a child{#blank#}4{#/blank#}he likes or dislikes the food and never discuss likes and dislikes in front of him or allow anybody else to do{#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Parents should accent the fact{#blank#}6{#/blank#}he likes everything and he probably will. Nothing healthy should be omitted from the meal because of a{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(suppose)dislike. At meal times it is a good idea to give a child a small part and let him come back for {#blank#}8{#/blank#}second helping rather than give him as much as he is likely to eat all at once. Do not talk too much to the child during meal times,{#blank#}9{#/blank#}let him get on with his food; and do not allow him to leave the table immediately after a meal or he will soon learn to swallow his food so that he can hurry back to the toys in his room{#blank#}10{#/blank#}no condition must a child be forced to eat.

    Lake Titicaca is a famous lake in South America. The culture of the ancient people around the lake is thought to be{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(true) advanced but has long remained a mystery. Recently, however, scientists participating{#blank#}2{#/blank#} an exploration project there have found what is believed to be{#blank#}3{#/blank#} 1000-year-old temple under the water.

    The temple {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (build) by ancient people was indeed quite well preserved. The project leaders hope to begin raising important materials from the site in the{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (expect) that they can solve the mystery eventually.

    “Scientists have not yet had the opportunity to study the materials carefully due to a great many{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(hardship). Yet with our efforts, we are bound{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (achieve) greater success if we can keep{#blank#}8{#/blank#}up.” said project director, John Aubi.

    Is there such a thing as being "over-protective"?

    I can honestly say that my answer to that question {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(change) dramatically(戏剧性地)since I became a parent.

    Before the birth of my daughter, I taught at{#blank#}2{#/blank#}private school, often viewing my students as over-protected, worrying  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}would happen when they went on to middle schools.

    Some did fine, and some did not. Some needed constant pats on the back, words of  {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(inspire) and extra support, which I {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(happy) gave. Others were content on their own, needing little {#blank#}6{#/blank#} no interaction(互动)with their teacher.

I'd always supposed their parents were over-protective, for they were the ones that still walked their  {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(five) graders into the classroom and met them at the school gate.

    Admittedly, I laughed at those parents, {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(think) their children would never learn to be  {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(independence) if they didn't let go just a little. Then I had my own daughter. The moment I looked at her little face, I {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(know) I'd do everything in my power to protect her and make sure she always felt safe!
