任务型阅读

We are humans, and we all make mistakes. The mistakes that we make are not usually on purpose, whether it is breaking a vase, or not completing a task. This article will provide you with ideas as to what to do once a mistake has been made.

Admit that you make a mistake as soon as you discover it. Delaying it longer will only make you feel worse, or may drive you toward making the wrong decision to try and cover it up.

Do not play the “blame game”. Most people are smart enough to realize that this is just a poor attempt to protect yourself. Perhaps you gave a task to another person and it was never completed. But is it really the entire fault of the person you gave the task to or is it partially your fault for not following up? Keep this in mind before placing the blame on someone else.

Maybe you broke your mother's favorite vase, or even forgot a friend's birthday. Just an apology can sometimes be viewed as a “quick fix”, and apologizing and asking to be forgiven gives the person opportunity to forgive you.

Offer some compensation(补偿) for loss, damage, or injury caused By doing this, it may soften the blow to the person we've disappointed.

Learn from your mistakes. In the case of a job or a task, write a "to-do" list with the deadline before leaving the meeting. As for forgetting a birthday, put the birthday on an electronic calendar for next year.

Do better next timeWe should try to understand what happened and try to make sure that it won't happen again.

D. People's faith in us can reduce quickly.

Like it or not, there will be difficult times in our lives. You might lose your job, fail in your exams or have an illness.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}Here are some ways not to lose hope during difficult times.

    ⒈Have faith.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#}No matter how bad the situation is, things will turn out to be good in the end. Several years ago I failed to get my master's degree. It was a really bad experience.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}It was of much better quality than my previous university. Experiences like this strengthen my belief that having faith is important during difficult times.

    ⒉Be around supportive people.

Going through difficult times is hard, and going through them alone is even harder. You need a group of positive people who can support you.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}If you don't, my suggestion is to start looking for one. Don't wait until you need it, because it will be too late by then. You need the community before difficult times come.

    ⒊Help others.

An additional benefit of being in a good community is that it encourages you to think about other people. It pushes you to help others and, therefore, think about other people {#blank#}5{#/blank#}As a result, your situation won't look as bad as it would be otherwise. Often the situation looks worse than it really is because we give too much attention. Shifting (移开) some of your attention away will put the situation in a better view.

What will you do if you can't eat everything bought in the canteen(食堂)? {#blank#}1{#/blank#} According to a survey, what students waste every year could feed over 10 million people.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} According to Xinhua News Agency, the food wasted by Chinese people is about 50 million tons of grain every year, which could feed 200 million people.

Food waste, which has become a global issue, serves as a mirror that reflects various cultural and social issues in different countries. In the west, for instance, consumerism, the belief that it's good to use a lot of goods and services, is often to blame for food waste. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Chinese people are well known for being hospitable and generous. Many even feel that they lose face if their guests have eaten all the food. On campus, a generation of single children is less aware of the food waste issue. Students nowadays are well protected by their families and hardly have any concept of how much toil (辛劳) others go through in order to provide them with the food they eat.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}There are 925 million hungry people in the world. They don't have enough food to eat. And farmers work very hard to grow the crops. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}It's also important that everyone thinks about how they can do their bit to reduce food waste. Recently a campaign against food waste launched on line in China might make you think twice about being so wasteful.

A. Students waste is extremely serious.

B. So we shouldn't waste our food.

C. Most of us would simply throw away any leftover food.

D. Students can never realize the serious food waste situation.

E. But canteen waste is merely the tip of the iceberg.

F. China, in turn, features its own eating culture.

G. To reduce food waste is a big task, and it needs time.
