I was coming back from home late at night in a 'Sharing' mini van(厢式货车). In Hydera- bad, India, it is a cheap and quick form of 1. The van driver picked up as many as 13 people at times in a vehicle which is 2  for the transport of 8. So our van was very3.

        Making her way to the 4 of the van, a school girl with a bag 5  the driver to stop. While getting down, she slipped and fell. None of us  6  it, as it was dark outside. The driver was 7  for her to pay. It was then that we saw that the girl was on her 8  by the side of the road. Another passenger and l got down9and held her up.

        Even in  10, she held up a note and asked us to pay the driver. The other 11       passenger took the note and paid the driver. My 12 was a few hundred meters away. As a girl, I knew I'd get off and stay with her in the 13. So I paid up the driver for 14 and he drove away with the other passengers.

        I neither  15  her nor did I know what to do. But I was there, giving some 16 words to another girl in pain. I asked her to stand  17 for a few while. I then looked for a place for her to sit. Then I 18 her friend and waited there. She was rushed to a nearby clinic later. Before leaving, she thanked me for 19  and we hugged goodbye.

        The night breezes were blowing  20  upon my cheek as I walked home，with a feeling of relief.

    My brother, Mark, died in a traffic accident four years ago. He was my big brother and 1 looked after me. I am 2today for all of the special times we had as running partners, and times 3 driving to different races, where we had so many 4 about life in general. I 5 these talks terribly at this time of the year.

   6, I am so happy he shared with me the 7of his faith. He was always so 8 to people, and I had been with him many times 9 we pulled over to help someone in need,10 a smile and helping them get back on the road. On his way home from classes that day, as he was driving along, he noticed a guy ahead of him  16 his lumber (木材) all over the road as he turned the corner. Mark 17 right over and helped him load the lumber back into his truck. The guy was so thankful and 18 his hand to Mark, and in it was one hundred dollars. Mark couldn't believe his 19. He told him that was unnecessary but the man 20 and off he drove.

    I still think of Mark sitting there telling me that story, with tears in his eyes, and how faithful he was.

    On a cold winter evening, I was walking home alone, when suddenly came screams (呼喊声) from behind some tress.1 I slowed down to listen, and 2 that what I was hearing were the sounds of a fight. A woman was being attack (袭击) not far from where I 3.

     “Should I go to help her?” I thought. I was worried about my own 4 , and I regretted having suddenly decided to take a new way home that night. “What if I am 5 too? Shouldn't I just6 to the nearest phone and call the police?” But already the girl's 7 were growing weaker. I knew it was time for me to act fast because I could not 8 the life of this unknown woman, 9 it meant risking my own life.

    I am not a 10 man. I didn't know where I found the 11  and physical strength (体力), but once I had finally 12 to help the girl, I changed suddenly. I ran behind the bushes and 13 the attacker off the woman. Struggling, we fell to the ground, where we fought for a few minutes 14 the man jumped up and ran away.

    15 heavily, I came up to the girl, who was crying. In the 16 I could not see her clearly, but I could certainly 17 her shock. Not wanting to frighten her any further, I spoke to her from a distance.

     “It's OK,” I said 18“The man ran away. You're safe now.” There was a long stop and then I heard the words, said in both wonder and 19 “Dad, is that you?” And then, from behind the tree, stepped my youngest 20 Katherine.

    South Korean artist Young-Sung Kim has a very special talent, he can paint photographs. That may sound like kind of exaggeration (夸张).

    Most of Kim's paintings describe small1 interacting with man-made objects. The artist admits that he has been greatly 2 by insects and reptiles (爬行动物) since he was a young boy, keeping them in his room and 3 them. From that days on, he 4 to become a painter.

    “It wasn't 5 to paint their structure and color well. It was much harder than I had expected. I promised myself I would train myself at art school 6I could paint them perfectly,” the 7told Yonhap News Agency.

    Youn-Sung Kim paints for more than 12 hours a day16on weekends. Despite the17 realism of his paintings, Young-Sung Kim never completely 18with his work. He 19 his artworks on a 100-pomt scale, and none of his dozens of paintings have ever scored above 90 points. Kim hopes to 20 himself and get as close to that 100-point mark as possible.

Finding Home

    "I hate New Orleans! I wanna go home!" I 1 to my mother as we moved boxes. 2 , going home was not easy because my home was 1, 100 miles away.

    I was born and 3 in northern Virginia. Virginia was my home, and I never expected that to 4. In 2014, my family experienced a tragedy (悲剧), so my parents decided to move to my mom's hometown of New Orleans.

    Only three months after my parents made the 5 to move, I found myself moving boxes into our new house. My announcement to my mother that I 6 the new environment was partly motivated by how hot it was, but it was mostly due to the fact that I felt like my entire life had been turned upside down. 1,100 miles away from everyone and everything I had ever known, I was 7. To make matters worse, I was starting high school in two weeks Beginning high school is a scary 8 on its own.

    I spent my first few months in New Orleans, 9 wanting to go home to Virginia. But after a few months of missing home, I 10 that I had a choice. I could continue thinking about how much I missed my old home, 11 I could start trying to build a new home right here. I chose the latter.

    As soon as I stopped giving all my 12 to how much I missed Virginia, I was able to begin accepting the love that people were already giving me. I joined some clubs at school, which gave me the chance to make friends. My neighbor taught me how to cook some New Orleans food, and I found a wonderful 13 of fellow cooks and neighbors. Overall, I seized every possible opportunity to 14 myself and to rebuild my life.

    Because of my resilience (复原力) in creating a new home for myself and the 15 that people have shown to me, home is right here.

    My nephew's 10-year-old son came for a visit one hot, July weekend. I persuaded him to 1 inside and joined him in a game. After 2 for an hour, I suggested that we relax for a while. I 3 my favorite chair to let my neck relax. He left the room and I was catching a few enjoyable 4 of peace.

    The 1010-year-old boy replied, "I think it's windy enough. I can get it to fly," he answered 11 he hurried out to the back door.

    He ran back and forth, as 12 as his ten-year-old legs would carry him, looking back 13 at the kite behind. After about ten minutes of unsuccessful trying, he came back in.

    I asked, "How did it 14?" "Fine," he said, not wanting to admit (承认) the failure. "I got it to fly some."15, I heard him say secretly, "I guess I'll have to wait for the 16."

    At that moment I heard another voice speak to my 17. "Alice, sometimes you are just like that. You want to do it your way 18 waiting for the wind."

    And the voice was 19. We usually want to use our own efforts to 20 what we want to do. We must learn how to make use of "the wind" in the first place!
