Have you ever heard of the "space race (太空竞赛)"? It sounds like a game, but it was not. The "space race" was a kind of competition between the United States and the Soviet Union（前苏联）. Both countries wanted to be the first to send people into space. 

Both the Soviet Union and the United States sent rockets (火箭) into space in the 1950s, but not people. Then in 1961, a man called Yury Gagarin from the Soviet Union became the first man to travel in space. 

People in the United States were upset. They'd hoped an American would be first in space. Soon President John F. Kennedy told the world that Americans would be the first to land on the moon. He said they would get there by 1970. 

Landing on the moon was hardly possible at the time. But that "impossible dream" came true. 

On 16th July 1969, a huge white rocket left the United States. It was carrying a spaceship called Apollo 11. In it were three US astronauts: Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin. 

Apollo 11 travelled quickly through space. On 20th July, it was near the moon. Armstrong and Aldrin moved slowly into the Eagle. That was their landing craft (登月舱). It would leave the command ship (指令舱) and land on the moon. 

Collins stayed in the command ship. Armstrong and Aldrin watched the moon getting closer and closer. Finally, the Eagle landed. Armstrong used his radio to tell people on the earth, "The Eagle has landed. " He and Aldrin stepped out into (步入) a strange new world. They were walking on the moon!

It is said that Chinese tea was discovered by Shen Nong.People say that he lived 5，000 years ago.One summer day，while he was visiting a faraway part of his country，so he began to boil（煮沸） water for himself to drink.Some dry leaves from a near plant fell into the water.Shen Nong drank some，Shen Nong was interested in the new drink.And so，tea was created in 2737 BC.

Drinking tea has many advantages（优势）.It makes people feel less tired，drives heat inside the human bodies out and helps people lose weight.As you add a cup of tea to your daily life

•Drink it hot.Tea oxidizes（氧化） quickly，so you had better drink it hot.

• Do not drink too much strong tea.It will probably be bad for your stomach and make you feel sick if you make the tea too strong.

•The best time to drink tea is between meals.It may not make you have a strong wish to eat when your stomach is empty，or cause a stomachache when your stomach is full.

•Do not drink tea with any medicine.It may change the medical result.You can drink tea two hours after you take medicine.

•Green tea is the best choice for office workers.Why？Because green tea can help stop some bad results caused by the computer.

I'm Hugo. I would like to tell you about the place where I {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (生活). It is called Llandudno and it's in the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (北方) of Wales. What do you think of the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (名字)？That's probably unusual for you because it's Welsh. I was born here and so it's {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (容易) for me to speak Welsh well.

Llandudno is one of the most {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (著名) places for holidays in Wales. It's by the sea and we have lots of {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (沙滩). You can swim in the sea if you want to, but it's quite cold most of the year, especially in {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (十二月). You can also take a chair lift to a cafe at the top of a {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (小山). And I strongly suggest you go to the concert hall if you love {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (音乐) because great bands play there. There's also a youth club and I usually enjoy {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (我自己) there every Friday night.

So come and visit when you're free. I believe you'll have a good time here.

Do you know what is the smallest bird in the world? The answer is" The hummingbird (蜂鸟)". How small is it ? Even the largest one in western South America is only about 20cm long. Its body weigh about 20g. The smallest hummingbird is the bee hummingbird. It lives in Cuba. It is about 

5.5cm long and weighs about 2g. They are the smallest living birds. The funny thing is that people often mistake them for bees.

The year 2024 celebrates the Chinese Year of the Dragon. It is respected as a lucky year, full {#blank#}1{#/blank#} hope for all. Chinese people {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the dragon, and even see {#blank#}3{#/blank#} as the descendants (后代) of the dragon. In Chinese {#blank#}4{#/blank#} , the dragon is a symbol of power and good luck. People believe it controls the water and {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a good harvest (收获). And people who are born in the dragon year are {#blank#}6{#/blank#} to be confident and brave. The length of dragons can be 50 to 70 {#blank#}7{#/blank#} because people believe that the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the dragon is, the more luck it will bring. The dragon is not just {#blank#}9{#/blank#} animal in the Chinese zodiac (生肖), it's also a powerful symbol that is rooted (根植) {#blank#}10{#/blank#} in Chinese history and customs.

①Do you find it hard to say"no" when someone asks you for help? Do you feel sorry when you have to tell people that you really can't help them? And do you often pretend(假装) to agree with people even though you think differently? If you answered"yes" to these questions, you may be a"people-pleaser".

②Being friendly and helpful is a good thing. It helps you build friendships. However, trying to please(取悦) others without considering your own happiness can make you stressed. Luckily, there are some steps that you can take to stop being a people-pleaser.

③To start with, it's important to know your limits(限度) and make"boundaries"(界限) in your life. Be clear about what you would like to do. You can also tell others that you are only available for a certain period of time.

④When someone asks you for help, tell hum or her that you need some time to think about it. Use this time to ask yourself: Do you really want to do this? How much time will it take? By giving yourself some time to think, you' ll be better able to truly decide if it's something you have the interest and time to do.

⑤People always try to please others because they have little confidence(自信) in themselves. They don't consider their own need and interest. In this situation, you can try meaningful self-talk. Remind yourself that you have dreams, too. You don't have to waste your time to do things that don't bring you joy.

⑥Making a sudden change can be hard, so start by taking small steps. You may, for example, send a message to say"no". Then, continue to say"no" face to face. Practice this in kinds of situations, such as talking to a salesperson or ordering at a restaurant.

⑦Stopping being a people-pleaser doesn't mean you have to give up being kind and helpful altogether. You can still do good things— but on your own situations.
