A crow wanted to drink, but he couldn't find water. He looked here and there. At last he cried, "I can see a jar and there is some water in it." He tried to get the water, but he couldn't. "How can I get the water?" he cried, "I can put my beak (鸟嘴) quite close to it. "But still he couldn't drink." What can I do? 1want to drink," said the crow.

He looked around. And then he picked up a small stone(石头)in his beak, carried it to the jar anddroppedit into the jar. "Soon the water will be high in the jar, and I can drink, "said the crow.

So he began to do that until the water was high enough for him to drink.

As many as 110 middle and high school students from more than 90 countries and regions(地区) took part in the 16th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for ForeignSecondary School Students. The competition ran from Oct 16th to Oct 30th in Beijing and Yunnan last year. In it, they took cultural trips and answered questions about Chinese characters(汉字) and Chinese culture.

Attracted by Chinese dramas

Folke Borgstorm is an 18-year-old from Sweden. When he visited Beijing for the competition, he bought a jade necklace(玉石项链). Borgstorm said he knew about jade from a Chinese TV show. "A main character in the TV show wears jade and it makes him look cool. Jade can have many colors like green, red and white," said Borgstrom. He became interested in it and started to learn more about it.

Botgstorm also enjoyed watching popular short dramas. "Most Sweden TV shows tell of boring everyday life," he said. "But Chinese shows have interesting stories."

Amazed by a Chinese host

Many of the students hoped to learn more about Chinese culture on the trip, but Ai Akasaki, from Japan, wanted to meet her idol, Sa Beining. Sa is a well-known host in China. The 16-year-old girl watches the Spring Festival Gala(春晚) every year and likes the funny Sa. "I also watched other shows Sa hosts, like Everlasting Classics(《经典咏流传》). In those beautiful songs, I found Chinese poetry is as beautiful as Japanese haiku(俳句)," said Ai.

Unluckily, she didn't meet Sa this time. But she wants to be a journalist(记者) in China and work with Sa one day.

Betty is not beautiful . She is too tall and thin. The kids in our class often laugh at(嘲笑) her, so Betty is 1 happy in school.

Yao Jian has been teaching in the Sandun Primary School in Datong, Shanxi Province for more than 20 years. In 1998, he chose to teach village children after graduation. At that time,the conditions of the village school were terrible. Some students had to bring chairs from home to school because there weren't enough chairs. The number of students became smaller and smaller because many villagers took their children to cities. Some teachers left the school to search for better jobs too. The teachers who stayed there had to teach all the subjects.

"I come from the poor countryside and know how important education is for village children.I will continue teaching in the school till the last student leaves."Yao said.

Because of his great work, Yao was made the headmaster of the school in 2004. In the same year, his wife started working as a teacher there too. They took good care of the students as if they were their own children. Yao used to have a heart-to-heart talk with other teachers so that they could feel at home in the school and like their work.

Many of the school's graduates have entered college. Jiao Shufeng, one of them, said,"Yao was my favourite teacher. He helped me form good study habits. I was lucky to have him as my teacher when I was young. Inspired by him, I plan to be a teacher and help more left-behind children to get better education."

While Cao Cao's soldiers{#blank#}5{#/blank#} sailing on the river，they heard the sounds. At that time，they{#blank#}6{#/blank#} they were in danger. But they could not see through the{#blank#}7{#/blank#} fog （雾） on the river. Cao Cao asked his soldiers to shoot arrows towards the sounds of the{#blank#}8{#/blank#} and the shouting. Zhuge Liang's boats were soon full of arrows. 

Zhuge Liang's soldiers then turned the boats around and shouted， "Thank you for{#blank#}9{#/blank#} arrows，Cao Cao. " Zhuge Liang took all these arrows to Zhou Yu. There were{#blank#}10{#/blank#} than 100，000 of them. Zhuge Liang made the impossible task possible. That's why the story is so famous.
