A son takes his father to a nice restaurant for dinner. His father is very old and he doesn't look {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. He drops（掉落） food on his shirt and trousers {#blank#}2{#/blank#} he's eating, so the father isn't {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Other people watch{#blank#}4{#/blank#} with disgust（厌恶）, but the son is very calm（冷静的） and doesn't {#blank#}5{#/blank#} at all.

After his father finishes {#blank#}6{#/blank#}, the son {#blank#}7{#/blank#} takes him to the washroom and cleans his clothes. When they come back to the seats, an old man walks to them and {#blank#}8{#/blank#}, "I think you leave {#blank#}9{#/blank#} behind." The son says, "No, sir, I don't." The old man says, "Yes, you do! You leave a {#blank#}10{#/blank#} for every son and a hope for every old father."

I was happy because I worked short days today in the animal hospital. The worker opened the door at 9 am. She also made everyone a cup of tea or coffee. We fed the animals. About 10 am, pet owners(宠物主人) started to arrive with their sick pets. My assistant(助手) examined(检查) them. I was busy doing the paperwork . I used about two hours to have lunch and finished all my paperwork. 

At 2 pm, I started to see new sick animals. At 5 pm, three students from a nearby school came to help out. They are very kind and warm—hearted. From 5 pm to 7 pm, I still saw sick animals. 

At 7 pm, we closed our doors. We fed and cleaned the animals. Then, we turned off the lights and went home. It was a really meaningful day. 

It was a cold night. I went to sleep in a tree for the {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(two) time, and the next day I went on {#blank#}2{#/blank#}my trip. Soon I came to an opening in the hills. In front of {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(I), everything was green, and there were flowers everywhere. There were also many different birds {#blank#}4{#/blank#}other animals.

I saw that my house {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(be) on the worst side of the island. But I didn't want to move from there. It was my home now. I stayed away for three {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(day), and then I came home. But I often went back to the other, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}.(green), warmer side of the island.

And so my life {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(go) on. Every month I learned to do or to make something new. But I ha troubles and accidents too. Once there was {#blank#}9{#/blank#}terrible storm with very heavy rain. The roof of my ca ve fell in, and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(near) killed me! I had to build it up again with many pieces of wood.

 One morning, Jackie is riding his bike home. He sees his friend, Ms Weasel. Sheís sad. Her bike has a flat tire (爆胎) but she must go to work now.

 Jackie says, "Ms Weasel, you can use my bike first. Tammy will help fix your bike."

"Thank you so much!" Ms Weasel says.

 "Sharing is caring!" Jackie smiles. Then he walks home:

 When Jackie gets home, he finds a big hole (洞) in his trousers. Oh no! He only has one pair of blue trousers!

"Don't worry!" Tammy comes, "I have many trousers. You can wear mine." That makes Jackie happy.

"Sharing is caring." Tammy says happily.

 Jackie then goes into the kitchen to make beef soup for dinner. Tammy comes with some vegetables. "Wow! What delicious beef soup!" she says.

"Let's have it together" Jackie says. "Sharing is caring!"

 Then someone is at the door. It is Ms Weasel"Thank you for your bike today, Jackie. I have a gift for you!"

"Wow! Honey cake! Our favorite!" Tammy says.

"We just made beef soup. Let's have dinner together." Jackie says.

"Thank you!" Ms Weasel sits down, "Sharing is caring!"

 Chinese writer Hai Ya's The Space-Time Painter won the Hugo Award for Best Novelette(中短篇小说) on Oct. 21st. He became the third Chinese writer to win a Hugo Award after Liu Cixin and Hao Jingfang.

 When creating The Space-Time Painter, Hai Ya drew his idea from a famous painting, A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains(《千里江山图》). It was created by Wang Ximeng from the Song Dynasty. Based on Wang, Hai created a painter named Zhao Ximeng. After many hard times, Zhao's mind leaves his body and enters a space where a modern policeman is trying to solve a case(案件)about an ancient painting.

 Hai Ya's story with science fiction began in his childhood. "When I was a child, the bookstore in my hometown helped create a beautiful garden in my mind that belonged to me only. In it, science fiction offered the most beautiful‘flowers'; it opened a new world for me as a kid," Hai Ya told Beijing Youth Daily.

 Hai Ya's works feature a mix of history and science fiction. These two styles seem opposite: One looks back at the past, and the other faces the future. However, in Hai Ya's works, they find a perfect balance(平衡).

"If we can only imagine the future and things in space like rockets, it will only limit (限制) our imagination," Hai Ya told Shenzhen Special Zone Daily. "I don't think history is something completely in the past. It is flowing(流动的), and we can make predictions(预言) about the future by looking back at history.▲ ," he added.

 More Chinese writers today are trying to mix traditional culture with modern stories. Hai Ya believes that it is not a choice but a natural process." Our history and culture have universal values(普世价值) that can touch everyone," he said to Xinhua.

Michael is a sports lover. In the "Playing Sports" unit, he has learned the knowledge about various sports. Basketball is his favorite. He often devotes an hour to playing basketball after school. He thinks sports can make people strong and healthy. One day, his school announced(宣布）that there would be a basketball game. He was very excited and prepared for it. He practiced with his teammates every day. They trained hard to enhance their skills. They learned from each other, and encouraged one another during the practice sessions. Michael also made sure to take good care of his body, getting enough rest and eating properly to be in the best condition for the game.
