Have you ever read Little Women by US writer Louisa May Alcott? The classic has been changed into plays, films and television programs many times because of its popularity since it came out in 1868. It tells a story of a mother raising her four daughters, while their dad is away fighting a war. Meg, the eldest, wants to live a better life very much. Jo, the second-born, wants nothing more than to be a writer. Beth is a sweet girl who loves music and always brings joy to others. The youngest daughter, Amy, dreams of being an artist. After reading Little Women, I have a feeling of warmth and kindness from the family.

In the following scene, the girls talk about what they can buy with the very little money they have. They feel hopeful about the future even though their dreams may not come true.

Wang Fa is from Yunnan Province. In late August,2022, the 14- year- old boy. won the men's singles under 14 years old at a tennis junior tour in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.

According to him, tennis has changed his life. Wang was among the first group of kids learning to play tennis in Cangyuan. When he was eight, his coach Zhang Xiaohong chose him.

At that time, he didn't know what tennis was. His parents didn't want him to learn tennis at first because they couldn't pay for it. Zhang offered to teach him for free because he thought it would be a waste(浪费) not to train such a talent.

The first time Wang and his friends left the mountains, they were thrilled. However, several days later, some of them wanted to return home. To comfort(安慰) them, Zhang offered them delicious food and toys.

Every day, the children got up at 6:30 am, practised all day and took classes at night. The team travelled to cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu for competitions. Wang's first competition was in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.

"I was nervous, because the outside world was so different from my home," he said." But tennis helped me make more friends and get a better education."

On camera, Wang looked confident. He said he wanted to be a professional(专业的) tennis player.

 During lunchtime in Shenzhen, workers often line up to buy food from street vendors(小贩). But in the past, they weren't allowed to set up their stalls(摊位) anywhere on the streets in China. The stalls were believed to be bad for the image of a city." We have to keep the streets clean and tidy," the city government of Beijing once said.

 Things, though, began to change in recent months. In March, Shanghai and Hangzhou worked out detailed plans for stall businesses. And now Shenzhen is also preparing to welcome back street vendors. On April 28, it announced new guidelines on the management of street vending. Under the rules, street vendors will be allowed to operate in certain areas within the city. The new rules worked out on September 1,2023.

 Most people are glad to see vendors getting back on the streets."I think it's good and convenient," said one user on Weibo." Vendors can make money, while customers will have more choice."

 Street vending has long been considered as a lowly job in China. But in 2020, former Premier Li Keqiang pointed out that street vendors were the" lifeblood" of the country. Since then, many Chinese young people have seen the business as a way to get away from the stress of traditional work culture. Some of them can now be seen setting up stalls on weekends in Shanghai.

Zhang Jianna is a 50- year- old cleaner in Sanlitun, Beijing. One day in 2014, a foreigner asked Her some questions 1 she couldn't understand him. After high school, Zhang for got most of her English knowledge. That day, she decided to 2 the language again.

 Zhang began to study her children's English textbooks. She remembered the words at night and read 3 aloud the next morning. In her free time, she used her smartphone to learn English. She also practised English 4 with her children to improve speaking. She studied hard every day.

 Now, she can speak English fluently and 5 . She can guide the visitors along the roads. What's more, she gives them 6 information about the city as well. Zhang and her team members need to clean more than 100,000 square meters of roads and more than 300 waste bins near 56 embassies. Zhang can read the names of all these embassies 7 English. She is proud of herself.

Last semester, I joined the school's Geography Club, and it has been an exciting journey! In the club, we have various activities like solving puzzles and d{#blank#}1{#/blank#} skills like map reading. Our club members are a group of energetic t{#blank#}2{#/blank#} who love exploring（探索）the world.

One of our recent projects was creating a p{#blank#}3{#/blank#} on "The Wonders of the World?" . We worked in groups, and I was lucky enough to be in a good team. We researched（研究），designed, and finally showed it, which received a lot of praise from our club members.

During our meetings, we also p{#blank#}4{#/blank#} for quiz competitions. It's rocky, but when we celebrate our s{#blank#}5{#/blank#}, it feels just amazing. Our club leader always says, "Mind the geography, and you'll go places!"

From my second grade on, there was one thing I was afraid of every year: the piano recital(音乐演奏会). A recital 1  I had to practise a boring piece of music and play before strangers. Each year I 2  ask my father if I could run away from the recital" just once". And each year he would shake his head, saying 3  about building self-confidence and working towards a goal. 

So it was really great when I stood in church one recent Sunday with a camera in hand, and 4  my 68-year-old father sweating(流汗) in his shirt before rising to play the piano in 5  very first recital. 

My father had expected to play music since childhood but his family was poor and couldn't 6  lessons. He could have been regretting it, 7  too many of us do. But even if he was always thinking about his past, he wasn't stuck there. When he retired three years ago, he 8  his church music teacher to take him as a student. 

For a moment after my father sat down at the keyboard, he just looked down at his 9 . Has he forgotten the notes? I worried, remembering those special seconds many years ago when my mind would go blank and my fingers would become 10 . But then came the beautiful melody(旋律), from the 11  fingers that once repaired my fishing lines. And I learned he had been doing what his 12  teacher always told him: Only 13  the music and imagine the others aren't there.
